Chapter 247: Two Flames
"Mister Potter." The man standing on top of the flying sword glanced at James as this one floated to his side.
James could comfortably lift his body with just his magic, so he had no need for a flying artifact.
"Ehm…" James had just realized that he had never asked this man for his name. He only knew him as the Kunlun Chancellor.
The old man seemed to realize his dilemma and smiled with amusement. "Mister Lee will do."
"Mister Lee." James nodded. "I almost have them in place." He willed his flames to minimize the circle, forcing the dementors to get closer to each other.
There were thin lines of flames on the top and bottom as well, preventing them from escaping the cage that James had created for them.
"I do have to say…" Mister Lee spoke. "I have never faced this type of creature before. Are you convinced that my flames will destroy them?"
"I will admit that it is mostly speculation on my part. From what I know of the Primordial Jade Flames, they are capable of destroying ethereal creatures like spirits and ghosts, as well as consuming souls," James said.
"That is correct. The Jade Flames do have that peculiarity," Mister Lee admitted. "It is not public knowledge, so I'm a bit surprised that you knew this much about them."
"I am a resourceful person. Now…" James closed the encirclement until it was only around sixty feet wide. "It's ready."
"Then… excuse me." The Chancellor formed a small flame on his palm with a vibrant green color.
To the onlookers, it almost reminded them of the Floo Network fire, but this one carried a very intense aura.
It was also different from the one being emitted by James's flames.
While the Argent Flames gave an oppressive feeling caused by their sheer power, the green ones felt more mystical in nature and caused their very souls to shake in their presence.
The dementors were also able to feel the danger and tried to escape their cage, but the Argent Flames would not allow that.
When they got too close to the fire, it burned their black cloaks and caused them immense pain.
Mister Lee released the whisper of green fire, and it began to slowly travel through the air, approaching the dementors' cage.
As it moved, it seemed to absorb something from the air and began to grow larger and larger.
When it reached the cage, the Promordial Flames were almost the same size as the white ones.
The two flames mixed together, burning with more intensity, while the dementors inside let out loud cries of agony.
Green and white flames moved around, forming a rotating sphere that promised death to anyone who dared to approach.
However, no matter how close they were to each other, the two distinct flames never mixed with each other and remained separate, like water and oil.
The terrifying phenomenon continued for over a minute, until they could no longer hear any noise coming from within.
Only then did James and Mister Lee make their Primordial Flames retreat and return to the points of origin from where they had been called.
When the flames disappeared, there was not a single trace of the dementors, not even a tiny burnt piece of their cloaks. It was like they had never existed in the first place.
The audience looked in shock at what had just happened, not even noticing there was one more person now.
"Oh! What a wonderful spectacle!" said Wolfram Grindelwald.
Lord Pollux glanced at the old wizard. "When did you get here?"
"Just in time to not miss this," Wolfram responded. "I never thought I would see a Primordial Alchemy Flame in person, and now I have seen two in action."
"What about the trolls and those other masked fellows?" Lord Pollux asked. He had left a few unconscious ones.
Wolfram smiled in a way that made Pollux feel shivers. "You don't need to worry about them again. I cleaned the house."
"I see…"
"But I'm afraid that I have burned your house's hall a little bit. I hope you don't mind," the old man said.
Pollux couldn't care less about the house itself. "It's fine...wait, is grandson okay?." His eyes moved to the house.
Bella saw that James and the other wizard were descending from the sky while having a conversation and decided to approach.
She was only able to catch their last words and saw that James handed the other man a piece of parchment.
"Very well, Mister Potter. Our business agreement is concluded, and the payment has been accepted," Mister Lee said. "If there is something else you require from the Kunlun Empire in the future, feel free to contact us again."
With that being said, the old Chancellor tapped the sword with his feet and flew away at tremendous speed.
"Whoa! That was faster than any broom I have seen before," Bella exclaimed.
James glanced at the girl while his feet touched the ground. "Swords are more resistant to enchantments than wooden brooms, so you can be more heavy-handed with them. But they wouldn't be very safe for playing Quidditch."
"If Quidditch were played on those… I would go watch it more often," Bella commented.
"Did you get hurt?" James asked. He hadn't had the time to examine her, but was now noticing that her legs were trembling.
"Got hit by a Cruciatus," Bella said with a weary smile. "I was a bit careless…"
"Drink this." James produced a potion from his robes and gave it to her. "It will null the pain for a while."
"Thanks!" Bella said after drinking the potion. She could feel the effects immediately. "So...who was that man?."
"A fellow alchemist from China." James was sure that Voldemort would try to mobilize the dementors and made a gamble by bringing this man here. Now he no longer has to worry about those creatures.
'The Ministry will have to hire more wizards to control the prison.' He thought it would be a worthwhile change.
"Mmm..." Bella still wanted to know more about how James knew a Chinese alchemist, or what that piece of paper that he handed as payment contained. But she felt this was not the right time for that.
"Is this over then? What happened to the Dark Lord?"
"Mmm? I don't know yet."
"You don't know? I thought…" Bella had been convinced that James had everything under control.
James shrugged. "Don't get me wrong. I'm sure he's not having a good time, if he's still alive. But I will need to go check and make sure." He extended his hand to her. "Wanna come along?. Everything seems to be under control."
Bella did not hesitate to grab his hand.
"Mister Potter." The old wizard was aproaching.
James glanced at him and nodded. "Thanks for the asistance."
"I presume that we are even now."
"We are. The favour has been repaid."Said James.
The old wizard seems satisfied. "That's good. Are you still going after that Voldemort fellow?."
James's eyes became colder. "I am." He knew that telling this to the father of a former Dark Lord was not the best idea, but the old man didn't seem offended...if anything, he looked happy.
