Chapter 160 - How Do I Send The Rocket Up?

Slam!

"Urgh...How on Earadun do I know which fuel to use to send them up!?"

Slamming for what appeared to be the umpteenth time, Goblina slammed her head onto the table, scattering the myriad test tubes and 'lab' equipment everywhere. Grabbing a cup of extra-strong Kafee, she downed it all in one large gulp, before continuing her experimentation.

'Introduction to basic chemistry'...

'Alkanes and their many uses'...

'Experimental records: successes and failures'...

Looking at these books once more, she let out a tired sigh. It has been so long, yet she has only managed to separate only 6 different forms of products from the Manatised Crudil. The lack of proper equipment and techniques slowed her progress greatly, causing her to not be able to find the perfect energy source to send the rocket to the Moon. Urgh, I wish we could use magic, but Duncan says that he tried it once, and failed spectacularly at that! It seems that after reaching around 5000 m, the device failed before crashing down on Earadun. What am I supposed to do here!?

Just as she was about to slump back in despair, a small beep came from behind her. There, beside all the clutter and junk, lay a large device, filled with all manner of clicks and lights. Although confused, she leapt out of her chair once she realised what it meant:

The results were out

Scampering from the (overly large) chair, she scampered to the device, where she inserted a piece of Grade A paper. As the machine ate it, she prayed with all her heart that it worked and didn't destroy the very expensive sheet.

And her prayers were answered

Zip, bip, whirr...

From the other end, bit by bit, the paper came out, this time with letters and numbers printed on it. Grabbing ahold of the sheet, she gazed at it, before beaming the widest smile she had ever grinned in her life. Dashing quickly to the table, she grabbed another piece of paper, and quickly jotted down the results. "Hey, Mierandel, come quickly, and please give these results to Mr. Lewis near the end of the corridor! These need to be sent to him as soon as possible!"

As the Sheeple ran carrying the data(as if her life depended on it), Goblina could not help but marvel at the apparatus that printed out the results:

Item: Spectrometer

Tier: 2.5

Grade: Average (Borderline Poor)

Description: Uses light and reflection to calculate and identify the composition of fluids, and find out what molecules are present in the sample. However, due to creator's lack of ability, it can only identify an approximate amount, and only provide a general idea of what base elements there are present in the compound. Any further deductions must be made by hand, or until device is upgraded.

Item: Primitive Printer

Tier: 2

Grade: Excellent

Description: A primitive printing device. If connected to other devices, it can collect the data present and print them onto a blank sheet of paper. However, due to limitations imposed on creator, the printed document can only print in black and white, showing limited information.

Amazed at the devices Lewis helped create, Goblina could not help but be awed at the Human's ingenuity (though of course, Simon helped build them).

This made her all the more anxious

They have been consistently showing results in their reports, unlike her, who is still trying her best to find a fuel composition light yet strong enough to propel the ship into space (the books rented from The Library of Alexandria helped her understand the basic, I mean the very basic, background of the effects of gravity and density). But the issue here was that:

1) She was running out of Manatised Crudil

2) More importantly, she was running out of funds

Despite the very successful venture of Jaffa Cakes, they were only able to barely stymie their funds from going into red (whatever that meant). With the few allocated funds she had, she had barely managed to gain some results (most of which ended up being trying to figure out the composition of air).

Haah, I need more money!
