In an empty void of nothingness, Alex moves forward, following the direction of noise, which sounds like clashing of irons, so he asked.
" Mr Matthew,is that you?, making swords this early?, guess you can't give it up can you.."
As he moves closer, a power unseen force pushes him back. The sound stops as Alex sees a glowing reddish flames around a dark skinned figure approaches him, moving forward the figure appeared taller like a giant, five times his size with glowing red eyes, and in an African's local dialect as he speaks, his voice echoed around the empty void, as thunder claps while he speaks frightening Alex as he stares at the figure, in fear knowing there was nothing he could do.
With a thunderous voice he said.
"Fear not son, I have been waiting for this moment a long time, right now your subconscious, is speaking directly to me, I could not come to you directly so I summoned you here.
Shaking in his voice Alex asked.
"W-who might you be s-sir?".
He then replied.
"I am Ogun, the god of war and iron, once a king of IFE, known as Alakaaiye, I once walked the earth, I was then deified by my people and became the orisha of war and iron, although there are different tales to my name, still I am an embodiment of power.
He then moved closer to Alex and said to him.
"Omo ogun, my child, an important journey awaits you, there is no longer time to waste, the enemies are already making their moves. Those markings of yours were supposed to be your way of connecting to me, but thanks to my disciple that guided you, you have another way of connecting to me."
Alex thought to himself 'does he means the old man.'
Ogun then continues.
"I was to train you in battle myself, through your subconscious, I hope making you my vessel isn't a wrong choice".
Alex then asked.
"You told me about an upcoming war, so what does that have to do with me if I may ask, I was once passionate about being a warrior, a soldier, but I don't want to worry my mum, I want to protect her, and being close to her is the only way I can do that"
He then said to Alex
"You have a gift for a greater purpose, I chose you for a reason, and such reason must be fulfilled, that is your destiny, your fate if I must say, you have to prepare, for what is about to come, because when it does, your mother of which you speak off will also be caught by the wave of calamity. I will train you here, in this void, we shall battle like soldiers, I shall relieve your full potential and you reach the source of my power in you".
Alex then laughed jokingly as he said.
"You're a god, a giant, what can I possibly do against you, yes I have gift that most men don't, but even I know my limits, I can't go against a god!.
Then shortly after Ogun's eyes began to glow bright red, as he shrinks himself to human appearance.
"This is my original appearance when I walked the earth as a mortal, I will battle and train you in this form, I have sealed my power for as long as I will be preparing you to be a bit fair, but you can still channel those power".
Alex then shocked at the new appearance of Ogun, now seeing him clearly, young holding a machete and am axe in both hands he then said.
"Fascinating.... I am only doing this because I want to protect my mum, and lastly, what will happen to me in the real world if anything happens here?". Frightened as he asks.
Ogun replied.
Your body will be just fine, as long as you don't die here, that I'm not sure of.
Panicking Alex asked.
"You're not sure, what do you mean you're not sure?, you're a god are you supposed to be all knowing... I think.
Ogun replied.
"It's quite understandable why people think gods are all knowing, but it is not how is it, every God has their own speciality, some have multiple true, but there are unique deities like me who have specific roles, my people have different gods, but I bless them in the face of warfare and technology, I'm not the kind of god that blesses the fruit of the womb or pour the rain so it is safe to say I don't have the ability of unlimited or devine knowledge.
Alex then replied.
"Waw so that's how it works, fair enough, I think I understand. Ok I think I have been here for quite sometime I think I have to go now".
Ogun replied.
"Yes, your people would be waiting, time does work differently, here in the void, sometimes it's faster, and sometimes it's much slower. But before you go can you exhibit a bit of your strength?".
Alex replied.
"Sure why not"
As he clenches his fist rushing towards Ogun planning to grab him unawares, unfortunately, aware of the trick he was trying to pull, the god showed their difference in strength countering him by moving to the other side, sweeping Alex's legs and hitting him at the back of his neck with the handle of the axe, and the showdown was over in an instant.
Ogun then said.
"your first lesson, is to analyse the strength of the enemy, and draw him in".
As he picks Alex up on his feet, you might have a long way to go, but it's possible.
Alex replied.
"What do you mean?, I just lost in an instant".
Ogun replied.
"Many warriors would have already passed out by that hit, but you stood up strong and that is enough, you may go home now". As he shoots flame from his hand and a space within the void was burnt open as he says" you can go through there, it is your way back".
Alex was then walking approaching the exit, then stop for a while and turned slightly with his head downward and said.
" For the one's I care about, I will become stronger, I will come back over and over if that's what it takes".
Ogun replied.
"I will be waiting. One more thing, my disciple, thank him for me".
And Alex stepped into the burnt out space, opening his eyes in the real world, seeing his mother and and old man Matthew at his side.
The old man asked.
"Alex, are you ok?, you have been out for over an hour now, you saw something didn't you?".
His mother worried, asked
"Alex, what happened to you?, your temperature went high for a moment, is there something I should be worried about?".
Alex holding the back of his neck thought to himself.'so I can feel the effect of what happened there in the real world, even though it isn't as painful as it is in there's, he then looked at his mum as said.
"There's nothing to be worried about mum, I just have few questions about your past that I would like to know. I have been called for a great purpose is what I have been hearing, so I think it's only fair to know a bit about the past, to know what I am up against".
Melina exhales as she replies.
"Yes son it's only fair I finally be honest with you".
The old man tried walking out, aiming to give them some space, but was stopped by Alex.
"You're family now, please stay....
The king standing on his feet with a surprised but satisfying expression, looking at the battles between the soldiers and the princes.
Moving with supernatural speed and display of strength the princes individually taking out the soldiers with no struggles.
"Amazing, and with just wooden swords, see how much damage they are bringing".
The princes still dominating decided to attack each other at the same time fighting the soldiers, just to get excited about the battle, all smiling as they spread Shock waves around the field scaring the other soldiers as they step back all frightened. As the battle continues between the three princes, it became more intense, as no one was able to see their movement or catch up with their speed, everyone became silent as they watch the battle unfold before their eyes.
The general thought to himself.'They seem evenly matched, but even I can't keep up with their speed. He then looked at the king and thought' I wonder what this man must have done, and for what reason.
The king lost in thought as he watches the battle.'Amazing indeed, such power, my creation, hope this won't be a double edged sword.
Soon after the battle stopped, as the dust clears up, everyone watching, seeing the bad shape of the wooden swords, amor and shield the princes posses, but no fatal wounds.
As the princes smirking at each other, satisfied about their short battle.
The king then said.
"Wonderful!.. wonderful!, with this power, we will be victorious, tonight we celebrate, and toast for the rise of this kingdom ahead".
As all the soldiers raising their weapons, all yelling in celebration.
