"So, you came to me hoping that I can help you complete these studies?" Charles sat in his wheelchair, quietly observing Noah, his face filled with a warm smile.
Although Charles and Noah were not very familiar with each other, Charles had a positive impression of him. As the first magician Charles had met, Noah had introduced him to a world that wasn't repulsive but rather embraced them as equals.
Despite Noah's earlier irritation—almost to the point of killing Eric—Eric did not seem interested in negotiation at the time.
Moreover, after learning magic, Charles reflected on that moment and realized Noah's control over his magic had been deliberately relaxed. When a magician loses control over their magic, the result is the dissipation of the magic's power. This suggested that Noah never intended to harm Eric, but merely wanted to teach him a lesson.
Charles understood that Eric could be tough and irritating, and a lesson might have been warranted. Since entering this magical world, Charles and his group had absorbed much new knowledge.
One of the things he learned was that Noah Finniel was a magician beyond the control of the magical world itself. Magic's strength was an important factor in this world, and Noah belonged to one of the most powerful magical organizations.
This organization was not just strong but governed by certain rules, abiding by the magical world's guidelines without interfering with others. It could be said that Kamar-Taj represented an exemplary magician organization. While other magical organizations studied on their own, Kamar-Taj ventured into more interesting activities.
"Yes, because you're a highly educated scientist in the ordinary world, and genetic biology is your field of expertise. That's why I hope you can help me," Noah explained.
Charles hadn't realized how much Noah had thought about before approaching him. After Professor Dumbledore left, Noah had the system extract high-dimensional dark forces for analysis, which would take a long time. So, Noah didn't waste time and went directly to Charles for assistance.
"Of course, I'll help," Charles agreed readily. "But I'm curious—what would you have done if I said no?"
Noah rolled his eyes. "What would I do if you didn't agree? Catch a little guy to threaten you? Please, you're already part of the magical world. I wouldn't attack you unless you really offended me."
Although Noah privately thought he probably couldn't beat Charles, he quickly shook his head and added, "If you don't help me, I'll find someone else. Do you know Pick Ham?"
"I don't, but I know him," Charles replied, embarrassed for a moment, though the look quickly faded. "How could I not know the chairman of Ham Company, a top scientist in biology? But he's not a geneticist."
"Yes, but he has a friend named Rickard."
"Professor Rickard? That's no problem," Charles nodded.
Charles had no doubts about Noah's ability to find these experts, considering his connections with people like the deputy director of S.H.I.E.L.D., who was rumored to be soon promoted. But Charles dismissed these thoughts and focused on the task at hand. Noah's goal seemed risky, but it also had the potential for great success.
"I can help you with the research," Charles continued, "but there's a catch. If you're not here, I can't perform many of the tests and experiments. You're studying magical creatures, and we need samples. Since the magic is for you, it's better if you're present."
"No worries, I've already planned for that." Noah grinned. "I'll be staying in London from now on."
"London?" Charles raised an eyebrow, then suddenly thought of something. "Wait... did you become the Guardian of the Temple?"
"Wait, you know about that?" Noah was surprised.
"Yes, Minister Dumbledore gave us lots of books, so it's not unusual for me to know. It's hard to believe you've come so far."
Noah nodded. "The temple doesn't hide it, and it's not that surprising."
He was, however, starting to feel a little odd. Every time someone heard about his progress, they'd comment, "You've come so far." Was it wrong for him to move forward?
Before Noah could comment, a sudden burst of footsteps interrupted, and his frown deepened. "What's going on? Is there a problem?"
"Don't worry, Scott's back with the kids. They probably want to meet their idol," Charles said with a smile.
"Oh? Are they Hogwarts students? They're my juniors, but... what do you mean by idol?" Noah asked, confused.
"Don't you know?" Charles raised an eyebrow. "You're written into the textbooks now. You're part of the required course History of Magic and Modern History at Hogwarts."
"...What?" Noah was stunned. He hadn't known about this at all. How could he be written into textbooks while still alive? He had once joked about getting his portrait printed on commemorative coins, but now, his place in textbooks had come first.
Just as Noah was about to respond, the door to Charles' office opened, and a group of young students entered. They stared at Noah in awe, their excitement clear. Noah sighed inwardly but politely chatted with them. The most common question? How could he, at their age, have accomplished so much?
Noah couldn't exactly say, Well, if you had a system like mine, maybe you could too. So, instead, he reassured them: "You need to focus on your studies, listen to your professors, and make more friends."
The students nodded eagerly and were soon ushered out by Scott, leaving Noah and Charles alone again.
Now, Charles led Noah to a laboratory, where various testing instruments were set up on Noah's body.
"Do you think this magic will succeed?" Charles asked as Noah lay on the experimental platform, preparing for the tests.
"I don't know," Noah admitted. "But I'm hopeful."
Charles paused, then nodded. "It's like science, isn't it? Constant progress and innovation."
"Exactly," Noah said with a smile. "If it works, think about how much it will improve the magical community."
Turning into a magical or mythical creature could enhance a magician's combat abilities, and Noah was confident that it would result in broader coverage, even if the power wasn't at its peak.
"And if it works," Noah added, "maybe you could apply for the Kamar-Taj Magic Award. Isn't that a big incentive to strive for more powerful magic?"
"The Kamar-Taj Magic Award?" Charles smiled. "That's definitely a strong motivation."
