Chapter 246: A Helping Hand
As soon as Pollux went outside, he was hit by a bright light that illuminated the entire garden, and when he glanced up, he saw a massive white flame in the sky.
"Is that?... James?" He had never seen it in person, but by this point, everyone in Britain must have heard about the white alchemy flame used by James Potter.
But what he didn't understand was the reason for using them right now, at least not until he spotted the shadows moving in between the flames.
"The dementors!" Pollux exclaimed when he saw that the white flames were encircling the creatures.
"Crucio!"
Pollux dodged just in time to avoid a curse coming his way, but in the attempt, he lost his balance and fell onto the ground with a loud thud. "Urgg!"
"Hmph! Bad choice," said Abraxas as he made a gesture to the other masked men to surround Lord Black. "You have no way to escape."
"No, I suppose I do not," said Pollux. "Why don't you get closer and kill me yourself, Abraxas?" The eyes of the old Patriarch were still sharp as blades.
Malfoy smirked in response. "A blood traitor like you doesn't deserve such an honor. Just die like the pest you always were… your family of traitors will follow soon. The Dark Lord wi—"
"The Dark Lord is already dead."
They all heard a voice coming from above them. It was then that they saw the massive white fire burning in the sky, as they had been so focused on killing Lord Pollux that no one had noticed it before.
"Ahh!" One of the Death Eaters screamed when he felt something hit him.
His robes began to smoke as the man's cries of pain became louder and louder.
"Find them!" Abraxas was the one put in charge, so he ordered his men to locate the attacker while he turned his attention back to Lord Black.
"Avada Kedavra!"
Pollux reacted by lifting part of the ground as protection from the curse before aiming his wand at Malfoy. "Crucio!"
As he expected, Malfoy was able to avoid his spell, but while doing this, he had missed the fact that Pollux had also thrown the second potion vial at his feet.
The glass flask broke apart as it touched the ground and smoke started to come out.
Abraxas gasped when he saw this and hurried to cover his mouth.
This moment of distraction was what Pollux was counting on, and he took the chance to retaliate.
Abraxas grunted in pain when some powerful force hit his wand hand, breaking some of his fingers as his wand was sent flying away.
Now that he had him disarmed, Pollux went for the killing blow. With a swift jab of his wand, he sent a piercing hex through Malfoy's skull.
But he could not relax yet, as there were many enemies still alive. However, he soon noticed that all around him, Death Eaters were screaming and falling down.
They were desperately trying to find an invisible attacker.
"Homenum Revel—urggg!" The first Death Eater who thought about using the revealing charm was rewarded with a devastating exploding curse aimed at his head, leaving behind a gruesome vision of gore.
Pollux could not help but be impressed. In the time it took him to kill Malfoy… James had already dispatched six men, leaving only two left.
A bolt of lightning seemed to appear out of nowhere and killed one of them.
The last Death Eater was now fully panicking. "W-wait… I surr—"
Pollux wasn't even sure what curse had hit the man, but one moment he was alive, and the next… he dropped dead.
Only then did James remove the invisibility and show himself to Lord Pollux.
"I was starting to doubt that you were coming to help," Pollux told the young man after seeing him.
"Had to take care of something important. I hope the old man was of some help."
Pollux raised an eyebrow. "You do know who that is, right?..." He didn't think someone who actually knew of the legendary Wolfram Grindelwald would just call him 'old man.'
James just responded with a mischievous smirk.
"James!"
They both looked up, just in time to see someone jumping from the second-floor window.
James used a wandless levitating charm to slow down her fall before catching Bella in his arms.
"You reckless girl!" Pollux exclaimed. "What did you do that for?"
Bella had a wide smile on her face as she wrapped her arms around James's neck. "I just killed Lucius!" she gushed.
James made a complicated expression. "I'm not in any position to judge, but… should you be that happy about killing someone?"
Pollux sighed. "She has always been an odd one. Even by our family standards."
"I cut his arm and pushed him out of a window," Bella felt the need to add.
"Okay?…" James didn't know what he was supposed to say.
"Wait, what about Sirius? Is he okay?" Pollux asked.
"You brought Sirius too?" James looked surprised. He had expected Bella to be here, but not him. "That was not the plan."
"He wanted to be here in case his mother showed up… which she did," Bella said. "But he is fine. Aunt Walburga is now restrained, and Sirius is keeping an eye on her."
"Are there no more enemies inside the mansion? Maybe I should go check," Pollux suggested.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," said James. "That old man can handle the rest." James put Bella back on the ground.
He pointed at the sky with his thumb. "I'd better go finish the job up there."
Pollux and Bella looked up at the sky and saw that the white flames were still moving around.
They had been rounding up a massive number of dementors.
"So many!" Bella exclaimed.
"Can your flames damage those creatures?" Pollux asked.
"Damage them? Yes. Destroy them? No," James stated.
"Then why are you bringing them all together?" Bella questioned.
James pointed at a lower spot. "Because I brought someone who can get rid of them for good."
Beneath the mass of dementors, there was an elegantly dressed man, standing on top of a floating sword.
