Ariana stared at Nana in disbelief. Nana's words had clearly insulted her. Yet aside from glaring at her in resentment, Ariana could do almost nothing else. The pain radiating through the nerves in her face seemed to be reminding her just how terrifying the woman before her truly was.
Nana's foot pressed down on her face, grinding her against the ground, as though all of Ariana's efforts in the past had finally turned to dust today. As though even if she managed to enter Lumina, so what? She was still a useless person who would always have to swallow her humiliation.
The only one who had not looked at her with disgust... that person was already dead...
Ariana belatedly thought of Silvanus. Clearly, she had hated him, yet her tears still flowed uncontrollably.
