Chapter 458 - Chapter 458: Sasuke's Love and Hatred

Konohamaru's three-person shooting team was officially established!

The shop owner not only provided a better camera but also taught Konohamaru some advanced shooting techniques. At the same time, he instructed Udon and Moegi on auxiliary tasks.

For example, Udon could handle filling in the light, while Moegi was responsible for holding the microphone and capturing sound.

Under the shop owner's guidance, the three of them felt as if they had opened a whole new world.

On the other side of Konoha, as Naruto's close friend, Sasuke had also learned from his father that Naruto was about to get married. He felt a twinge of surprise deep in his heart. After all, seeing one's closest comrade about to tie the knot was a strange sensation, even for someone like him.

Fugaku Uchiha looked at Sasuke and asked, "Sasuke, have you thought about a gift for Naruto's wedding? After all, Naruto has always been close to your family, and your relationship with him is strong."

Sasuke replied calmly, "Ah… I haven't really thought about a gift yet. Let's wait a little longer."

Mikoto Uchiha scowled at her husband and said, "What did you tell him about preparing a gift? What does he know? He's still a child. This is up to me—I'll handle it myself!"

Fugaku sighed. "You still think of him as a child. Strictly speaking, he is now the last representative of the Uchiha clan. If Naruto rises to power, Sasuke could very well become the second most important figure in the village."

Mikoto frowned, annoyed. "Stop talking about politics. I don't want Sasuke to be involved. Itachi has already been a victim of village politics, and I don't want Sasuke suffering the same fate. Sasuke, listen carefully: your relationship with Naruto is precious. If Naruto really becomes Hokage, stay out of political matters. Just live as an ordinary person. That's enough."

Sasuke smiled faintly. Of course, he understood what his mother meant.

In the past, under such tense circumstances, the Uchiha had harbored ambitions that ultimately led to the clan's downfall. And his older brother, Itachi, had sacrificed his life for the village, the clan, and for Sasuke himself.

Sometimes Sasuke wondered: if the village had treated the Uchiha sincerely, if the clan had not been driven by ambition, if Madara and Hashirama had never clashed, if Black Zetsu had never existed, if Kaguya had never returned…

Would he and Naruto have been able to live happily together in the village since childhood? Would Itachi have genuinely loved him without carrying the burden of tragedy? Even if he never became a prodigy, even if he lived a simple life, perhaps happiness would have been possible.

But reality had no "what ifs."

Ding dong!

Just as he pondered these thoughts, the doorbell rang. Mikoto got up and walked toward the front door. "It can't be Itachi… is it?" she muttered to herself.

Sasuke peeked quietly. "It's… Karin?"

Karin smiled politely at Mikoto. "Hello, Aunt Mikoto. Is Sasuke at home?"

Mikoto nodded. "Yes, yes, of course. Come in."

Sasuke had heard the sound earlier, but where could he hide at home? He had no choice but to remain.

As soon as Karin stepped inside, she greeted Fugaku politely. Fugaku, ever mindful of strong bloodlines, was impressed. Karin's Uzumaki heritage—from the same clan as Kushina—was a perfect match for the Uchiha clan.

"Karin, come, sit here," Fugaku said, gesturing to a chair.

Karin smiled. "Thank you, Uncle Fugaku."

After sitting, Mikoto brought a pot of tea to Karin. She thanked Mikoto politely and then glanced at Sasuke. Fugaku and Mikoto exchanged knowing looks. Fugaku cleared his throat. "Sasuke, Karin came to see you. Why don't you step outside for a while?"

Karin held her tea cup delicately. "Uncle, I'm not only here for Sasuke—I also wanted to see both of you."

Mikoto smiled. "Such a sweet mouth on this child."

Sasuke closed his eyes briefly, frustration boiling up. Forget it. I'll just take her out before something happens.

"Karin, let's go," Sasuke said firmly. He stood and walked toward the door.

Mikoto called after him, slightly annoyed, "You child! I haven't even finished my tea, and you're rushing off without any courtesy!"

Sasuke ignored her and stepped outside. Karin hurried after him, bowing respectfully to Mikoto and Fugaku. "I'm sorry for the trouble, Uncle, Aunt Mikoto. I'll leave now!"

Mikoto waved her off with a smile. "No trouble, no trouble. Go ahead."

Karin bowed, put on her shoes, and followed Sasuke out. Mikoto watched her leave and sighed. "Such a good girl. With her Uzumaki lineage and abilities, she's an excellent match for Sasuke."

Fugaku nodded, impressed. "Truly admirable."

Mikoto continued thoughtfully, "When Sasuke was just a child, Naruto hadn't even been born yet. Now, Naruto is about to marry Hinata. Sasuke is the only one left to carry the Uchiha legacy. He should marry well and strengthen the clan by having children."

Fugaku agreed silently, offering no objection.

"By the way," Mikoto continued, "there's also Haruno Sakura. She's liked Sasuke since childhood. She's another girl who could be good for him. We should help him connect with her, too."

Fugaku replied impatiently, "I know, I know."

Outside, after Karin left the house, Sasuke strode forward without looking back. Karin hurried to keep up, grasping his hand gently.

Along the way, many resurrected Uchiha clan members observed them with smiles. Like Fugaku, many elders secretly hoped Sasuke would marry and have children. After all, he was now the last official Uchiha.

Shisui and Itachi… the lingering estrangement was unspoken but deeply felt.

"Tell me… why are you here for me?" Sasuke asked coldly.

Leaning sweetly against his shoulder, Karin said, "Sasuke-kun, why are you being so cold? Come on, let's go to my place. I have something important to tell you!"

Sasuke tensed, remembering the last encounter at Karin's new home. "If you have something to say, just say it outside."

Karin's eyes flashed with frustration. She released his arm. "Naruto said you would change, yet you're like this! What are you hiding? What are you afraid of? You're still a man!"

Sasuke froze, momentarily at a loss for words. Glancing around nervously, he whispered, "Keep your voice down!"

"I won't!" Karin snapped back, her voice carrying.

"I just want to know… is it true, like Shuiyue guessed? Tell me, can you do it?"

Her shout was so loud that many nearby Uchiha clan members turned their heads in shock.

"No way… the youngest son of the Uchiha patriarch can't do it!"

"Hey! What are you doing? The gods would destroy my Uchiha clan!"

"Is this true? Do we need to consult the clan elders to help Sasuke?"

Sasuke's anger finally boiled over. He lunged forward, covering Karin's mouth with his hand, and hissed fiercely, "Shut up! Go back to your place! I'll show you today… if it works, you'll see for yourself!"

Karin froze under his intense gaze, the air between them charged with tension.
