Chapter 249: Connections
After fusing with Aura, Ultima suffered a complete transformation.
Unlike James, who was a human, Ultima's body was basically a magical artifact of the highest quality and could assimilate the divine energies coming from Aura in ways that he never could.
By her own will, Aura transformed not into a set of robes, but into a pristine golden armor that would protect her from any harm while also enhancing her body at the same time.
Due to their connection and close proximity, Tertivor and Primum had also changed, becoming imbued with the primal magic from Aura, as well as Ultima.
Tertivor, the metallic slime, transformed into a mighty golden sword. Its metal also changed in nature, adopting the qualities of the Magicite that James had initially used to form the Divine Leather into Aura.
The magical sword was now able to channel Ultima's power through its blade, infusing it with a golden shine.
"Roar!" Primum's mighty voice resounded all over the castle's courtyard, shaking the ground and producing large cracks.
Almost forty Death Eaters, twelve giants, and one Dark Lord were staring with eyes that showed disbelief and confusion.
The men were already ready to turn around and escape, and even Voldemort could feel his confidence wavering.
However, the decision was no longer theirs…
Seven massive pillars of pure white marble fell from the sky, surrounding the castle's field.
Runes of light manifested on their surface, and thin lines spread from every pillar to the next one, completing the seal...and their fate.
"I did it…" Up in the sky, a completely exhausted Nyxaris carried a weary smile. Instead of using the five-pillar formation that she had previously invoked against the dark witch, she had imploded the most powerful version she could muster with her abilities.
She had promised her Master that no one was going to get away. In order to guarantee this, Nyxaris had not held back one bit and used every drop of power she had in her tiny body.
This did not leave her enough to even maintain her flight, and she was about to fall back to the ground… when a pair of hands grabbed her gently.
"Well done, little one," a melodious female voice said as she prevented her fall. "That is a very impressive barrier."
"Who…" Nyxaris shifted her head around as fast as she could and found herself staring at a familiar face. This was the woman that her Master would usually meet during his visits to Knockturn Alley...the owner of the Black Rose, whom her Master referred to as Lady Rose.
Except this time, Nyxaris realized there was something different about her.
"Looks like my intervention was unnecessary after all," Lady Rose said.
Nyxaris had several questions right now. "What do y—"
"Caw!"
Before she could even ask one, the little fairy was startled by a loud sound coming from beneath them, and as she poked her head from the border of Lady Rose's hands, she discovered that the woman had been standing on top of a gigantic black crow.
"Don't startle her, B." Lady Rose had a frown on her face. Turning her attention back to Nyx, she spoke again. "Your Master hired me to come here and keep an eye on you, in case you needed any assistance."
"He did?..." Nyxaris wasn't sure how to feel about that.
Guessing what the little creature was thinking, Lady Rose spoke again. "He trusts you." Her face got closer to Nyxaris. "But a father will always worry."
It was then that Nyxaris realized what was so different about Lady Rose right now.
Her eyes had always been black, but right now, they were green. They had such an intense tone of green that it was difficult to see anything else when the woman stared at her.
The feeling around her had also changed. Nyxaris couldn't quite guess what it was, but it felt very different from anything she had felt before. It was ancient and primal…
"Now…" Lady Rose's attention shifted to the ground, where Ultima had just unleashed the power of Aura. "I have to admit that I agreed to Mister Potter's request in large part to quench my own curiosity. I wanted to see what kind of creature he had made with all those rare materials. But… I wasn't expecting this."
She continued to watch with curiosity as the situation developed on the ground.
Primum had jumped in front of Ultima and opened its mouth.
"The dragon!"
"Careful!!" Everyone began to panic.
Voldemort clenched his fists and tensed his legs. He was not going to allow the enemy to continue to act with impunity.
A moment later, he disappeared from the spot and moved as fast as he could toward the dragon.
"No."
The Dark Lord heard the voice from the now blonde girl, but did not see her. What he did see was a golden sword barely missing his head.
If it wasn't for his inhuman reflexes, he could never have avoided that attack and would have likely ended up in the same state as the werewolf pack.
After moving away, he spotted Ultima chasing after him. Meanwhile, the dragon fired what looked like a white beam of light from its mouth, aimed directly at the core of his army.
The Death Eaters had conjured magical shields to protect themselves from the dragon's flames.
Unfortunately for them, what Primum shot was nothing like fire. That white beam that Voldemort saw was, in actuality, a pale yellow liquid.
The thick liquid washed over a large group of Death Eaters and some of the giants.
"Ahh!"
"It burns!"
"Nooo!" The men began to scream.
Their shields had proven to be useless against the attack. The liquid splashed everywhere, touching their clothes, shoes, and skin.
Everything that was merely grazed by it began to melt away.
