Chapter 215 - Be My Champion Again

Chapter 215: Be My Champion Again

Purgatory, The Land Where Life and Death Intersect

POV of Domeric Bolton

Was Sirius really okay? Hadn't Lady Death just told him that souls that entered the Soul Destroyer would be destroyed and lost forever?

"When Sirius Black fell into the Soul Destroyer, I pulled him out just like I saved you. Actually, Sirius helps me solve problems in the other world as one of my champions. As for why I saved Sirius, maybe I'll tell you why one day, but that day isn't today." Lady Death said.

"Thank you. Really," Domeric said. Right now, he didn't really care why Lady Death had saved Sirius or where he was. Sirius was alive and well. Knowing that was enough for Domeric.

"You're welcome," Lady Death said, smiling.

And then she continued. "After you entered the Soul Destroyer, I took you out as quickly as I could, but as soon as a soul enters the Soul Destroyer, soul erosion begins. That's why, when I took you out, a small piece of your soul was lost, and the erosion was continuing, albeit slowly. I wanted to put my plan into action, but incomplete souls couldn't enter a mother's womb to reincarnate. Therefore, the entire plan I prepared was in vain."

"Uh... sorry," Domeric said quietly.

"There is no point in dwelling on the past anymore," she said and continued to tell the story from where she left off.

"Since the erosion on your soul continued, I needed to send you to a new world as soon as possible, and I hastily chose one of the plausible worlds: this world. Using my power on a world like this would upset its balance a bit, but I knew Terra still hadn't fully severed her connection to this world, and frankly, I was counting on her to restore the balance. Thanks, Terra, by the way."

"Finally. I got a thank you for all the effort I put in. You're welcome. But I'd appreciate it if you could warn me ahead of time next time." Lady Terra said.

"I'm sorry, but as I said, it was a situation I had to act quickly." Lady Death explained.

"So that's why I came to this world. Isn't it really to destroy the White Walkers and become the savior of this world? After all, you did grant me your blessing, didn't you? Why did you grant me the Deadly Hallow tattoo if I wasn't going to be a champion in this world?"

Domeric asked questions in his head at once. Frankly, he no longer considered it possible that Lady Death would lie to him. He couldn't think of any reason why a being far more powerful than himself would lie to him.

"That's a bit complicated. My story just now didn't end with me sending you into this world. If you listen to what happened next, you'll understand why you have my blessing, Harry," Lady Death said with a smile.

"Then please continue," Domeric said with a thoughtful expression. He thought Lady Death had finished her explanation, but it seemed there was still more that needed to be said.

"When I established your connection to this world, your soul came to this world and waited for a suitable host body to appear. But when I established your connection to this world, I also renewed my own, and that's when I became aware of the undead beings that inhabited it. And because I used my power in the world, these undead beings absorbed the death element that was mixed with the world and became stronger." Lady Death said.

But before Domeric could say anything, Lady Terra intervened. "Oh, no. Death, what have you done?"

"Hey, when I last left this world, there was no undead lifeform. How would I know?" Lady Death said.

Then turned to Domeric and continued. "That's the main reason the Cold Undead, or White Walkers as the people of this world call them, have gained dominance over your magic. With the energy my domain has spread throughout the world, they've become much stronger than normal."

"Did the White Walkers become more powerful because of your domain, or rather because I arrived in this world? Doesn't that mean I'm responsible too?" Domeric asked.

"Yes. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. When my connection to this world was reestablished, I knew the White Walkers would pose a danger to you, especially after they were empowered with my element. The world I sent you to, thinking it was safe, was no longer safe, and so I gave you my blessing so you could ensure your own safety."

"I see. Thank you. Again." Domeric said.

"You're welcome. Again. But this isn't the end of my story. But before that. Terra! What were your children thinking when they created these undead, White Walkers?" Lady Death said Domeric and then asked Lady Terra.

"What? Did the Children of the Forest create the White Walkers? Why?" Before Lady could respond, Domeric spoke up and joined Lady Death in the question.

"Uh... Hey, don't blame my children, okay? First of all, that was a long time ago, and back then, the people, called the First Men, were attacking my children relentlessly. They created the White Walkers to protect themselves. But after some time, they lost control of them."

Lady Terra said defensively, then turned to Lady Death and continued in a worried voice, "Death, the situation is bad. If your power really strengthened the White Walkers, I don't think the Young Gods will be able to deal with this problem and protect the fate of the world."

"I know, Terra. And I'm not relying on them. Because there's a much better candidate to solve this problem sitting right in front of me." Lady Death said while looking at Domeric.

"Me?" Domeric said, pointing to himself.

"Yes, you are, Domeric. I gave you my blessing, but it was only for your own protection. Now I ask you to be my champion in this world. Just like in the old world." Lady Death said in a serious voice.

"I..." Domeric began to speak, but Lady Death raised her hand and interrupted him. "Before you answer, would you allow me to finish my story that was left unfinished? I think some things will become clearer to you then."

Domeric nodded. He needed some time to consider Lady Death's offer. Frankly, the last thing he wanted was to become a champion again, but if he were going to fight against White Walkers anyway, it would be unreasonable to reject Lady Death's offer.

After all, being Lady Death's champion in this world would likely strengthen him.

Could he ever forgive himself if he refused this offer and lost someone he loved because of his weakness?

Domeric shook his head, clearing his mind of unnecessary thoughts and focusing on Lady Death's story. He would make his decision after hearing everything.
