Chapter 1 - chapter 1

My first breath after waking up felt normal, if a bit deeper than normal. The second, however, brought a flood of energy/power to every part of my body and made my lungs tingle.

Snapping my eyes open, I'm met with the fact that, for some reason, I'm standing and holding a katana even though I just woke up. What was weirder is that I, for some reason, am absolutely certain that the blade is a fiery crimson without even seeing it.

Thinking about it for a second I am suddenly blasted with an ungodly amount of pain in what felt like the back of my head before a flood of memories not my own came to me. The blurry face of a woman who was pregnant, a man with deep burgundy hair holding a child while his wife slept in the other room, of facing a 6-eyed man wielding a blade with countless eyes on it and more.

Eventually, the pain and memories subsided, and so I sat down to collect myself, not minding if my haori and uniform got dirty, placing my katana on my lap, I slowly settled down, my breathing even to stabilise into total concentration breathing.

After looking through my memories of both people, I realise why I was the dominant personality, because Yoriichi Tsugikuni didn't want to live another life without his wife, and so gave up before any fight for dominance could even begin, leaving everything of his to me.

"You have my thanks Yoriichi Tsugikuni for not only your work in your last world but for giving me this opportunity, I promise to try my hardest to live up to your expectations"

And to honour not only him but also those of his world, I decided to create an altered version of all the breathing styles I know into rituals similar to the 'dance of the fire god' to immortalise those who came before.

As I was going through the styles I know I soon found I know more than I should for example I now knew the self made styles like mist, beast, flower, love, insect and the most surprising moon breathing, the discovery of my extra knowledge didn't ruin my plans instead it only accelerated them as I needn't recreate styles I hadn't known.

For hours, I worked meticulously to change the very basics of the breathing styles, but to keep the original concepts and katas as similar as possible whilst keeping my katana sheathed so as not cause unnecessary damage to the area I found myself in. I hadn't noticed while working, but even my constant movement, even if slowed down to the limit, still seemed to draw in nearby animals.

I payed no attention to them while still doing my best to not disturb the animals around me, when I was finished the first steps of ritualising the many Kata, I moved around the clearing I was in gently nudging the sleeping animals awake and politely asking them to move, I didn't know if Yoriichi's selfless state was effecting how animals react to me but none of the wildlife panicked when I got near them or when waking them up.

When enough of the area was clear for me to move and practice at proper levels, I slowly drew my sword, the blacked blade catching the afternoon light just right to drink in nearly all of it.

Holding the blade in front of myself, I took a deep breath and moved.

Pov 3rd person

As the man in the haori moved to the centre of the clearing and drew his blade, the few remaining animals watched intently, among them a silver white deer, a beautiful swan, a large bloodstained vulture, a golden eagle, a mighty stallion and a well loved donkey, which seemed particularly interested in what the man would do.

When he was in the centre of the clearing with his sword held in front of him, he took a deep breath and moved. At first moving at normal mortal speed going through what looked to be a complex dance, but when the dance looked to have ended and would instead be repeated the man started speeding up. before long he was moving faster than any mortal should be able to without being a legacy, it was when the man exceeded human speed that the blade he was using burst into flames. But even then the swordsman didn't stop, instead he sped up and with the increase in speed did one of the onlookers feel an unnaturally large burst of worship.

"Dance of the fire god", although whispered, this carried through the clearing, and as he continued, the 'donkey' received more worship from this one man than entire kingdoms had provided in the past.

For a full 24 hours, the man continued this single dance, not stopping once for any reason, all the while speeding up, getting faster and faster, the man having surpassed even legacy's and firmly reached the heights only possible by a demigod. When the 24 hours had passed, the man slowed to a stop before taking a breath and settling into a different stance. This one looked deadlier yet paradoxically the man seemed beyond happy whilst settling into his stance.

When the man started moving again the dance was completely different from the last yet seemed to be a reflection of it all the same. Where the first dance was gentle and kind, almost loving yet still capital of killing without effort. the second dance was indifferent and deadly but not unpleasant, once again the man started at the heights a human could reach and slowly sped up. And just like with the first dance when the man exceeded human limits the dance surpassed the mortal limits placed on it. However unlike the last dance this one generated crescent slashes made of moons and carried hints of a monsters scent.

"Waltz of the luna palace" and as with the last dance, the worship created went to one of the animals, this time the silver white deer, and it continued for the entire 24 hours the man danced.

It was after stopping the second dance that the man paused completely, only now having noticed he wasn't hungry, thirsty, or even tired. Shrugging he decided to utilise such a boon to continue performing each dance to the best of his abilities.
