The Daimyo of the Fire Country stood atop the Hokage Building, facing the microphone. Below him, thousands of villagers had gathered, their eyes fixed on the stage.
"Hello, fellow villagers of Konoha!" the Daimyo's voice rang out clearly through the loudspeakers. He smiled warmly and waved, the sound amplifying across the entire crowd. Shizune stood behind him, nodding in approval.
Down below, the villagers erupted in cheers. "What a great name! Long live the Hokage!"
The Daimyo beamed, pleased by the villagers' enthusiasm. No one could resist the way the people of Konoha showed their respect.
"Today marks the handover of the Hokage," the Daimyo began, his voice carrying authority and gravitas. "Originally, I did not plan to attend. But my ministers reminded me that this handover is unlike any other. It is different from the past. And do you know why?"
The crowd fell silent, hanging on his every word.
"Because we have just survived a world war. Many friends and family were lost during this conflict. We have felt a pain that cannot be described in words. And now, more than ever, we understand the preciousness of peace!"
He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in.
"This Hokage handover is being held against this backdrop. Therefore, as the Daimyo of the Fire Country, it is my duty to come to Konoha Village and witness this solemn moment with all of you!"
He raised his hand. "Now, I officially declare that the Hokage handover ceremony has begun!"
Thunderous applause erupted from the villagers, a wave of voices that shook the streets.
Sasuke crossed his arms, his expression cold and stoic as he looked up at the high platform. Naruto rested a hand on his shoulder and whispered teasingly, "What's wrong? Kakashi's becoming Hokage. You don't look very happy—are you grumbling?"
Sasuke turned to see Naruto's familiar grin. "Why did you come here?" he asked curtly.
"Something came up. Took me a while," Naruto replied, glancing around.
Before Sasuke could retort, Naruto's eyes caught something. "Hinata!" he called out.
Sasuke simply sighed and muttered under his breath, unable to complain. Naruto dashed toward Hinata, leaving Sasuke behind.
Inside the Hokage Building, Minato brought Kakashi and White Fang to meet Jiraiya. After explaining the situation, Jiraiya chuckled. "Kakashi will be thrilled. Don't worry."
The three of them then went to check the ventilation with Shizune. Shizune raised an eyebrow at White Fang, who was using the Transformation Technique, but then nodded calmly. "I'll make the arrangements."
Outside, after the Daimyo finished his speech, Tsunade stepped forward to address the villagers.
"Hello, everyone. I am the Fifth Hokage, Senju Tsunade! Granddaughter of the First Hokage, grandniece of the Second Hokage, disciple of the Third Hokage, aunt of the Fourth Hokage, and one of the legendary Sannin of Konoha!"
No one in the crowd scoffed at her list of titles; she was simply stating facts, and the villagers understood the weight of her words.
Tsunade continued, her voice firm and proud: "Kakashi Hatake is truly fortunate. Like his master, the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze, he now takes the Hokage baton from his predecessor. For Konoha, everyone here understands the challenges of leadership. The Second Hokage took his position in a rush, the Third Hokage assumed his role on the battlefield, and I, too, was summoned to serve by Jiraiya. Peace is hard-won. Today's Konoha stands as a testament to the efforts of generations of Hokages and villagers. Now, I am honored to hand this responsibility to Kakashi!"
"Let us welcome the Sixth Hokage, Hatake Kakashi, with a round of applause!"
Tsunade stepped aside. Kakashi took a deep breath and stepped forward, standing in line beside her. Their eyes met for a brief moment, sharing a silent acknowledgment of the weight of this day.
Shizune approached, carrying the ceremonial Hokage robes. Tsunade helped Kakashi put them on and handed him the iconic Hokage hat.
"Congratulations, Kakashi, on your appointment as the Sixth Hokage," Tsunade said warmly.
Kakashi accepted the hat, bowing respectfully. "Thank you, Lord Daimyo. Thank you, Tsunade-sama. And thank you to all the villagers for your trust."
Nodding, he placed the hat on his head and stepped forward, mirroring the salute of the Fourth Hokage.
Suddenly, the crowd erupted into cheers.
"Sixth Hokage!"
"Sixth Hokage!"
"Sixth Hokage!"
Looking down at the sea of villagers, Kakashi felt a mixture of pride and humility. Only now did he fully comprehend what it meant to be a leader. Only now did the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders.
As the cheers died down, Kakashi addressed the crowd. "Everyone, I am honored to be inaugurated as the Sixth Hokage today! First, I would like to thank the Daimyo for his recognition, and Tsunade-sama for her recommendation. Most importantly, I thank everyone in the village for your trust."
"Becoming Hokage has been a dream of mine since childhood. I never thought seriously about it until one of my best friends often reminded me that I wanted to be Hokage when I grew up. In the end, I realized that his dream became my own."
Down below, Obito smiled quietly, pride softening his usually stern features.
Kakashi continued: "Although I know becoming Hokage is a journey that requires years of growth and effort, I have always strived to be an excellent ninja because… my father taught me the principles of being a shinobi. My father was my childhood hero. He was remarkable. But, due to certain circumstances, he had to leave."
Whispers spread through the audience. Few knew Kakashi's personal history, but those who did felt the depth of his words.
White Fang, standing behind Kakashi with the Transformation Technique, was filled with emotion.
Kakashi's voice grew stronger. "After my father left, I, like many others in the village, questioned his actions. But my best friend revealed the truth. In the ninja world, those who break rules are considered worthless—but those who abandon their comrades are far worse."
He smiled gently. "From that moment, I understood the importance of companions. No matter the mission, no matter the danger, comrades always come first. Only then did I truly understand my father—and that he had always been my hero."
White Fang stepped forward, moved beyond words. Obito, standing below, shook his head with a small, affectionate smile.
Kakashi continued: "Later, that same friend entrusted me with his eye, marking the beginning of my reputation as the Copy Ninja. And when tragedy struck, when that friend died unexpectedly, I became withdrawn. But thanks to the guidance of my teacher, the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, I returned to the path of light."
"I continued to grow. Throughout this journey, my other friend, Rin Nohara, has always been an inspiration. I want to say to her—Rin, if it weren't for your optimism and courage, I would not be here today."
Down below, Rin, seated nearby, wiped tears from her eyes, quietly moved.
Kakashi's voice steadied as he addressed the crowd: "Under the guidance of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, I continued to learn and grow. Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to teach Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. And with the support of friends and villagers alike, I have accomplished many things. I promise that, as Hokage, I will continue to dedicate myself to building a strong, peaceful Konoha—for everyone. Thank you!"
He bowed once more, and the villagers responded with a thunderous round of applause. The Sixth Hokage had officially begun his reign.
