The conditions given by Dumbledore were not particularly favorable; they only ensured the survival of the mutants.
However, Charles and the others were extremely pleased with this!
The future of mutants does not rely on the charity of othersāCharles and Eric had been striving for this very goal.
Although they used different methods and even treated "enemies" differently, their ultimate goals were the same.
The help given by others would always make them feel inferior, and that was not something these two proud men desired.
Therefore, the conditions offered by Dumbledore were the most satisfying for both of them. After some thought, they immediately agreed!
As for the monitoring, it applied only to adults like them. Dumbledore assured them that the children would not be monitored.
This, too, was to their satisfaction. After all, they were adults, and their abilities were far beyond those of the younger mutants.
Additionally, Eric had a long criminal record, so it would be strange if the Ministry of Magic did not keep an eye on him.
Regarding the length of the monitoring, Dumbledore did not go into detail, but mentioned an inspection system.
As long as their performance met certain criteria, they would be deemed integrated and safe. Those who failed would be expelled.
Charles and the others conversed with Dumbledore for hours, and the discussion didn't end until evening. They seemed quite satisfied with the outcome.
For Dumbledore, this arrangement fulfilled the wishes of the Supreme Sorcerer, and cultivating a good relationship with him was undoubtedly the right choice.
For the mutants, they had found a new place where they could begin life anew.
Although this world was strange and novel, it made them feel like ordinary people!
They could walk down the streets without fear, chat with others freely, and no longer worry about being stared at with strange eyes.
During their stay, Noah also chimed in a few times, such as: "Professor Dumbledore, don't you think the Ministry of Magic is a bit outdated? When I was in Kamar-Taj, I could use the internet freely, but here it's a hassle just to make a phone call."
This comment reminded Dumbledore that the outside world was rapidly advancing, while their magical world seemed to be lagging behind.
Of course, there was nothing inherently wrong with this, but why not embrace something newer and more modern?
Their train system had been taken over by a certain Minister of Magic from the Muggle world. The previous Minister had kept pace with the Muggles, so surely Dumbledore, who didn't discriminate against Muggles, would not resist progress.
This was, of course, impossible.
With Noah's assistance, Charles offered to help the magical world acquire these modern conveniences and help them adjust to such an environment.
After all, Charles' team was full of scientific talent, and the equipment they created was highly advanced.
Dumbledore did not refuse this suggestion and even started contemplating whether students should learn some subjects like physics and chemistry.
However, after thinking it over, he dismissed the idea. The magical world had a wealth of knowledge that was completely different from that of the Muggle world.
Learning too much could be detrimental to magicians.
After the agreement was settled, Charles and Eric lived in the British magical world for a whole month.
Once they had a brief understanding of the local conditions, they began bringing other mutants into the fold.
Charles, having taken in many young mutants, had the largest group.
Eric, on the other hand, was fortunate enough to have fewer mutants, all of whom were adults.
When they first arrived in the magical world, they were cautious and hesitant. But after interacting with magicians over time, they realized that the magicians didn't seem like monsters at all.
In fact, these magicians seemed to resemble monsters more than they did!
This made them feel as though they had found their kin. Even some of the magicians who had incomplete mutations were not looked at with disgust, but with admiration.
"Brave young man, dedicating yourself to the cause of magic, it's truly impressive. So, I can recommend you a transformation potion. Drink it, and you'll look like a normal person for one week. It's five gold galleonsāwhat do you think?"
The mutants who hadn't fully mutated were at a loss for words. Despite explaining, "We're not magicians, we're mutants,"
The response they received was, "So what? You're in the magical world now; you're one of us. So, do you want to consider it?"
After spending a few weeks in the magical world, the mutants began to feel that they were more suited to this place.
By the time half a year had passed, they felt fully integrated into this world. They started to study the local knowledge in order to adapt better to their new environment.
