[Item: Soul Dew]
[Description: A beautiful glowing orb, the Soul Dew is held by Latias or Latios and is the crystallization of their very soul. This particular Soul Dew contains Latios's thoughts and emotions.]
[Effect: When held by Latios or Latias, increases the power of Psychic-type and Dragon-type moves.]
Hikaru picked up the two orbs. A corner of the world returned to stillness. But faintly, Hikaru heard a questioning voice echoing from within the Soul Dew.
Latios, the Eon Pokémon.
Its streamlined body was blue in the rear, with jet-like wings and fin-like legs. On its chest was a red triangle. The upper part of its body was white, with triangular ears and a face marked by a white pentagon.
Latios was highly intelligent, capable of understanding human speech. Gentle and averse to conflict, it only grew close to kind-hearted individuals and could share its thoughts and visions with them. Even when vanishing from sight, it retained telepathic links with its companions, sensing their feelings and whereabouts.
Though registered in the Hoenn Pokédex, Latios was most often sighted off the coast of Johto, particularly in the Water Capital, Alto Mare.
"The Guardian of the Water Capital... I wonder where Ash and the others are in their journey. They should be getting close to Alto Mare."
"After the Water Capital comes the Silver Conference."
Gazing at the faintly glowing Soul Dew, Hikaru attempted to channel his power into it. Sunlight focused on the orb, and at the same time, the power of the Entralink Tree activated.
Entralink emotions allowed connection—not only with life, but with the very soul. It was an extraordinary form of psychic ability.
The hostility within the Soul Dew gradually faded. Hikaru's emotions were clearly transmitted to Latios, residing in another world. Through the Soul Dew, the Eon Pokémon saw the woman standing in the real world—Madam Valachia.
At first, there was confusion. Then astonishment. And finally... overwhelming joy and excitement after a long-awaited reunion.
The black-and-white world began to dissolve. Hikaru turned to look at Madam Valachia, who had not realized what he had just done. She stared at the two orbs in Hikaru's hands, stunned.
"Where did you find those?"
She hadn't noticed anything there just a moment ago, and yet these orbs... especially the blue one—it stirred deep nostalgia in her heart.
Like reuniting with an old friend.
The feeling conveyed by the blue orb was...
A long-lost calling and a deep yearning.
"This was left by your friend. They hid this item in another world, and by using special methods, it can be retrieved here, in the same location."
"That emotion just now came from the Soul Dew. That Pokémon... is nearby."
"But we can't see it from our world."
"However, through a rift in the dream, we can make it appear here."
The Pokémon Madam Valachia met in childhood was most likely a Shiny Latios.
The area around Floccesy Town did have forests, so it wasn't surprising that this strange chapel would be imbued with their dreams.
However, the surrounding forests had no name. Heading north would lead to the Ross Mountain range, home to Chargestone Cave—where the legendary Pokémon Cobalion resided.
Madam Valachia cradled the Soul Dew in her hands. The strong emotions surged into her heart like a warm current. Her long-forgotten childhood memories shimmered anew.
When she was just a girl, she had ridden on that Pokémon's back, flying freely across a world beyond the bridge. Back then, she dreamed of becoming a pilot. In that other world, she really had grown up into someone different from who she was now.
Ah, dreams.
Her current self was nothing like the person she dreamed of becoming. As she aged, those childhood memories faded into gray. She shifted from ideals to reality—harsh, unforgiving reality.
Due to her health, she couldn't become a pilot. She took up the path of a Pokémon Trainer instead, challenged Gyms, traveled the Champion's Road, witnessed Alder's strength, lost to the Elite Four... and trained tirelessly, day after day, becoming a veteran Trainer.
Eventually, she grew tired of that life and opened a company in Mistralton City, focusing on Pokémon training and growth...
"I remember now."
Madam Valachia murmured to herself, dazed as she looked down at the Soul Dew.
"I wanted to become a pilot because I once saw the vast sky from Latios's back."
"That was a world without limits."
The Soul Dew pulsed with joy and longing. Latios's voice resonated within her, carried by the power of Entralink.
Let's fly together again. I want to soar with you once more.
It's been so long since we last played together.
The skies of old haven't changed. Beyond the black-and-white world lies a universe full of light. The seas of clouds still roll and dance. Only when reaching great heights do the colors of the world begin to shift.
Once more… let us fly again… I want to fly with you.
"Latios… Latios!"
Madam Valachia suddenly looked up. She searched the ceiling in all directions, but of course, Latios couldn't be seen in this world. She turned to Hikaru, anxious.
