The armored landowner was completely stunned.
Did the village chief just say… he was Lin Fan?
The Lin Fan who had instantly defeated all the bosses in the Nine-Story Monster Tower?
The master of Lady Maid?
He couldn't have heard that wrong, could he?
Lying on the ground, the armored landowner stared in shock at the village chief, then turned his gaze toward Lin Fan, who was still sitting on the oakwood sofa.
"T-This… He's really Lin Fan?" he murmured, his face filled with disbelief.
Although Lin Fan had introduced himself earlier, no one had taken him seriously.
They had assumed he was joking.
Even Pande had never imagined that this generous customer was actually Lin Fan.
He had thought Lin Fan was just teasing him—after all, why would the real Lin Fan be browsing his stall, buying slaves, and interacting so casually with them?
Yet Lin Fan remained as calm as ever, sitting quietly on the sofa, his expression unchanged.
His eyes, however, were cold.
He glanced down at the armored landowner kneeling on the ground, then shifted his gaze to the village chief.
"It seems like the people of your Fishing Village really enjoy provoking me," he said with a faint smile, his tone unreadable.
Hearing those words, the village chief immediately lowered his head in unease.
"Lord Lin…" he faltered, unsure how to respond.
Lin Fan's expression darkened.
"Last time, I let your village off the hook. Do I need to make concessions again this time?"
At this point, the village chief understood Lin Fan's meaning perfectly.
He wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"…Of course not." He swallowed hard. "Whatever you say… is final."
Lin Fan smiled slightly at the response, nodding subtly—as if satisfied with the answer.
"Then can I take this man with me?" he asked, a smile playing on his lips, as if politely seeking the village chief's permission.
But that smile made the village chief feel a chill down his spine.
At this moment, the village chief knew very well that Lin Fan was not asking for permission—he was simply informing him of his decision.
The village chief bent even lower.
"Of course. Whatever Lord Lin desires."
The moment he heard this, the armored landowner panicked.
He grabbed the village chief's sleeve.
"Village Chief! I am the landowner of Fishing Village! How can you just hand me over to him?!"
"You have to save me! You must save me!" he cried out desperately.
He had truly believed that as long as the village chief arrived, he would have backing.
But never in his worst nightmares did he imagine that this man was Lin Fan—the one who had instantly wiped out all the bosses in the Nine-Story Monster Tower, the master of Lady Maid.
Even the village chief revered him.
Trembling, he clung to the village chief's robe, his eyes filled with pleading desperation.
The village chief glanced down at him, a trace of pity flashing in his eyes.
But…
He had offended Lin Fan.
What could he possibly do to save him?
"You only have yourself to blame," the village chief said in frustration. "Of all the people to provoke, you had to choose Lord Lin?!"
With that, he shook off the armored landowner's grip, then turned back to Lin Fan with an expression of fearful deference.
Hearing this, the armored landowner fell into utter despair.
Lying motionless on the ground, he looked up at Lin Fan—who remained as composed as ever.
"You can't touch me! This is Fishing Village! I'm the landowner here!" The armored landowner shouted in panic, his body retreating step by step.
Lin Fan watched his pathetic display and chuckled indifferently.
"No rush. We can settle our accounts slowly," he said softly, yet his voice sent chills down everyone's spine.
The armored landowner, already trembling under the pressure, clenched his fists, forcing himself not to be afraid.
"This is Fishing Village! What can you do to me?!" he yelled, trying to muster some courage.
"Even when beating a dog, you have to consider its master! If you kill me in the village, wouldn't that be a slap in the chief's face?!"
His voice carried a hint of provocation, as if testing whether Lin Fan actually dared to kill him.
Hearing this pathetic roar, Lin Fan merely smiled faintly and turned to his newly purchased slaves.
"You two, go to this landowner's estate and empty everything out. Don't forget, he still owes Pande 160,000 gold coins. Make sure that debt is repaid in full. If he doesn't have enough money, sell off his land and slaves."
At these words, the armored landowner lost it.
His eyes burned with rage as he glared at Lin Fan.
"You dare?! If you lay a single—"
Before he could finish, the village chief kicked him to the ground.
"You ungrateful wretch! Shut up!" the chief roared furiously, before glancing nervously at Lin Fan.
"Lord Lin, this fool has no filter. I will personally punish him!"
Hearing this, Lin Fan let out a cold chuckle.
"Punish him? You must be mistaken about something. I never said I was handing him over to you."
The village chief froze and quickly lowered his head in fear.
"L-Lord Lin, your meaning is…?"
Lin Fan's gaze was cold and indifferent.
"Did I ever say he was going to live?"
The armored landowner was completely stunned.
What did he mean by that?
What did he mean by "Did I ever say he was going to live"?
Was Lin Fan really planning to kill him right here in Fishing Village?
"W-What are you trying to do?!" the landowner stammered, fear creeping into his voice.
"You wouldn't dare kill me! This is Fishing Village! I'm the landowner! You—"
"Lodson."
Before the landowner could finish, Lin Fan quietly called out a name.
In the next second, a shadow appeared beside him.
Lodson.
The towering warrior didn't hesitate for even a moment.
BAM!
A single punch landed squarely in the landowner's stomach.
"Gaaah!"
He screamed in agony, doubling over, clutching his gut.
But Lodson wasn't done.
BAM!
Another punch, even heavier than the last, slammed into his stomach.
"Aaaah—!"
His wails echoed through the marketplace.
The crowd winced as they watched. Some even turned away, unable to stomach the scene.
"This… this is too cruel."
"You have to understand… he messed with Lin Fan. The same Lin Fan who slaughtered all the bosses in the Nine-Story Monster Tower."
"I always wondered what kind of person Lin Fan was. Now I see it clearly."
"No way in hell would I ever dare cross him…"
The murmurs of the crowd filled the air.
Lodson, however, showed no intention of stopping.
His brutal, calculated strikes always landed on the most painful spots—yet never enough to kill.
The armored landowner's mind started fading from the unbearable pain.
Through the haze, he lifted his head and locked eyes with Lin Fan, his gaze filled with pure hatred.
"I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL YOU!" he shrieked desperately.
Lin Fan merely smiled at him.
"Lodson."
"Understood, Master," Lodson replied coolly.
His massive hand clamped down on the landowner's throat.
Then, with a sickening squelch—
He gouged out the landowner's eyeballs.
