Pei Li flipped through the diary Penny left her with a heavy heart. She could tell how hard it was for Penny to cope with everything alone. She couldn't tell most of her findings to Wayne.
From the description Penny wrote, Pei Li had the same suspicions. TP's physique, as written by Penny, fits Wayne's older brother, though the initials belonged to the two younger brothers.
Pei Li was equally confused. All she knew was that she had to be very careful, especially the next time TP decided to approach her again or Penny.
Before she could let her thoughts wander deeper, Wayne woke to look for her or rather, for Penny.
Alarmed, Pei Li quickly hid the secret notes back into the hidden pouch of the notebook. She stood and accidentally called out his nickname in panic.
"Little Wind…" Wayne, who at first thought it was Penny, was trying hard to digest his skepticism.
He half hoped it was Pei Li, but didn't want to disappoint himself.
He half hoped he heard her wrongly and that Penny was teasing him, given the dangerous situation they were in.
"Little Cloud…?" He asked with a shaky voice as she nodded with a smile before running into his hug.
"I'm so sorry…" Wayne apologised as he felt bad for putting her through so much, but she shook her head.
"No… It's not your fault. Have you been well?" She pulled away to have a good look at him and smiled.
"Looks like Penny took care of you very well." She complimented.
"Are you back for… like before or… " Wayne searched her eyes for clarity. Pei Li recognised that desperation in his eyes. She knew he wished Penny would return, but her promise to Penny was be fulfilled.
"We should let her rest for a bit… Besides, it would be fun to finally experience being your assistant!" She cheered to distract his thoughts.
He hugged her gratefully. "You have caught up with her updates, have you?" She nodded as he met her gaze.
"Be careful of that person. Let me know the next time he approaches you instantly. In the meantime, be very alert and careful of who you come in contact with at the set. Except for Sebastian and the Chu siblings, don't be too friendly with anyone." Wayne sternly told Pei Li, who was a little taken aback.
"Chu siblings? Sebastian?" She tried to clarify. Wayne smiled, knowing it would be a long while to explain to her, but it would be worth it. He knew at least Violet would keep her company, provided she had returned from her family emergency, as last informed by Sebastian.
Violet drove herself to the site and went to find Sam instead of Sebastian. She longed to see Sebastian very much after succumbing to her heartbreak last night, but she knew it was better not to distract him at work.
Besides, getting updates from Sam first on their situation was more important. Her thoughts were back to her worries about his agency and sly assistant.
Were those accidents done by her? But the physique of the person in black seems to be taller than hers. Hmm… I'm quite certain it's a guy. She thought to herself on the way to Sam's room.
Without thinking much, she rang the doorbell. Sebastian answered the door as Sam had gone out to get them breakfast.
The only thing she didn't expect was for Sebastian to stay overnight in Sam's room. The person she wanted to avoid was standing in front of her. She knew she should walk away or even run, but her legs weren't listening to her.
Sebastian's eyes were sparkling at the pleasant surprise. He was so glad to see her again. When he came to his senses, the first thing he did was to pull her into the room and kiss her by the corner.
Violet's mind was scolding herself to run and deny, but her body just won't listen. Instead, she was spiralling deep into all that she had missed of him, and the only thing that was keeping them apart from going further was that she was still recovering from her miscarriage.
"I have missed you." He said as he rested his forehead on hers.
"Me too…" She whispered.
Though they wanted to break away, knowing their own predicaments of escalating their relationship, they couldn't help but continue entangled in another kiss.
It didn't last long this time cause they were forced to pull away when they heard the door card sound. They knew it was Sam. The couple tried to act indifferent when Sam stepped in.
"Hi…" Violet greeted Sam with a little wave.
Sam nodded slowly before passing Sebastian his breakfast, as he was suspicious that something happened before he stepped in. It was hard to tell if they did make out cause his sister rarely wears makeup or even lip gloss, but Sebastian's lips were swollen. Again, he doubted it cause Sebastian had just woken up, and it's normal for his face to swell from water retention.
"Thanks…" Sebastian said before heading to the dining area, while Violet followed Sam into another enclosure.
He examined her puffy eyes and knew she was indeed emotional last night. "Didn't sleep well?" He teased as she hummed.
"What's his schedule like? The next filming site would be here for a week, isn't it, before a brief studio commercial shooting and then the next filming site again?" She clarified before yawning.
"Did you memorise his schedule?" Sam asked in surprise.
