Chapter 513 - Chapter 513: Too Naive

Tony did not want to get beaten, so he wisely shut up.

Still, his eyes kept darting between the girl named Wanda and the boy named Pietro, before finally landing on Erik, who looked slightly unsettled.

To be honest, Tony was extremely curious.

About Erik.

About what this old man-well, middle-aged man now-was going to do.

"Father?" Wanda looked at Noah and the others in disbelief, then turned to Pietro. "What are they talking about? This is nonsense, right?"

"Whether it's nonsense or not," Pietro replied quietly, "we'll know soon enough."

Noah did not bother with subtlety.

"Born in Sokovia. Family destroyed by war when you were young. You blamed Stark as your enemy because his company manufactured that missile." He spread his hands. "You really are idiots."

"What do you know?" Wanda snapped. "Do you know what we've been through all these years?"

"Hm." Noah tilted his head. "Hovering on the edge of being consumed by hatred. Or willingly stepping into darkness, but never fully crossing over."

He shrugged.

"At least you still have a conscience. Otherwise, your father would be asking me why I killed you."

Killed.

That was obviously impossible.

Noah was just saying it.

But one thing was certain.

They still had a conscience.

In the original timeline, they had initially helped Ultron. But when they realized what Ultron actually wanted-to wipe out humanity-they turned back without hesitation.

That was conscience awakening.

Everyone had a conscience to some extent, but awakening was what mattered.

Honestly, if this were the original story, Noah would have killed them without hesitation.

Even if they later stood on humanity's side.

Wanda had once controlled Bruce Banner, forcing him to transform into the Hulk in the middle of a city.

The movie made it look harmless.

Reality would not be.

The Battle of New York alone proved how misleading films could be.

Noah had never personally witnessed the Hulk at full rampage, but he could estimate it.

On Sakaar, Hulk had completely crushed Thor.

Even back then, Thor was no weakling.

Translated into mage terms, that was at least seventh-tier combat power.

Let something like that rampage freely in a city center.

Given enough time, wiping out a city-maybe even a country-was not impossible.

"What nonsense are you spouting now?" Wanda frowned. A faint red glow gathered in her palms.

"Whether it's nonsense," Noah said calmly, "you know better than anyone."

He glanced at them.

"Joining HYDRA's experiments. Isn't that degeneration?"

Then he added casually, "Oh, and by the way, you have mutant genes. Otherwise, did you really think those experiments would succeed?"

"Mutants?" Wanda and Pietro's expressions changed. "That's impossible. Our parents weren't mutants."

"Oh?" Noah sighed. "I already told you. Erik is your biological father. The two who died were not your biological parents. They adopted you."

He paused.

"Think about it another way. Out of so many test subjects, why were only the two of you successful?"

He did not wait for an answer.

"Because you already had powers. The Mind Stone only activated them."

Noah stopped talking.

There was no point continuing.

He turned, patted Erik on the shoulder, then grabbed Tony by the collar-who was still planning to watch the drama-and dragged him out like an unruly pet.

Tony protested, but had no room to resist.

Once outside, he finally broke free.

He straightened his shirt and glanced back at the castle.

"So," Tony said, eyes full of gossip, "they're really his kids?"

"Obviously." Noah spread his hands. "We tested it with magic. No room for doubt."

"Damn. There's magic for that too?"

"What kind of magic doesn't exist?" Noah rolled his eyes. "Though that kind isn't exactly easy to come by."

He sat down on a random step.

Tony followed suit.

In this weather, sitting on cold stone would normally get someone sick.

These two were not normal people.

"Alright," Tony rested his chin on his hands. "Tell me. What actually happened?"

"What else?" Noah sighed, propping his head the same way. "A boring, cliché melodrama."

Then he started.

"Back then, Erik wasn't a good person."

"Obviously," Tony interrupted. "I've seen his file. Attacking the president? That old man was wild."

"He was impressive," Noah said flatly. "And mutants had no choice. Honestly, I admire his courage."

He glanced at Tony.

"You probably don't even have that much."

"Hey-fine. Skip ahead."

"Next?" Noah continued. "He lived here in seclusion with his wife. Then he was discovered to be a mutant. His eldest daughter died because of it. Enraged, Erik killed everyone involved. His wife left him."

"That brutal?" Tony blinked. "Didn't he know she was pregnant?"

"Maybe a few months. Maybe just conceived. Who knows."

...

"So," Wanda said slowly, "you're our father?"

She and Pietro stared at Erik.

They had never imagined something like this.

A mutant father.

Officially dead.

A convoluted, absurd past.

Now standing before them.

Anyone would struggle to accept it.

They were not ordinary people, but their tolerance was not infinite.

"Yes." Erik sighed. "Please forgive me. I didn't know your mother, Magda, was pregnant when she left."

He lowered his gaze.

"I only learned of your existence a few years ago."

"A few years ago?" Pietro cut in sharply. "Then why are you only here now?"

"Because Noah couldn't locate you precisely back then," Erik replied. "He could only estimate a general area with basic magic. Recently, that changed."

"Magic?" Wanda frowned. "You mean that... young man just now?"

"Young man?" Erik paused. "He is young. But he's not just some young man."

"He's a mage?" Pietro's eyes lit up. "Like the ones who fought aliens in New York?"

Wanda stayed silent.

Noah.

The name meant nothing to her.

But that brief encounter had left a deep impression.

Human minds were chaotic, full of desire.

That young man felt like an ocean.

Calm.

Vast.

Unfathomable.

A mage.

It was the first time she had met someone whose mind felt so tranquil-and so unreachable.

Of course, if Erik knew what she was thinking, he would immediately expose the truth.

Mental defenses existed for a reason.

Erik himself had maxed his out.

But with his children, he did not bother.

He would rather they knew what he was thinking.

"Yes," Erik said slowly. "All of them are mages. Including me."

"You too?" Pietro tilted his head. "Alright. Then what do you want from us?"

"I'm your father." Erik frowned. "What do you think I want?"

"Father?" Pietro laughed coldly. "Too bad. Our father died years ago. When Stark's missile hit."

Erik looked at Pietro's sneering face.

After thinking for a long time, he realized he had no good solution.

He was not good at being a father.

And his son's attitude was terrible.

So he chose the simplest approach.

"I don't care whether you acknowledge me or not," Erik said flatly. "But you are my son and daughter."

He lifted his head.

"You will come with me. Agree or not."

"The outcome," he added, "depends on your attitude."

"You think you can handle both of us?" Wanda had regained her composure. Her voice was cold.

"Both?" Erik scoffed.

"Ten. A hundred. A thousand-times two."

He looked at them.

"I don't see a problem."

"You're too naive."

"So naive you don't even understand what you're facing."
