(Kael's POV)
I took a step back from Andrew.
"It didn't have to turn out this way," I said quietly, my voice heavy with regret.
Andrew glared at me, his eyes cold and accusing.
"You spent years pretending to be someone you weren't," I continued. "You acted like a loving, devoted husband and father. Like someone who genuinely cared."
"I did what I was supposed to do," he replied flatly.
"No," I shook my head. "What you were supposed to do was actually be the man you pretended to be. Just imagine how different your life could've been if you had actually tried… if you cared about anyone other than yourself."
"Would it have gotten me any further?" he asked bitterly.
"I don't know. I like to think it would've. But I do know this,if you had made different choices, you'd be going home to your mate and family tonight. Instead, you're probably going to spend the rest of your life in the dungeons."