"Who are you really? That voice just now was—"
"A Psychic, and a student of mythology," Hikaru replied with a warm smile. Then he took out a Poké Ball.
"Are you ready? Ready to reunite with your friend… after over thirty years?"
"Arf!"
The light faded. A small blue puppy jumped out—the one responsible for Aura linkages. Sensing the energy around them, it was clear this dream rift in the chapel wasn't tied to a forest, so a Torterra wasn't needed. With Aura and the C-Gear, the other side could be revealed.
"That's… a Riolu?"
"That's right," Hikaru nodded. "The Emanation Pokémon—Riolu. A rare few among them can wield Aura. You know, Aura is a powerful mental force. It can even link different worlds together."
"Come, Riolu. Let's awaken the dream sleeping within this chapel!"
[Festival Quest: The Longing Chapel of Floccesy]
[Description: This chapel holds endless emotions—longing, joy, sorrow, and the passage of time. All intertwined into a unique power. Unova's dreams swirl like whirlpools, and Floccesy is the city they spiral into. Discover the source of its power!]
[Rewards: Dream Shards ×5, Ancient Longing ×1, Heart's Whirlpool ×1, Star Pieces ×10, Big Nuggets ×2]
[Note: The Entralink Tree has recognized the importance of dream linkage knowledge. These rewards come not from the tree, but from the chapel itself.]
"Mehlah~"
Larvesta looked at Riolu rushing out and felt a bit deflated.
This was supposed to be her moment to shine.
But once again, it became Riolu's stage.
Is Aura really the only way to link worlds?
"Don't worry," Hikaru consoled, kneeling beside her. "Aura is strong, but GX Energy is also a power that transcends time and space. You just haven't learned how to use it yet."
Riolu thumped its chest and encouraged Larvesta too.
"Arf woof!"
Don't worry! Every person and Pokémon has things they can do and things they can't! What matters is using your strengths well and doing your best!
The blue puppy gently patted Larvesta's head. Despite its young looks, it was a veteran of training at the Rock Chamber—truly a "big dog."
Yet there was still a hint of sadness in Riolu's eyes.
Pokémon could understand this truth… but some people never could. His previous Trainer had failed to do so—misusing his strength...
"Mehlah~" Larvesta nuzzled Riolu. Her frustration faded quickly, tossed aside like a passing breeze. After all, both her Trainer and Riolu had said it—every power had its time and place. She'd just have to wait a bit longer.
Maybe it was because she hadn't evolved into Volcarona yet. That's why she wasn't being relied on.
So, if she just kept eating, sleeping, training, and battling well, then someday, when she became a Volcarona… surely that day would come!
Let's do this!
"You and your Pokémon really are in sync," Madam Valachia smiled, admiration shining in her eyes.
"When I was younger, I didn't truly understand my Pokémon's joys or sorrows. All I thought about was fighting—desperately trying to overcome my weak body. I put my Pokémon through endless training... but looking back, they were probably just accommodating me."
"They're terrifying beings… and yet so beautiful. They can share our happiness, our pain, and understand human emotion. But we humans struggle to understand their love and hate. It took me years to realize that."
"If only there were a power that let humans and Pokémon communicate without barriers... like your psychic ability."
Her gaze softened, filled with nostalgia, regret, and sincere envy.
"If only I had your power…"
"You already do," Hikaru whispered. He released his energy, activating the C-Gear, while Riolu amplified it with Aura. The chapel's world once again turned black and white.
"Time waits for no one... But I think my dream… it's returned."
"So you really can let me see that world again?"
Her emotions grew jittery. It had been decades since they last met—and now she was nervous.
But would Latios feel disappointed in the dull woman she'd become?
"We're not entering that world. We're calling Latios here."
"That world… is still unreachable. Only those who get lost can stumble into it. That's because gratitude is fading. People's hearts are scattered. And so the connection between worlds grows weak."
Hikaru knew that eventually the C-Gear would be widespread across Unova—during the events of Black 2 and White 2, many people had it. And the Entralink Ruins were already fully restored by then.
When people's wills unite, when they help and appreciate one another, the worlds can reconnect.
"Awoo!"
Riolu's triple Aura made the dream rift tangible. The C-Gear's power surged to max, and Rotom—sensing something—grinned on the screen, speaking only words Hikaru could understand:
[Detected! Detected! A strange dream rift has appeared! Something's coming through!]
