Chapter 19 - arrival

When Rayliehg opened his eyes again, he was standing in the center of a park surrounded by people.

"Welcome to Los Angeles, Rayleigh, Alex. A pool of the delusional."[1]

Rayleigh looked around at all the people running and talking. He could feel the same presence from the fire where Migdranniun told him he had his mom captive, though it was extremely weak.

"I see that you sense him, too. Thankfully, it is masking our presence, so we should be safe for now, but we will soon be found out."

Rayleigh felt a sickly feeling in his stomach; he felt like he shouldn't be here.

"Now, let's find a place to make our base of operations. That place looks promising."

Uldess pointed to a hotel. The Syeri Hotel. Rayliegh had to admit it looked quite interesting. It had gold-plated pillars on the side of the foundation and had a red carpet leading to the entrance, with a line of potted trees on each side.

"How are we supposed to afford to stay there? I have heard that it is extremely expensive to stay there, even for one night."

Rayliegh felt even worse. How were they supposed to find his weapon if they couldn't even afford food?

"Don't you worry, Alex, you don't think that I don't have money. I have been alive for eons, and I have always been smart when investing. Now, let's go book our rooms, shall we?"

As they entered the front of the hotel, they were greeted by some of the staff who offered them some fresh juice.

"I could get used to this."

Alex seemed to fit in with all the others who were staying there.

"Remember, Alex, we are here to save your parents[2] and find Rayleigh's weapon."

"Welcome to the Syeir hotel, where your relaxation gives us energy. I am the manager, Maxamillion."

Uldess walked forward.

"Thank you for having us. I am Jonse Rhyses, and these are my grandchildren, Alex and Rayliegh. We would like 2 rooms for around three weeks."

Maxamillion looked happily at them all, creeping Rayliegh out.

"I see, so they must be on holiday. Oh, how I miss spending the day with my friends at the beach."

"Yes, I can imagine, now about the rooms."

"Oh yes, my apologies, let's get you set up, shall we? How about room 273 and room 274? They have a connecting door, if I remember correctly."

"That would be perfect, thank you. Alex, Rayleigh, why don't you go explore, and when you get back, you can tell me all about the 'interesting' thing you have found."

Rayliegh, getting the message nodded.

"Ok grampa we will see you soon."

[1] I'm South African, so I am sorry if I offend anyone

[2] The reason for Uldess stating that they need to find their parents is to ensure Alex doesn't think that Rayliegh is more important than him
