Chapter 340 - Chapter 340 – Discussion with Obito

Sasuke let out a cold snort, circling around Obito with narrowed eyes. "I really didn't expect that the masked man who once wanted to destroy the entire shinobi world would now be here… playing house with a little girl."

Rin's brows furrowed immediately, her voice sharp. "You're the one playing house!"

Sasuke lifted his gaze at her retort. Obito stepped protectively in front of Rin, his single visible eye locking on Sasuke. His tone was measured but tense. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

Seeing Obito's stance, Sasuke allowed a faint smile to curve his lips. "Relax. I'm not here to pick a fight with you. I'm here to ask you for something."

Obito's expression didn't change much. "What do you want?"

Sasuke's gaze flicked past him toward Rin. "Can you have this woman step aside? I'd like to talk to you alone."

Rin immediately tightened her grip on Obito's hand, her voice filled with reluctance. "Why should I leave? I want to stay by Obito's side."

Sasuke turned back to Obito, his eyes glinting. "I want to talk to you about you and my brother. Are you certain you want her to hear this?"

The moment Obito heard mention of Itachi, and realized Sasuke had specifically requested Rin to leave, he knew whatever was about to be discussed couldn't be allowed within her earshot. Slowly, he knelt down in front of her, taking her hands in his own.

"Rin, please—go over there and wait for me until I'm done talking to him."

Rin glanced between Sasuke and Obito, her concern evident. "Alright… but if anything happens, shout. I'll go get Kakashi."

Obito chuckled softly, brushing his finger against her nose. "Don't worry. He won't try anything against me."

With that reassurance, Rin reluctantly moved a short distance away.

Once she was far enough, Sasuke gestured with his chin. "Follow me."

Obito frowned slightly, then gave Rin one last wave and a reassuring smile before trailing after Sasuke. The two walked up a nearby slope—high enough that Rin, now standing at the bottom, could still see them but not hear clearly.

"Alright," Obito said, his tone clipped. "Tell me. What do you want?"

Sasuke's voice was steady, but there was a burning determination behind it. "Back then, when you and my brother annihilated the Uchiha clan, you didn't just take the clan's eyes… you probably collected a lot of their blood as well."

Obito's brow furrowed as he stared back at Sasuke. He wasn't sure where this line of questioning was going.

As if reading his thoughts, Sasuke continued, "I'm going to use the Rinne Tensei no Jutsu—the Six Paths Reincarnation Technique—to bring the Uchiha clan back to life."

"What?!"

Obito froze, his mind reeling. The idea was beyond insane—more reckless than anything even Madara had suggested. Resurrecting the entire Uchiha clan? That was madness.

Before he could fully process the thought, Sasuke pressed on. "Whether I resurrect one person or a hundred, the technique is the same. If you help me, I'll promise you this—I will resurrect Rin… completely."

Sasuke's eyes flickered in Rin's direction. The mention of her name snapped Obito out of his daze. He turned, looking toward her figure in the distance.

Imitating Naruto's persuasive tone, Sasuke spoke with deliberate temptation. "Obito… whether you were an enemy or an ally, don't you understand by now? The thing you care about most in this world is her. For her, you gave up on your dream of becoming Hokage, you tore the Nine-Tails from Kushina, and you even attacked Konoha."

"I'm telling you now—help me, and after I bring Rin back, I'll let you walk free. You and she can go anywhere you want. Naruto himself made you a similar promise during the war, didn't he?"

Obito swallowed hard, the old ache in his chest returning.

Sasuke smirked slightly. He could see the doubt and longing warring in Obito's expression. Good… he's tempted.

"Once she's resurrected," Sasuke continued, "in five or six years, Rin will be a grown woman again. You could marry her, have children, and live quietly on some remote island where no one will ever find you. Tell me you don't want that."

Obito's heart skipped a beat. That vision—marrying Rin—wasn't just a passing thought. It had been his ideal since youth.

Finally, Obito locked eyes with Sasuke. "What do I have to do?"

Sasuke's smirk deepened. "First, you'll need to reassure her. Then, you're going to take me to where you've hidden the Uchiha eyes and blood you collected."

Both men knew exactly why Rin had been sent away earlier—Sasuke wanted to keep her ignorant of Obito's past atrocities.

Obito approached Rin again. "Rin, I'm going with Sasuke to meet Naruto. You go to Kakashi first. Once I'm done, I'll come find you."

Her eyes narrowed. "Really? You're not lying to me?"

For a moment, Obito nearly faltered—back then, whenever he lied, Rin would look at him exactly like this, and he'd struggle to keep a straight face. But now, he forced down the guilt and gave a gentle smile. "Of course it's true. Why would I lie to you?"

Seeing no sign of deception in his expression, Rin relented. "Alright. I'll go to Kakashi. But come find me as soon as you're done."

"I will," Obito promised.

Only after Rin disappeared from sight did Sasuke step up. "Let's go."

Without another word, Obito activated Kamui, warping them both away in an instant.

They reappeared in Obito's old hidden base. Sasuke's gaze drifted toward a gaping hole in the wall and a shattered crystal coffin—where Rin's preserved body had once been stored.

"This was Kabuto and Orochimaru's doing during the war," Obito muttered. "They took her to the battlefield without noticing… I had other things hidden here."

He led Sasuke deeper into the base. At the far wall, instead of phasing through, Obito clenched his fist and drove it forward.

With a thunderous crack, the wall split open, revealing a hidden tunnel.

"This way, Sasuke."

Inside, Sasuke's eyes widened in shock. A wall lined with massive glass cylinders stretched before them, each jar filled with liquid—and a single Sharingan suspended within.

"This… this is—!"

Obito's tone was calm, almost cold. "These are the eyes I collected when your brother and I wiped out the Uchiha clan."

Sasuke's rage surged instantly. In a blur, he slammed Obito against the wall by the throat, lifting him off the ground.

Obito winced, gripping Sasuke's wrist. "I know you hate me. But I didn't do this entirely by choice—it was your brother who asked me to help."

"Even if I hadn't taken them, Danzo would have. You know that."

Sasuke's eyes narrowed, but after a moment, he released him.

Obito coughed, rubbing his neck. "I collected most of the awakened Sharingan first. Danzo got what was left. Those who hadn't awakened their eyes—I didn't bother. If you want their blood, there's nothing to give you."

Sasuke's gaze remained fixed on the wall of eyes. "Then where did the ones on Danzo's arm come from? Did he scavenge them after you?"

Obito nodded. "There were still Uchiha shinobi working in the village—Anbu, military police, and other departments. Danzo used the massacre as an excuse to summon them to Root headquarters. Then he killed them and harvested their eyes."

A cold breath hissed through Sasuke's teeth. The memory of Danzo's body consumed by Amaterasu flames almost felt merciful compared to what he now deserved.
