Chapter 378 - Chapter 378: Librarian Works' Grand Scheme

"Understood..."

Everyone could sense the suppressed fury burning in Yang Hui's chest. Murrue and Natarle Badgiruel were moved, while Sumeragi, Wang Liu Mei, and Lacus understood. Though identical in appearance, fakes were still fakes. Librarian Works had touched a nerve they shouldn't have—Carbon Humans replicating Murrue and Natarle were nothing more than imposters in Yang Hui's eyes, an insult to the real women.

Truthfully, even Yang Hui hadn't anticipated this. After altering Natarle's fate, the ones who replaced her were not only a Carbon Human of Murrue but also one of Natarle.

Meanwhile, aboard the Dominion, Muruta Azrael's expression grew increasingly grim. Carbon Humans and Librarian Works were deeply buried secrets—within Blue Cosmos, only two or three individuals knew of their existence. Even among his superiors, those privy to the information could be counted on one hand.

How did Yang Hui know?

That no longer mattered. The intelligence regarding Librarian Works and Carbon Humans couldn't be exposed—witnesses had to be eliminated.

"Attack! He must die!"

"But..." Murrue (Carbon) and Natarle (Carbon) hesitated, their faces conflicted. Whatever alterations had been made to their memories during their creation, there were clear differences between the Carbon Humans and their originals.

For instance, the eerie mix of excitement and danger in their earlier smiles—something the real Murrue and Natarle would never display.

Moreover, Yang Hui could keenly sense it even through the screen—a piercing, possessive desire radiating from them.

Even now, Murrue (Carbon) and Natarle (Carbon) harbored deep resentment toward their originals, yet an extraordinary possessiveness toward Yang Hui. Muruta Azrael's orders filled them with both exhilaration and reluctance. They didn't want to kill Yang Hui—they wanted to capture him alive. The ones they were desperate to eliminate were the original Murrue and Natarle, along with Sumeragi, Wang Liu Mei, and Lacus.

"What are you waiting for!? Kill him now! Yang Hui—that man must die!" Muruta Azrael roared, seeing Murrue (Carbon) delay the attack order. "You know the consequences if your secret is exposed!"

At his words, Murrue (Carbon) and Natarle (Carbon) shuddered, fear flashing in their eyes before their expressions hardened with resolve. The attack command was swiftly issued.

"MS units, emergency sortie! Alter course to Sector Purple-13, MK20C, full speed ahead!"

"Activate Gottfried, CIWS Array, and Valiant systems! Load Collins missiles into launchers. Set terminal guidance to autonomous mode B and fire. Target Sector Orange A17 to 42—launch sequentially at 5-degree intervals."

"What the hell are you doing!?" Muruta Azrael bellowed at Murrue (Carbon) and Natarle (Carbon). One was turning away from the enemy ship right in front of them, while the other was firing missiles at a completely irrelevant location. To him, it looked like deliberate negligence.

"If you don't understand, then stay silent," Murrue (Carbon) retorted coldly. Compared to her original, she carried a sharper, more iron-willed demeanor reminiscent of Natarle.

"Tch, you'd better deliver results, or else... hmph!"

Muruta Azrael was equally irritated. In his eyes, Murrue (Carbon) and Natarle Badgiruel (Carbon) were no different from the Bio-CPUs—disposable tools. For mere tools to dare raise their voices at him was an insult. If they weren't still useful, he would have disposed of them immediately.

And then there was Yang Hui. Muruta Azrael didn't want to kill him outright. No, he wanted to capture Yang Hui, torture him until he begged for death, and then exploit every inch of his body—every strand of hair, every cell—for experiments. After all, in the eyes of the world's elites, Yang Hui was the strongest Natural, rivaling even the best Coordinators. Many were desperate to uncover the secret behind his power.

But now that Yang Hui knew about Librarian Works and Carbon Humans, he could no longer be left alive. Not just him—everyone who had heard those words today had to die here.

"Path cleared. Raider, launch… Next, Forbidden, launch…"

Following the order, the Raider Gundam, Forbidden Gundam, and Calamity Gundam sortied first. Clotho and Shani hadn't died. During the Orb defense battle, the Raider and Forbidden had indeed been destroyed by the Dawn Gundam, but thanks to the TP Armor's high pilot protection and Yang Hui's haste preventing a finishing blow, the two had miraculously survived.

"This time… we're definitely taking down those four!"

"Yeah…"

Clotho's bravado was met with agreement from Shani and Orga. Because of the Dawn Gundam, Clotho and Shani had endured torturous punishments after being rescued. Orga wasn't much better off—though he had avoided the final battle, he had lost to the Virtue Gundam, suffered severe injuries, and was punished just the same after recovering.

So, in the eyes of these three, the Dawn Gundam, Exia, Cherudim, and Virtue were no longer just targets—they were enemies to be personally slaughtered.

"Pfft, you really have the nerve to say that. Weren't you already beaten by them before? You only survived by sheer luck."

"Falus, what did you just say!?" The three of them burned with fury at the taunt.

Following the Raider, Forbidden, and Calamity, nine more Gundam-type Mobile Suits appeared—five of them Strike Gundam Es equipped with I.W.S.P Packs, and the remaining four…

"Just stating facts. Don't expect us to bail you out, strays."