After a year, they no longer thought about the Muggle world at all. For them, the magical world had become their home. They were no longer freaks or monsters; they were simply part of this world!
Dumbledore did not offer them any special treatment, as he had promised, and they eventually ran into some challenges.
Since Dumbledore wouldn't intervene and they had to familiarize themselves with this new world on their own, the year was largely spent in study.
Whether it was Eric, Charles, or their subordinates, everyone was studying daily.
Charles even hired some teachers and bought textbooks from Diagon Alley, starting from the most basic lessons.
Since they didn't learn any magic but focused on history, geography, and various countries' cultures, it took them just over a year to finish their studies.
In terms of general knowledge, they had already become qualified residents of the magical world.
Of course, they also learned about recent events in the magical world, particularly the rise of Voldemort.
When they discovered Voldemort's history, they all turned to look at Eric.
Eric's face showed deep distress. After all, there had been previous "forerunners" who had done similar things, and their ends were nothing short of tragic.
Eric and his friends studied on their own, while the children he brought with him entered Hogwarts.
Dumbledore kept his promise and ensured they had the opportunity to learn. Although it wasn't clear if this education could help the mutants improve their abilities, few seemed to pay attention to that.
Dumbledore even communicated with Charles, Eric, and Jean. Charles and Jean, with their strong mental powers, were particularly suited to learn magic.
Eric, with his own considerable abilities, might find it useful to learn how to control his powers using magic.
Though the magical world was a fascinating place, it wasn't a fairytale.
At its core, magic was still the essence of what defined magicians. Despite numerous rules and regulations, their essence remained unchanged.
Charles accepted this, and Eric agreed as well, so they remained low-key.
In response to Dumbledore's proposal, they did not refuse. They knew that only with sufficient power could they truly protect themselves.
As time passed, the mutants quickly became integrated into the magical world.
However, Eric and his group encountered a problemāthey had no money.
Eric, not wanting to depend on Charles, parted ways with him after learning some new knowledge.
To make ends meet, Eric shamelessly approached Dumbledore for help.
Dumbledore, who was sitting at his desk handling official business at the time, was curious about why Eric had come.
Now that the magical world had access to the internet, and with Charles' help, it had become much more modernized, Dumbledore found Eric's situation somewhat amusing.
He couldn't understand why Eric had insisted on separating from Charles. In Dumbledore's memory, Charles was quite wealthy, but he didn't deny Eric's desire to support himself.
So, Dumbledore wrote a letter to Eric and told him to take it to 221B Baker Street.
Dumbledore explained that there was an exorcist's office there, founded by Noah, who had once attacked him.
This suggestion sparked an idea in many adult mutants. They knew that exorcists didn't hold high status in the magical world,
But there were exceptions. For example, the exorcist agency Dumbledore mentioned had a very close relationship with magicians.
Mutant children who had entered Hogwarts had heard about a small, powerful organization within the school, which seemed to have been founded by Noah.
To join this organization, one had to be capable and prove themselves by completing a task.
One day, after Constantine returned from an outing with Chase, he found his agency surrounded by a group of unusual individuals.
Although they appeared honest, they made Constantine cautious.
"So, all these mutants came to you looking for work?" Noah asked, holding a mobile phone to his ear, his face contorted with amusement.
"Yeah! Damn it! You know, if I say no, I won't sleep tonight! They even have women pretending to be me to take missionsāare these people crazy?"
Constantine yelled at the phone, causing Noah to chuckle.
He hadn't expected Eric's mutants to act this way. Noah, however, had no choice but to ask, "How did you handle it?"
"What else could I do?" Constantine sighed, cigarette dangling from his mouth. "I agreed to let them join. It just so happened that there were mutants causing trouble in London, so I let them take care of it."
"Why do I feel like you're actually kind of happy about this? With so many capable subordinates, aren't you satisfied?"
"Don't be ridiculous! Don't I have to pay them? You annoying guy, you throw everything my way and then act like you're off the hook!"
