Hearing his confession, Eira smiled in her heart.
Brandon's voice came slower after that, like he was afraid of how each word might sound. "I know… I know it might seem strange. I tried not to, Eira."
"But Florence she's... kind, strong, and so graceful in everything she does. Being around her, I just… I couldn't help it."
Her lips parted slightly, though no sound came out and she just kept looking at him.
Brandon sighed softly and ran his thumb across the back of her hand "I didn't want to hide it from you anymore. I care about you, Eira, deeply. That will never change. But I also love Florence."
A small silence followed and Eira's gaze drifted down to their joined hands before she spoke.
"So… you're saying you love my mom."
He nodded, unable to meet her eyes for a moment "Yes. I do."
Eira breathed out and then laughed softly "You're unbelievable, you know that?"
"Huh?"
"You really went and fell for my mom too." She shook her head, covering her face with one hand.
