When Raynare fell flat on the floor, pathetically dragging herself backward in an attempt to get away from him, Adam watched with a faint sense of satisfaction. It seemed that his name had truly echoed among the fallen angels as that of an executioner.

Surprising at first glance, but when he stopped to reflect on his routine over the last ten thousand years, it was entirely believable. He had completely dismissed the possibility that he had left any meaningful impact on this world, but buried in his own self-deprecation, he failed to realize that since the age of eighty, ever since Eve died, he had wandered the earth with nothing but hatred in his mind.

A powerful enemy was frightening, but an enemy that would hunt you forever…

Even he could feel a trace of fear toward his former self.

Mittelt, who until now had remained near the stage, watched the scene in complete shock. She knew Adam was strong, and she also believed he was stronger than Raynare, but seeing the fallen angel who had dared act behind Azazel's back practically crawling on the floor in terror…

That was something she could never have predicted.

Still, she understood it.

She had not connected the pieces before, but when Raynare mentioned Adam's title, Mittelt immediately understood the terror her former leader was feeling.

The Fallen Reaper was not merely a myth meant to scare children, nor just a cautionary tale.

It was a horror story born from war, from fallen angels encountering a force that was not merely intimidating or unconquerable…

It was a story about facing the inevitable.

Once the first man chose a target, whether it took days, weeks, months, or even years, eventually, he would finish the hunt.

Aside from those who hid themselves away, constantly surrounded by allies, too cowardly to remain alone for decades, every target eventually became prey in his endless pursuit.

And the worst part was that the first man did not attack with reason. He did not hunt because he had been provoked or attacked first.

If you had black wings, you became his prey.

No exceptions. No mercy.

Had Mittelt not spent the last two days inside Adam's home, witnessing how he treated Asia, and even how he treated her, she would have been utterly terrified as well.

So either the legends were exactly that, mere legends…

Or the end of the war had softened the man who once hunted her race without rest.

"Wait!"

Adam, who had just taken a step forward, raised an eyebrow when Raynare suddenly shouted, her voice overflowing with panic and desperation.

"I-I surrender!"

Without a shred of hesitation, she dropped to her knees, her wide eyes shining with what could only be described as genuine fear as she looked at him pleadingly.

"I was foolish! I was foolish to do all of this!"

Her hands came together almost like a prayer.

A truly pathetic sight in Adam's eyes.

"Please spare me! I swear I will never attack another human again! I swear I will never appear before you again!"

Her pleas came out desperately while, beneath Adam's emotionless blue gaze, every part of her body trembled uncontrollably. A few feathers even drifted down from her slightly spread black wings.

Off to the side, Freed watched with disgust. His grip on his light pistol tightened, but despite all his madness, even he hesitated to act. In truth, it was painfully obvious that nothing he did would work against this monster. His best option was escape, but…

The moment he subtly shifted one foot backward, the hairs on his neck stood up when Adam's eyes glanced toward him for a single instant before returning to Raynare.

He was still on this man's radar.

Adam stared silently at Raynare.

For a brief moment, though it felt unbearably long to the other three, he simply watched her.

Then he took another step forward, the blade of light shimmering in his hand while an overwhelming pressure radiated from his body.

Every instinct inside Raynare screamed at her, making her body tremble even harder. If fear had a visible meter beside her, it would have shattered past its limit already.

"No! Please! I beg you! Let me live!" she cried, tears gathering in her eyes.

But Adam did not stop.

"I-I'll apologize to that girl!"

He continued approaching.

"I-I swear loyalty to you!"

Her words seemed to fall on deaf ears, each of his footsteps growing louder in the suffocating silence.

Raynare's eyes darted wildly around the room in search of salvation, but Freed could only stand frozen, and Mittelt could not even bring herself to look her in the eye.

And that made her realize something.

There was no salvation for her.

Tears streamed down her face. Her teeth trembled, her nose growing wet as she descended into a completely pathetic and undignified mess.

"I'll do anything!"

Adam stopped directly before her.

Raynare shut her eyes tightly, shrinking into herself like a wounded insect.

Silence overtook the room for several seconds.

And then, instead of the sound of flesh being cut and burned, or a body being beaten apart…

Nothing happened.

"What a pathetic sight."

Adam's voice came with clear mockery, but beneath it there was also exhaustion.

"Look at me."

He ordered lazily, but to Raynare, it sounded absolute, overflowing with authority. Even with fear consuming her, her arms slowly lowered from her face so she could look at him.

"If fear managed to put some sense into your head…"

Grabbing her wrist, he effortlessly pulled her to her feet until she stood before him properly.

Raynare let out a frightened squeak, her wings shrinking against her back as she met the blue eyes of the first man.

"Then you will swear loyalty to me. Right now."

His eyes sharpened with intent as he spoke firmly.

"And in return, I will give you a chance to live."

Raynare froze for a moment.

Then, the smallest trace of relief softened the trembling of her body, and she nodded rapidly.

At this point, loyalty to her leaders never even crossed her mind.

She only wanted to survive this horrifying encounter.

Adam observed her for a few more seconds before finally releasing her. Her legs immediately gave out, and she collapsed to her knees once more.

He sighed, uncertain about his decision for a brief moment. Perhaps it was the wrong choice, but honestly, Raynare looked so pitiful that he completely lost the desire to kill her.

In the end, he had made his decision.

If Raynare ever tried to betray him in the future, he would simply separate her head from her body without hesitation.

His gaze shifted toward Mittelt, causing the small fallen angel to flinch instinctively.

"Mittelt, it seems you'll have a coworker now, so teach her properly," he said with a faint smile.

Mittelt stared at him in disbelief before swallowing hard and nodding.

Adam nodded back, satisfied. He did not know if this counted as a perfect victory, but it felt at least somewhat pleasant.

Far better than his victories in the past, where he would stand drenched in blood and surrounded by corpses.

At least this time, he had managed to spare someone…

"..."

Adam fell silent for a moment, his gaze slowly turning toward Freed, who immediately recoiled under it.

Well, more accurately, he had managed to spare one person.

He had no intention of showing mercy twice in the same day.
