Chapter 243: Who are You?

"Who do you think he is?" Sirius asked Bella after the old man and their grandfather went downstairs.

"I have no idea. But…" Bella thought about something for a moment. "Grandfather was very polite to him." Not many people would get to call Lord Pollux by his first name in such a casual tone.

"Must be someone important… he said he owed James a favour. I wonder what he did," Sirius said.

"Forget it… That's not what's important right now." Bella glanced at Sirius. "I know why you were so insistent on being here."

"Do you?"

Bella shifted her attention to the window. The black-cloaked men were starting to make their way towards the house, meaning that the flimsy wards must have been broken apart. "You're here in case Aunt Walburga shows up."

Sirius did not respond.

"What are you planning on doing if you see her?" Bella asked. She didn't believe that Sirius would do something like killing his own mother, but she wasn't so sure about what Walburga would be willing to do to Sirius.

"I don't know… I guess I need to see her first," Sirius said. "Do you think she regrets joining the Dark Lord?."

"I wouldn't get my hopes up on that one." Bella shook her head. "Get your wand ready, because they are walking inside." From the window, she saw the trolls being brought to the front.

A moment later, they heard the entrance of the house being destroyed by their mighty wooden clubs.

"Come on. Stay close to me." Bella pulled on Sirius's robes.

"Did James give you one of his… ehm… creatures?" asked Sirius. He did notice that she was not wearing any rings this time.

"No creatures," Bella responded. "But I do have a few tricks."

On the floor below, Pollux and the old wizard stood at the base of the stairs, watching as the entrance was demolished into pieces by a group of trolls.

As soon as their chains were released, the creatures charged ahead, with a clear goal in mind...to kill anything they came across.

Trolls were very strong but not too smart, so they needed simple commands or they would get confused.

"Do you have a plan for these?" Pollux asked. "Haven't fought a troll since I was a teenager."

"Trolls have a high resistance to magic, but there is always a simple answer to that." The old man aimed his wand at the first troll who crossed into the house.

"Endloses Feuer," the man spoke in a perfect German accent.

He produced a stream of red liquid that burst into orange flames as soon as it touched the skin of the troll.

The creature let out a bloodcurdling cry of agony and ran in the opposite direction, colliding with some of the other trolls and spreading the flames around.

A few seconds later, four trolls had most of their bodies enveloped in flames, as these seemed to be spreading too quickly for the Death Eaters to react.

"See?" the old wizard said. "Resistant to magic doesn't mean they are unaffected by the four basic elements. Fire still burns them, and their greasy bodies fuel the flames even further."

Pollux nodded. "Very effective indeed."

However, their issues were far from over. While several Death Eaters were now trying to save the burning trolls, the remaining eight were still moving into the house, along with several white-masked men.

"Pollux!" Abraxas Malfoy shouted at him. "I didn't believe you would actually be here. Prepare to die!"

"That was a neat trick… but I won't let you do it again." Dolohov walked close to the trolls to make sure he could deflect whatever they threw at them.

His eyes moved to the old wizard next to Pollux. "And who are you?..."

"Hmph… it seems like youngsters these days have forgotten about me. I'm not too surprised." The old wizard tapped Pollux on the back. "Divide and conquer."

Pollux nodded. They would only get in each other's way if they both stood in the same place. He turned around and went through a door next to the stairs.

"I'll go get him," Abraxas said. "Travers, with me. And…" He pointed at several other Death Eaters to accompany him.

"Go, we'll deal with the…" Dolohov stopped for a moment when he spotted some movement upstairs. "Looks like we have more upstairs."

"Let me go," Lucius said with anticipation.

Dolohov glanced at Walburga. "Go with the boy. I'm sure your family will be eager to see you."

Walburga had her face covered with a mask but was clearly frowning.

"And don't forget that if something happens to the young heir…" Dolohov let the threat hang.

"I know." The witch scoffed.

"Make a path for them!" Dolohov commanded the trolls, and they attacked the old wizard.

This one whispered something under his breath, and the next moment, his body moved at an impossible speed, avoiding several large clubs as they impacted the wooden stairs.

The trolls were not undermined by this, and after locating their target, they continued their attack.

Meanwhile, Lucius and Walburga made their way upstairs, where Bella and Sirius were hiding.

"I don't know who you are, but I bet you're regretting getting involved in this," Dolohov commented as he watched the old man being pursued by eight large trolls.

"I am not the one at a disadvantage, boy." The old man's eyes flickered to one of the trolls. "Durchbohren!"

The piercing hex was able to perforate the skull of the closest troll, despite its resistance, killing the creature instantly.

Dolohov was shocked to see this. As someone extremely experienced in magical combat, he could tell immediately that this man was far from ordinary.

But it was the next spell he used that made Dolohov worried.

"Protego Diabolica." As the old wizard spoke those words, a circle of blue flames rose around him, preventing any of the trolls from approaching any further.

"You…" Dolohov's eyes were wide as plates. "Where did you get that spell?" He had never seen it in person but had heard his father talk about this piece of magic.

After all, it was the signature spell used by the previous Dark Lord.