"More or less. Oh, his previous cooking variety show should be on air soon. You should roll out the preparation for his camping show in two months." Violet reminded him as Sam nodded, still concerned about her well-being, carefully observing her facial reactions.
"His assistant… How has she been doing?" Violet asked, trying to stop Sam from caring about her.
Sam didn't intend to answer that question. He was more concerned about his sister.
"What's wrong? Something happened again?" Violet questioned worriedly as Sam held her by her shoulders.
"No… Filming is off the schedule while you're away, so she was back in the office. He didn't need her during his commercial shooting." Sam explained slowly as she nodded.
"I'm more concerned about you…" Sam met her gaze with concern as she shrugged.
"I'm alright. We signed the papers legally. It's probably taking a month or two to finalise. Dad has come to terms with it, and I believe they both are bonding well, especially when he has business plans he wants to carry out with Dad." Violet explained nonchalantly, which surprised her.
She was thankful for her breakdown episode the night before. Sam nodded slowly, trying to accept that she was truly fine, though he was surprised she was this calm. His analysis of Violet was cut short when he noticed Sebastian was trying to interrupt.
"I was thinking if I could borrow her just a while to head to somewhere closeby?" Sebastian asked Sam instead of Violet.
Sam knew exactly the meaning of his request. "Don't go too far." He said to Sebastian, who nodded knowingly. Both of them had made an arrangement the night before for this, and it was time to put it into action and hope Violet would stay strong.
As Violet walked out with Sebastian, who was in disguise, his heart felt heavy. He was guilty of what was to come, but he knew it was for the better.
Sebastian strolled a little slower with Violet when they reached the short trail cause he wanted to spend more time with her.
"Where are we heading?" Violet asked absentmindedly.
"Somewhere…" He shrugged with a smile, but it didn't shake her doubts away.
"Is there… Something you wanna tell me in private?" Violet asked, and this time it took Sebastian by surprise at how well she could read situations.
"No… Nothing in particular. Can't I just enjoy a walk with my companion?" Sebastian quickly made up a lie as they chuckled together.
"Is everything sorted out back home?" He asked, trying to change the topic.
She nodded slowly. "Not too bad. I never thought I would be so free-spirited, signing those papers with him. Even my dad was amicable to it… I guess if they didn't see what happened that night, it wouldn't turn out this way."
That's right… I don't want to do this. I don't want to spoil her mood. Sebastian thought to himself as they reached the peak of the mesmerising trail.
"Oh mine! How did you know this place existed? It's so pretty!" Violet squealed as she twirled around the fields of lavender. Sebastian's heart swelled with love watching her as he intuitively walked closely behind her before pulling her in for a kiss.
"Aren't you afraid people would see us?" Violet gasped as he smiled.
"The crew members aren't here yet. Not until noon. And I scouted here yesterday. Thought it would be nice to bring you here…" He teased her as they strolled a little more.
He really didn't want the moment to end, but he knew it was for the betterment of them both as he drew a deep breath before halting their steps.
Violet was still oblivious to his bothered self till she saw the gradual change in his expression, hesitating but yet wanting to be happy with her.
What's wrong? She wanted to ask him out loud, but she knew she was probably not ready for the answer.
Even then, she knew he was forcing it on her.
"Vi…"
"Don't…" She shook her head with a betrayed look which nearly made him give up his move.
"I haven't said anything…" He smiled as he gently said.
"I know that look… Not now… Please," She pleaded, but he forced himself to continue.
"I have to... We have to... I realised you deserve better…" It brought tears to her eyes hearing him say that.
"I am not divorced yet. You are… I'm in a mess of this toxic industry. I don't want to pull you into this mess. You have potential, but you're not meant for this industry. So, go… You're free to pursue all your dreams freely. I will get Sam to make arrangements…" Before he could finished she interrupted angrily.
"No, you don't have to. I'm staying…" She was persistent, and he nearly gave up fighting her as he contemplated his choices.
"Till you find someone qualified as your assistant." She added through gritted teeth. He breathed a sigh of relief as she stormed away from him.
He was surprised at her reaction. He thought she would be pleading and crying that he had earlier prepared Sam to meet him at the foot of the trail. Thinking of that, he quickly chased after Violet, who was quite far ahead and texted Sam to move away.
However, it was all too late for Sam to hide cause Violet had already spotted him from faraway. She glared at him as though she could tear him apart before storming off, leaving Sebastian explaining the whole situation to Sam.
Now, both men are in trouble as they had triggered Violet's temper, and they had no idea of her plans and reactions.
