Chapter 241: Fake Out
Voldemort let out a roar before charging directly at him. The Dark Lord moved so fast that the ground beneath his feet was turned to dust by the sheer heat and pressure being produced.
His figure became a blur, and the next instant, he was holding James by the neck.
James couldn't really see what happened, but when compared to that old witch from Hogsmeade, it was obvious that Voldemort was much faster than her.
Perhaps this was caused by his considerably younger age, or maybe that ritual expert whom Voldemort found out was able to make some improvements on the process.
James felt the mighty hand gripping his neck and lifting his entire body into the air.
"Are you giving up already, Potter?!" Voldemort said with a tone of frustration. He had gone through great lengths and suffered an excruciating amount of pain to get this body.
All so he could guarantee his victory and kill all his enemies.
He, of course, was expecting to win, but not this fast. And it made him feel furious, but also… when looking into James' eyes, he saw no fear, and that made him uneasy.
"What's wrong, Tom? Aren't you going to break my neck? Show your followers how strong you really are." After James' words came out, he felt the grip on his neck becoming stronger, digging his fingers into his soft flesh.
"Where did you hear that name?!" Voldemort shouted with such force that all the grass around them was blown away. Noticing that James was unable to speak, the Dark Lord softened the strength of the grip. "Answer me!"
James smiled. "Does it matter? I know a lot about you, Tom. Maybe even more than you do yourself."
"Who are you, really…" From the beginning, Voldemort suspected this boy had some personal vendetta against him, but that should not be possible since they hadn't met before. And as far as he knew, he had never done anything against a member of the Potter family either.
"Master!"
"My Lord! There is something in the air!"
His followers began to exclaim and point at the sky.
"Mmm?" Voldemort shifted his eyes around and found the target of his followers' concerns.
She was very high in the air, but with his enhanced vision, Voldemort could see Nyxaris as if she were right in front of him.
"That fairy…" He recalled seeing her briefly in James' memories. The boy had used her during his fight with the witch.
"You want to trap us in here? Is that your plan?" He remembered the barrier that was used to contain the witch. "I see… you were trying to distract me while that creature of yours attempts to trap me inside a barrier… ridiculous plan." He didn't believe any magical barrier would be able to contain him for long. It was a futile attempt.
"My Lord, what do we do?"
"It's too far away. Our spells won't reach," the Death Eaters said. They hadn't brought any dementors either, so unless they got onto their flying brooms, they had no other way to get up there.
"Forget it!" Voldemort scoffed. "That little creature can't do anything to me. I will take care of it after I crush this boy's head…"
The Dark Lord turned his attention to James. "It looks like I have overestimated your abilities, Mister Potter. But I want you to know that, after I'm done with you, I will go find the rest of your family. Do you have any last words?"
"Yes, Tom… I do," said James in a soft tone. "I hope you like my family fields, because this is going to be your final resting place."
Voldemort scoffed at the brazen comment, but also wondered where all this confidence was coming from.
He almost expected to find some resistance or for something to stop him from crushing the boy's neck, and yet… nothing did. It was so easy to do. Voldemort could even hear a loud crunch as he applied more pressure with his grip.
Just as he began to feel relief, he noticed something strange occurring to James' body.
"What is this?" Voldemort saw the body of 'James' turn into a dull grey color before it began breaking apart and dissolving into dust.
"No…" he muttered under his breath.
Now he finally understood why James didn't look concerned for his own safety. The 'thing' that he had been holding in his grasp was never the real James Potter but some sort of cheap copy made by magic.
He then recalled that during his fight with the witch, James had used a spell to create duplicate bodies of himself.
"Tsk! Where is the real one?!" he screamed. "Where are you?!" The ground began to crack under his feet as his magic reacted to his own rage and lashed out against the environment.
His followers trembled, and even the mighty giants looked concerned, wondering if the Dark Lord would turn his frustration on them.
Voldemort's red eyes shifted to the large group he brought along. "Find him! He must be somewhere in the castle!"
The werewolves were the first ones to run out. Under Fernir's command, the pack of beasts began running toward the Potter Castle.
"I smell something up there!" one of the men said while pointing at the repaired tower.
Just then, they saw what looked like a person jumping off the tower.
"Is that him?!" Fernir asked, but there was no need to answer that, as they immediately realized that it was not.
What landed on the ground, at the base of the tower, was a young girl with long black hair.
And she was completely naked.
A.N - I cannot make a naked version. Use your imagination :) -
The entire pack of werewolves stopped in their tracks, and for a moment, they even forgot what they were supposed to be doing.
A smirk appeared on Fernir's face as he stared at the stunning beauty in front of him. "I hope the Lord doesn't mind if I play with this one for a bit, right?"