"You bastard…"

"Enough." The argument between Clotho and Falus was escalating dangerously, nearly reaching the point of aiming weapons at each other, when a stern, commanding voice cut them off. "Settle your grudges in private. I don't care if you kill each other. But right now, we're in combat. Anyone who causes trouble, I'll take out first."

"Tch! Nosy bastard."

"Hmph, like I needed you to tell me."

Though resentful, Clotho and Falus stopped arguing. A closer look would reveal traces of fear on their faces.

The speaker was Leon, who, like the others, was a Bio-CPU. However, he was the first among all Bio-CPUs to survive successfully and grow to this point. At nearly 30 years old, this was nothing short of a miracle for a Bio-CPU.

Brainwashed from childhood, even after enduring cruel experiments, Leon flawlessly executed every order from above without hesitation—even if it meant committing suicide on the spot.

Matching his age, his strength was also the greatest. Shortly after his success, Leon was frequently dispatched on various covert missions. His MS piloting skills rivaled those of the elite in the ZAFT Forces. As he grew older and more Bio-CPUs survived, Leon's field missions decreased, and he primarily served as an instructor and executioner within the base.

"The enemy units are approaching. Spread out. Clotho, Shani, Orga—the three from Orb are yours. Retrieve the pride you lost yourselves."

"Understood." x3

At Leon's command, Clotho, Shani, and Orga dared not disobey. Moreover, Gundam Exia, Gundam Cherudim, and Gundam Virtue were originally their intended targets.

"Sin Five Brothers, according to intelligence, the remaining four units are codenamed Freedom, Justice, Rebirth, and Covenant—ZAFT's latest cutting-edge MS. They're yours. Capture at least one."

"Understood." x5

Five nearly identical voices responded simultaneously, their tones flat and devoid of emotion.

"Falus, Nia, Fat—you three, with me. We'll eliminate that man."

"Understood." x3

...

On the other side, the MS units of the Three Ships Alliance launched one after another. Dawn Gundam, accompanied by Gundam Exia, Gundam Cherudim, and Gundam Virtue, charged toward the enemy at full speed. Setsuna, Lyle, and Tieria could all sense Yang Hui's fury. Moreover, Raider Gundam, Forbidden Gundam, and Calamity Gundam had already escaped them twice.

On Earth, they could use the excuse that their Mobile Suits were only suited for ground combat. But now, in space—their most familiar and comfortable battlefield—if they let the enemy escape again, it would be utterly humiliating.

Following them were Freedom Gundam, Justice Gundam, Rebirth Gundam, and Covenant Gundam. The other MS units, including Mu's Strike, remained near the fleet for defense, in case the enemy had hidden forces.

"Yang Hui! Those Mobile Suits!" Kira exclaimed as new enemy MS appeared—ones that looked eerily familiar.

"Gale Strike, Hail Duel, Hail Buster, Nebula Blitz... Tch. Seems Librarian Works holds me in high regard, offering up all these units." Yang Hui recognized the four new MS at a glance—they were the signature models of Librarian Works, built using technology even the Earth Forces lacked, based on the five G Series Gundams. Aside from Abyss Aegis (an original unit, distinct from the Crimson Aegis series), they were all present.

"The four new units are mine. Setsuna, Lyle, Tieria—ensure those three don't escape. Kira, Athrun, Nicol, Dearka—the five identical ones are yours."

"Understood!" X9

No one objected to Yang Hui's assignment, as he had already proven his capabilities through his strength.

"They're coming, scatter!"

The mobile suits dispersed, each engaging their designated opponents, dividing the battlefield into three zones.

"Clang—!"

A Solid Sword was drawn, colliding violently with the Gale Strike Gundam's [Wing Saw] Ship-Slaying Sword, sending fierce sparks flying.

"Screeeeech—!"

The point of contact between the Solid Sword and the [Wing Saw] emitted a piercing sonic wave, the intense vibrations grinding against each other, neither gaining the upper hand.

"Hmm? A high-frequency vibration weapon? But it won't defeat my [Wing Saw]!"

"Crack—"

At that moment, cracks suddenly appeared on the Solid Sword in the Dawn Gundam's hand, causing Yang Hui's pupils to contract. The wings flared, releasing golden orbs of light that surged toward the Gale Strike Gundam.

However, the Hail Duel Gundam and Hail Buster Gundam closed in, their long-range firepower raining down around the two machines, scattering the bits.

The Dawn Gundam twisted its wrist, using the flat of the Solid Sword to deflect the [Wing Saw], while simultaneously dodging a follow-up slash. A kick landed on the Gale Strike Gundam's chest, using the recoil to flip backward and retreat.

Yet, at that very moment, the Nebula Blitz Gundam—which had vanished unnoticed—suddenly reappeared behind the Dawn Gundam, the [Trikeros] Offense-Shield System's Beam Saber aimed straight at its back.

But that wasn't all. The Gale Strike Gundam's thrusters flared, relentlessly pursuing the Dawn Gundam as the [Wing Saw] was raised high. Meanwhile, the Hail Duel Gundam and Hail Buster Gundam locked onto the Dawn Gundam from left and right, ready to fire at the slightest movement.
