Naruto frowned slightly at Toneri's words.
"With your help, the possibility will be greater?" he thought. What's that supposed to mean? Are you saying Boruto's dōjutsu couldn't awaken without your help?
Toneri noticed Naruto's change in expression and blinked in confusion. "Naruto, why do you ask that?"
Naruto quickly forced a laugh, scratching his head. "Ah, nothing serious. I was just curious. But what I wanted to know was — if the Hyuga clan and the Uzumaki clan were to unite, there's still a chance the child could inherit the Byakugan, right?"
Toneri nodded, his tone calm and analytical. "Of course. The probability is small, but it exists. You carry the chakra of the Sage of Six Paths and the lineage of Asura Ōtsutsuki. Combined with the Hyuga bloodline that descends from Hamura, it's theoretically possible that your child could inherit the Byakugan."
Naruto exhaled softly and leaned back in his chair. So that's how it is. The thought lingered in his mind — Boruto's Jōgan, the Pure Eye, was never a coincidence. It was a convergence of powers — the legacy of Asura, the Hyuga's purity, and the influence of the Ōtsutsuki.
But in this life, he was determined to face the Ōtsutsuki threat differently. He wouldn't let Boruto walk the same painful path. As a father, he wouldn't allow his son to face death so young.
After chatting a little longer, Naruto helped Toneri settle at a local inn in Konoha. He chose one of the best guest rooms for him — after all, Toneri had lived in a grand palace on the moon.
Naruto smiled at the innkeeper. "My friend's temporarily blind and recovering from surgery. Please take good care of him."
As he spoke, Naruto slipped a few bills into the young attendant's hand.
The attendant's eyes widened. "No, Lord Seventh! I can't possibly accept this! It's our honor to serve you!"
Naruto chuckled softly and waved his hand. "Go on, take it. Think of it as my way of saying thanks."
The boy hesitated, but seeing Naruto's warm expression, he accepted the money with gratitude. Deep inside, he was thrilled — it wasn't every day that the Hero of the Fourth Great Ninja War handed you a tip personally.
Despite Toneri's unusual clothing and pale features, the inn's owner didn't question anything. After all, who would doubt someone brought in personally by the Seventh Hokage?
"Toneri, you can stay here for now," Naruto said kindly. "If you need anything, just call for the staff."
Toneri nodded calmly. "Understood."
After making sure Toneri was comfortable, Naruto left the inn. The moment he stepped outside, two masked figures appeared in front of him.
"Lord Seventh," one of the Anbu said formally, "the Hokage requests your presence immediately."
Naruto blinked. "The Hokage? You mean Tsunade-baachan?"
The Anbu replied flatly, "No. The Sixth Hokage — Kakashi Hatake-sama."
Naruto chuckled to himself. "Kakashi-sensei, huh? Alright, let's go."
Following the Anbu through the quiet evening streets, Naruto soon reached the Hokage Office. The familiar wooden doors creaked as he pushed them open.
"Kakashi-sensei, you wanted to see me?"
Behind the desk, Kakashi looked up from a stack of mission reports. The Sharingan in his left eye was long gone, but his sharp gaze remained the same. "Ah, Naruto. Come in."
Naruto stepped forward and stood before the desk as Kakashi placed down his papers.
"I heard," Kakashi began, "that you brought Toneri Ōtsutsuki back from the moon, and that you took him to Orochimaru's laboratory. He's staying in a hotel now, correct?"
Naruto smiled awkwardly. "Heh, looks like word travels fast. Yeah, that's right. I brought him here to help with a Byakugan transplant. Orochimaru already had a pair stored from a long time ago."
Kakashi interlocked his fingers, his brow furrowing slightly. "A Byakugan from Orochimaru's collection? That's the Hyuga clan's kekkei genkai. Doesn't the clan have a right to it?"
Naruto shook his head. "That one's special. Orochimaru collected it during the Third Great Ninja War. It was kept secret even from the Hyuga elders, so it won't cause any trouble."
Kakashi sighed in relief. "Good. I had to ask — the Hyuga clan can be… complicated when it comes to their eyes." He leaned back in his chair, the corners of his visible eye softening. "I'm not doubting you, Naruto. I just needed the full story."
Naruto grinned. "No worries, Kakashi-sensei. I get it."
After a brief silence, Kakashi smiled faintly. "You know, I never properly thanked you."
Naruto blinked. "Thanked me? For what?"
"For bringing back my father," Kakashi said quietly. His voice carried a weight Naruto rarely heard from him. "You gave me a chance to speak with him again — to understand him. You helped me put a lot of old pain to rest."
Naruto smiled warmly. "That's good to hear, sensei. I'm glad you got to see him again."
After a few more words, Naruto excused himself and left the Hokage's office. The sun had begun to set, casting a golden hue over the village rooftops. His steps carried him instinctively toward the Hyuga compound.
When he reached the gates, a familiar gentle voice called out. "Naruto."
He turned and saw Hinata approaching, her long indigo hair swaying in the evening breeze.
"Hinata," he greeted, smiling.
They walked together into the backyard, where the cherry blossoms had just started to bloom. Naruto explained everything — Toneri's arrival, his condition, and the Byakugan transplant.
Hinata's lavender eyes widened. "Why would Orochimaru even have a Byakugan?"
Naruto sighed. "He collected it during one of the past wars. Don't worry — it's not from anyone in your clan. But yeah… he had it stored all these years."
Hinata nodded slowly. "I understand. Still, it's best if we don't let the Hyuga elders know. They might misunderstand, and it could cause unnecessary trouble."
Naruto agreed with a quiet nod. "You're right."
For a moment, the air between them grew soft and warm — until Hinata suddenly looked at him with a shy, mysterious expression.
"Um, Naruto… there's something I need to tell you."
Naruto tilted his head. "What is it?"
Hinata hesitated, then said softly, "My… my period hasn't come this month."
Naruto blinked, completely missing the implication. "Huh? What happened to your aunt?"
Hinata stared at him blankly, her cheeks reddening.
It took Naruto a few seconds — and Hinata's icy silence — before realization struck. His face turned red. "Wait, you mean—!?"
Hinata nodded shyly.
Naruto's eyes widened, and then pure joy lit his face. He immediately pulled her into a tight hug. "Hinata! Have you gone to check yet?"
She shook her head. "Not yet. We're not married yet, remember? If I suddenly go to the hospital now, people might talk."
Naruto laughed sheepishly and nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense. You're right, Hinata. You always think ahead."
Hinata gently placed her hand over her belly, her voice trembling softly. "Naruto… let's get married soon. After that, we can go to the hospital and confirm everything. What do you think?"
Naruto grinned so wide his cheeks hurt. "Absolutely! Let's do it."
He couldn't stop smiling. Just this morning, he'd been discussing the possibilities of the Pure Eye with Toneri. Now, Hinata was possibly pregnant with their first child. Life really was full of miracles.
Hinata looked up at him and asked gently, "If I really am pregnant… do you think it'll be a boy or a girl?"
Naruto chuckled. "The first will be a boy, and the second a girl!"
Hinata smiled, her eyes full of warmth. "Then what should we name them?"
Naruto looked at her proudly. "If it's a boy — Boruto. And if it's a girl — Himawari."
Hinata repeated the names softly, as if tasting them. "Boruto… Himawari… Himawari is such a beautiful name."
Naruto smiled lovingly. "You're the one who gave me that name in the first place."
Hinata laughed quietly, her face glowing in the twilight. "Then it's settled."
The couple sat together in the quiet backyard, the fading sun painting the sky in orange and gold. For a moment, the entire world seemed peaceful — as if time itself had paused for them.