Hummmm—
A strange, ethereal resonance echoed in the chapel. A stone tablet embedded with a gem emerged—not the Forest Seal Stone.
[Artifact (?): Sky Seal Stone]
[Description: A gem descended from space long ago. A unique seal stone born from longing and the power of the sky, holding unearthly energy. Bound to this chapel and the heavens, it cannot be taken away.]
[Effect: Grants blessings. The blessed can draw power from the sky and longing. The sky connects all worlds—for no matter where you stand, you always look up at the same sky.]
The chapel was cloaked in monochrome. The dream rift widened. Linked by Aura, Madam Valachia stood frozen, staring at the opening crack. Her childhood memories became vivid again… and her dear friend reappeared before her.
"Lati."
The Shiny Latios gazed quietly at them. He and Valachia stared at one another. Words were unnecessary. Their emotions had already been exchanged.
She stepped forward. First slowly—then with urgency.
She embraced Latios.
Let us fly again. High above, into the infinite sky!
"My friend… it's been so long. Over thirty years… You really were real!"
"Lati."
To the immortal Eon Pokémon, thirty years passed in a blink. But the little girl he once knew was now a grown woman. Time never flows backward, and its passing is merciless.
Madam Valachia felt tears streaming down her cheeks. Whether from long-buried regrets or the joy of reunion, she wasn't sure. Her emotions were a whirlwind—but mostly, it was happiness.
And Latios felt the same.
Watching over the chapel from another world had become part of its life. But today, a stranger arrived—someone who offered help. And thanks to that, it could see its friend once again.
Happiness is fleeting. Eternal joy doesn't exist, so we must not be greedy.
Even if decades pass—as long as we can meet again, that's enough!
"Lati~"
The Shiny Latios was deeply grateful to Hikaru. This was the first time it had seen a human draw out the seal stone.
It was also fascinated by Riolu and Larvesta—both emanating strange powers.
One from the heavens. One returning from the depths of time.
It curiously studied the two Pokémon, then nodded in thanks and, remembering something, used psychic power to pull out a mysterious item from the rift.
A few shimmering, radiant scales.
"Heart Scales."
These heart-shaped, rare scales shimmered with a faint rainbow glow.
They could be used to help Pokémon remember forgotten moves.
The power of memory could also let one read a Pokémon's memories—surpassing even N's heart-reading ability.
These Heart Scales had come from another world—and might contain special powers.
[Item: Heart Scale]
[Description: A rare, heart-shaped scale that glows faintly with rainbow light.]
[Note: This one came from Southern Island. Memories that fade… still wish to be etched in the heart.]
[Effect: Allows the user to recall Egg Moves or stronger attacks. Memories can be stored in the scale and gifted to other Pokémon, giving them a chance to learn these special techniques.]
"Lati~"
"Mehlah~"
Larvesta was a little embarrassed.
She hadn't really done much… and yet she got a gift?
But Latios insisted otherwise.
It was Larvesta's fire that first drew its friend back to this chapel.
Guidance—was the greatest help of all.
And Riolu's Aura was the bridge between worlds.
"Arf woo! (Thank you!)"
Riolu was delighted by the Heart Scale, flipping it over and examining it curiously.
He'd never seen anything like it in northern Unova.
After gifting the two Pokémon, Latios turned its attention to Hikaru. Then it flew back into the rift, returning with a small stone tablet, which it handed to him.
[Artifact (?): Infinity Tablet]
[Description: A stone tablet from near the Heart Altar at the edge of Southern Island, in another world. Engraved with ancient forgotten dreams. Inscription reads: "All dreams are merely another reality. Never forget."]
[Effect: This stone is considered a limitless ticket. It can guide the user to Southern Island from any world.]
[Your soul and heart levels have been greatly elevated!]
[You've mastered the Music of Reminiscence—ancient Hoenn melodies!]
[Craftable: Infinity Flute]
[Playable Songs: "Soaring Illusion of the Sky," "Sky Pillar," "Tower of the Heavens"!]
Soul and heart levels?
Hikaru wiped off the stone tablet. Latios's thoughts flowed to him.
The stone had been left behind by someone long ago. It was the stone's pulse that helped Latios sense Hikaru's call.
Though useless to Pokémon, the tablet was a treasure for a special kind of human.
It was said the tablet could awaken the power of the heart.
[You—]
Suddenly, from Hikaru's Master Ball came a voice.
Deoxys had sensed the power of the Shiny Latios.
It asked in disbelief:
[You too… came from that radiant realm?]
