Jason looked at the two people who suddenly appeared behind him and suddenly relaxed. If the most dangerous people in this world were to be categorized, these two behind him could definitely occupy two of those spots.
But then again, if they were friends, these two people behind him would definitely be among the safest people in the world. Because the two people who ran over were Noah and Constantine, the most famous mage and the most famous exorcist in the magical world! These two guys were dangerous and eerie, respectively, and Jason also knew that they had known each other for a very long time, arguably for twenty years.
However, Jason's expression was a bit strange because Noah had actually brought Constantine along. And seeing Constantine's indifferent demeanor, Jason guessed that he either didn't know or didn't care. Of course, Jason felt that the "didn't know" possibility was higher.
"Cheeseburger?" Jason took the bag and, without the usual caution and seriousness of an agent, took a bite directly. "It tastes very much like that roadside stall next to the Sanctum..."
"Wow, you've been gone for so many years, and you can still remember that taste?" Noah looked strangely at the cheeseburger in his hand; he had hardly eaten it a few times.
"The owner's name is Demise Thornton, a middle-aged man around fifty, no wife but one child, daily income..."
Jason continued to eat his burger while rattling off the information about the burger stand owner.
"Stop, stop, stop." Noah immediately interrupted him.
"You're just eating a burger, and you're already digging for information about someone else?"
"Just occupational habit." Jason finished the last bite of his burger. "Honestly, Noah, you've had me watching him for so many years. How much longer do I have to watch
him? He looks like a complete loser right now."
How much longer? Noah rubbed his chin. In fact, Noah felt there was no need to keep watching him anymore, because there was definitely no Golden Apple in this cursed place! However, Noah was more curious about the guy hiding in the desert, and he was also very interested in the assassin system, so he kept an eye on this guy and also wondered if Jason could infiltrate.
"What do you think of those people in the desert?" Noah
rubbed his chin and asked softly.
"The group in the Jerusalem desert?" Jason thought carefully. "I can't get in contact with them. I only know they're very mysterious. Fury doesn't seem to have any way to deal with them either."
Not only are they very mysterious, but they are simply a group of nomadic people who drift around. Finding nomads in the desert would probably be even more troublesome than finding them on the grasslands.
Moreover, their existence does have some meaning, which is why they haven't been captured. However, Noah and his group clearly wouldn't consider these problems. If they resisted, Noah wouldn't mind sending them to meet their ancestors.
Noah's goal was to see if this guy, like Desmond, was a descendant of ancient assassins.
"Forget about those barbarians in the desert. How's John
Wick doing now?" Noah shook his head and asked directly.
"John Wick? This guy is very calm and honest. If it weren't for the death of his beloved, his retirement life would have been quite good." Jason said, thinking, but he still unconsciously glanced at Constantine. "In short, he's retired and has no intention of getting back into anything for now."
"Is that so?" Noah nodded. It seemed his dog was fine, so Noah didn't need to worry too much. Honestly, it was already pretty good that Noah could still clearly remember the general plot after being transmigrated for so long. As for the timeline and such, he probably only remembered it vaguely. It was good enough to remember the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so Noah wasn't sure when Wick's dog was killed.
"In that case, we'll leave first..." Noah said, thinking, but before he finished speaking, he froze. Jason and Constantine, who noticed Noah's strange behavior, also followed his gaze and then they too froze. Because in the direction they were looking, several guys in black were quietly heading towards John Wick's house.
"Is this... what you meant by 'no problem'?" Noah's mouth twitched as he pointed to the large mansion not far away and asked.
"I didn't expect those Russian guys to be so arrogant either," Jason's face also looked bad. "They're dead."
"That's hard to say," Constantine pulled out another cigarette and lit it, who knows when. "Didn't you just say he retired? If he retired and follows the rules, then naturally he wouldn't dare to resist, or perhaps he relaxed his guard after being retired for too long, so being ambushed is a very normal thing, isn't it?"
