Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Moth to a Flame.

"You know Your Majesty if you had told me about what you were doing I could have helped you gather the evidence quicker." He said.

"I know but there are just some thing that just needs to be done alone." I said as I lean back and closed my eyes.

"I understand... Will you be questioning her Your Majesty?" He as in a cautious tone. I open my eyes and looked down at Hans who was showing a worried expression. I tilted my head to the side.

"Of course, She is our special guest and we must show her how we take care of our guests here in the Empire." I said as I smiled down at Hans. He huffed in frustration and turned to leave the hall.

"Well, I better prepare everything for her then. We don't want her to be disappointed." He said as he walked out the hall.

Seraphina(POV)

"Are you ready Sera?"Asked Sir Brandon as he pulled the arrow ahead. Im on the ground getting myself ready to attack the Basilisk, serpent-like creature that wonders around this area and also in the No Man's Lands too. Granted they do like coming into RavenCrest territory to hunt and the kind of food they like to hunt is more of the walking and talking kind and other large creatures alike. They also known to eat one another so they are dangerous. Lucky they don't hunt together they are known as lone animal that don't like sharing they kills so it give us a piece of mind to know that when there's one there is really only one.

"I'm ready" I said as i tied up my dark hair in a bun. I lowered myself in to a running mark position and nodded my head to Sir Brandon to let him know he can start when he's is ready.

"Are you sure cause we can't stop this when we start." He said as he pulled his arrow back. I glared up at him.

"Yes Sir Brandon I understand that now can we get started before the monster-"

I didn't get to finish my words as I was the monster turn and spotted us sitting by the under grove.

"Shit! we have been spotted you need to go now." Sir Brandon said. Then he shot his arrow at the Basilisk and hit it right under its head on its long grey serpent body. It roared with madness as I shot myself with lightning speed to attack the monster well it was distracted. I make fine cuts with my short dagger around its body at the weak spots where I saw old scars and wounds making it lash out more as it whipping its head from side to side trying to catch me but with no lucky seeing that I'm to fast for it. Wanting to end this quickly I ran up on its spine to the top then I launched myself in air with the same lightning speed as Sir Brandon shot another arrow up towards me and I grad it with my free hand in mid air then I spin myself in the air with a force of a tronado then pushed down and plunged the sliver tipped arrow covered with Red Vain into the monster head. Red Vain is a plant that is venomous to serpent creature like the Basilisk. It grows deep in the humid mountains tops making it hard to find and even harder to grow but when found we collect them, dry them and turn them into paste. Then we dip the arrow in the paste and use it to hunt the creature if we get word that they are in our territory.

Half of my arm got stuck in his skull in the process. The monster stilling then fall with a loud thud as it jolted me down with it then nothing.

"Oh great! my arm is stuck" I said a I was panting in between breathing.

My body energy draining cause I over work myself with the final blow. Now my arm doesn't want to come out of the serpent head.

"Oh come on! some one please get me out of this." I called. Sir Brandon and Sol ran up to the dead monster and they stopped and looked up at me Sir Brandon showing a small smile of amusement well Sol my right hand guard stood there with his hands on his waist.

"Sol help me please, I don't think I can get it out." I said as I kept trying tug my arm free.

"Wait, why should I do it. This wasn't my idea so why should I get involved." Sol said in a bratty tone as he stepped back from the monster.

"Sol!" We both said. Me in more out of fusion well Sir Brandon in a 'Cause she is your boss so do it.' As he pushed him forward.

"Fine, but I did tell you this would happen cause the-"

"Yes! cause monsters like this tend to have softer skulls. I know, I just miss caluated that all now get me out!" I said as I tried to yank my arm once again.

Sol sighed and then climb the dead Basilisk and reach me then grad my one shoulder and my upper arm that wasn't stuck in the giant head and pulled. It took three tries but eventually I got my arm back. Sol with his deep green eyes and fire red hair exhale then took my hand and help me down off the monster then turn to him.

"Thanks Sol, you're the best. " I said as I put my hand that was covered in Basilisk goo on his shoulder and smiled up at him innocently. "Come on, I just got this!" He wined as he scrunched up his face.

I turned to Sir Brandon and saw him waiting with a cloth in hand as the wind blow his brown locks to the side. Since moving to RavenCrest Sir Brandon has been keeping his hair long. Not to long though for he didn't want it to be in the way when he fights. I have asked him from time to time if he feels that it's getting in his way why doesn't he just cut it off like before but he keeps say 'no' and that ' it's keeps his head warm in the winter.' I laughed at that. Cause what he doesn't know is that I already knew the real reason why he kept it that way and it starts with a little maid of mine called Lizzy. Well, she isn't just my little maid anymore since she and Sir Brandon married two summers ago. Before anything happened I already knew that he was a goner the moment they met and after 1 year of practically pushing them into each others arms. She was it to and fall just as hard as he did.

"Let's go my Liz will be cooking for me today and I don't want to get there when her food is cold." He said in a stern tone but me and Sol know that he means it with love. Sir Brandon is the kind of man who hides his true emotions to others giving him a grumpy exterior but when it comes to Lizzy he is as soft a giant teddy bear. He never lets her feel sad, alone or even less than and he alway I mean always eats Lizzy's food even though her cooking is the kind that can make the Angel of Death rethink his life choices, go into early retirement and give her the job.

"You really going to -" Sol stops his words as Sir Brandon turns to face him with a menacing look. Oh that's another thing, never I mean never talk about Lizzy death food that she cooks, he hates that. He knows that Lizzy can't cook but he doesn't care cause that how much he loves her even though one time he was stuck in the toilet for 3 days and night for eating Lizzy new take on chicken pot stew. Two hour off the stove the stew in question was still boiling and we still don't know half of the ingredients she put in that thing.

"My Wife is an amazing cook. She spends all day cooking for me cause she love me so why am I not going to eat that thing she cooked with her love." He said in a steel tone. When he said 'thing' it sounded like he was in pain, like he knew the out come of the journey and saw death at the end but still is walking towards it, like a moth to a flame. I smiled.

"Ok then, let's get you back home quickly so you won't miss anything." I said as I passed by wiping away the Basilisk goo from my arm.

Sol ran up next to me and leaned over to whisper in my ear "He does know that her cooking will end his life one day. right?" He chuckled, I slapped him on the chest with the cloth that was now covered with thick mucus like slim. His face cringe in disgust knowing that now his whole outfit is ruin.

"Your Grace!"