Noah glanced at Constantine. Was this guy so familiar with it because they looked exactly alike? After much thought, Noah didn't say anything about it. Noah was planning to give this guy a big surprise. But speaking of it, Noah realized that his timing was unnervingly precise, even though Noah himself had considered whether he was the plot starter.
But this idea yielded no results. Noah could only complain and lament each time, and then that was it.
"Let's go take a look," Noah rubbed his chin, pretending to think. "I always feel like some trouble might happen."
"Whatever," Constantine shrugged. "Anyway, I'm not in a rush to find Angela, so I'll just follow you and watch."
With the two big shots having made their decision, Jason naturally said no more. So, after he thoroughly described the layout of John Wick's house, Noah directly opened a portal and also opened a mirror dimension. Space was eerie, but in Noah's hands, it was even simpler than a toy.
However, when they entered John Wick's mansion, Constantine, who had a cigarette dangling from his mouth, almost couldn't help but curse, because the guy beaten up like a dead dog in front of him looked exactly like him! Constantine glared fiercely at Noah. Even if he was stupid, he knew this was definitely intentional on Noah's part. Otherwise, given Noah's "don't come to me if you have problems, don't run if I have problems" style, he would never have thought about accompanying Constantine back to see his fiance.
Actually, Constantine really misunderstood Noah. At least this time, Noah genuinely intended to go back to America with Constantine to check things out. But who knew what was going on with his physique? He just happened to encounter this scene, and Noah himself was quite bewildered.
"Uh, can I say I really don't know?" Noah rubbed his head.
"You can ask Jason, I really haven't met this guy before."
"Hmph, you haven't met this guy, yet you'd have Jason track him?" Constantine wasn't stupid. Besides, he didn't really care whether Noah had met this guy or not, because a mage didn't necessarily need to meet someone in person to know about them.
Too lazy to bother with Noah, Constantine looked at the guy in the room who had been beaten senseless by a few thugs, and his anger intensified. The guy in front of him looked even more decadent and older than himself. His full beard and long, flowing hair formed a stark contrast with Constantine's clean face and neat short hair.
Constantine suddenly felt like he was looking at his own disappointing younger brother, and that feeling made him very uncomfortable. Just as the group was about to deal with Wick's dog because its barking was too annoying, Constantine, who had been holding back, hadn't even spoken when Noah beside him said, "Now, it's your turn to perform."
"???" Constantine was completely confused. He still had a cigarette dangling from his mouth, unextinguished. The next moment, he had already left the mirror dimension and appeared in John Wick's house.
"Damn it! Where did you come from, you bastard?"
Constantine's sudden appearance startled the few thugs, so much so that even when Wick's dog ran away, they didn't have time to chase it.
"Damn Noah..." Constantine's mouth twitched, but he remained unusually calm, not flustered by Noah's sudden stunt. Honestly, Constantine didn't even care about a few thugs, nor did he truly care about the guy lying on the floor. God knows where Noah found a guy who looked exactly like him. Constantine was just a little curious, thinking that he was too embarrassing.
"Damn it, are you with this guy?" Just as Constantine was somewhat stunned, the English with a Russian accent sounded in his ear again.
"With him?" Constantine tilted his head slightly. "Forget it, I'm not interested in explaining these things to a bunch of dead men."
"Arrogant bastard!" With a roar, the thugs directly swung their steel pipes at Constantine. Constantine didn't even bother to look up, but just as the steel pipe was about to touch Constantine, he suddenly lifted his head.
The steel pipe stopped less than ten centimeters from Constantine's head, but it couldn't advance another step!
Constantine very calmly reached out and twisted the guy's neck, and then with a gentle twist, the guy could no longer move. Then Constantine turned to look at the other two guys. Without any hesitation or delay, Constantine easily dealt with both of them! His relaxed posture and calm expression remained unchanged, even the cigarette dangling from his mouth didn't move.
Calmly looking at the corpses on the ground, Constantine shook his hands, then walked over to John Wick and kicked him with his foot.
"I say, you're not dead, are you?"
"Pro-probably."
"If you're not dead, then get up. You look disgusting like that."
"Perhaps..."
