Svetlana, who had just been observing Allen's interaction with Ada—a woman who clearly seemed to know Allen—shook her head.
"Okay, you two, stop flirting here. And Allen, we'd better get inside the building and finish our mission as quickly as possible," Svetlana said seriously.
They then moved into the building, but Ada, curious, leaned toward Allen and asked in a low voice,
"Allen, who is she?"
"She's Svetlana, an instructor for S.T.A.R.S., and right now she's working as my protector."
"As a man, you seem a lot more interested in surrounding yourself with beautiful women as your bodyguards," Ada said, trying to tease him.
"You're not wrong. Besides, having female bodyguards is way more enjoyable than having male ones. And she's highly skilled—I hope you won't underestimate her," Allen replied.
"Who said I'm underestimating your bodyguard just because she's a woman?" Ada shot back, staring at Allen. She was a woman herself and hated it when her skills were dismissed simply because of her gender as a spy.
"By the way, Ada, would you be interested in becoming my bodyguard too? I'd definitely pay you a lot for your services."
Ada rolled her eyes at his words. "Keep dreaming, Allen."
Meanwhile, Allen, Ada, and Svetlana had just entered the old building. Inside, Joseph was running, being chased by a man with his head covered by a cloth and a massive axe in his hands.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Joseph fired his gun at the man, but he seemed completely impervious to bullets and kept charging after him.
"What the fuck—this is impossible! How is he still alive even after being shot multiple times?!" Joseph felt like his luck had been rotten since the very beginning of this mission. He had nearly died countless times already, and now it seemed the world itself was set on killing him.
"Joseph, get out of there!" shouted Barry, his teammate. Barry then drew a magnum pistol, a large-caliber weapon powerful enough to bring down an elephant. Barry was sure this would finally stop the man. And if it didn't, then nothing else could.
Bang!... Bang!...Bang!..
Barry fired his magnum again and again until his bullets were spent.
The axe man finally collapsed, black blood pouring from his body.
"All clear," Barry said, blowing the smoke from his gun with satisfaction.
"Don't say that—you just jinxed us," Enrico warned.
CRACK! A door suddenly burst open from the other side, and everyone immediately aimed their weapons in that direction.
"Hey, guys, thank goodness you're all safe," Allen called out as he entered with Svetlana and Ada.
The moment Jill and Rebecca saw him, they ran straight toward him and embraced him.
"Allen! Thank goodness you're okay," Jill said before kissing him. Rebecca followed right after, doing the same.
The atmosphere instantly became uncomfortable for the rest of the team, who felt as though they'd just been slapped in the face with dog shit by the couple's public display of affection.
"Are you alright, Allen? You're not hurt, are you?" Rebecca asked.
"I'm fine, don't worry," Allen reassured her.
"Hahaha, good. I'm glad you're safe, Allen," Enrico said as the team captain, relieved that one of his men had come back unharmed. But then he noticed Allen wasn't alone. His eyes narrowed as he pointed toward the unfamiliar woman.
"Allen, who is she?" Enrico asked.
"Oh, captain, this is Ada Wong. She got stranded when her vehicle broke down in the mountains. I saw her running from monsters near this building, so I rescued her," Allen explained smoothly, giving Ada an alibi so the S.T.A.R.S. team wouldn't become suspicious of her.
After hearing Allen's words, Enrico asked him to protect Ada, and Allen didn't mind taking on that responsibility.
"Are you alright, ma'am? You look hurt," Allen asked.
Rebecca stepped in to help check on her.
"I'm fine, just a few scratches," Ada replied to Rebecca.
The team continued moving, searching for clues.
"Do we have a plan?" Allen asked.
Enrico shook his head. "We're gathering the evidence we need, and as for a plan—we're looking for a way to destroy this place. It seems to be the main source of where these monsters are coming from, but we don't have the equipment to bring it down yet," the Bravo Team captain explained.
"Ah, Captain, what if we use this?" Allen pulled out several explosives from his bag—enough to level the foundation of the facility.
"Why on earth are you carrying those in your bag?" Enrico asked, speechless at the sight of so many explosives.
"Well, you know, Captain, this is my first mission, so I thought I'd bring everything I had."
"Hahaha, you're unbelievable, Allen. But thanks to you, it looks like we've got ourselves a plan."
Enrico then spoke with Wesker, who agreed to use Allen's explosives to blow up the facility. Other team members also found several fuel barrels left behind, which would help.
"Alright then, let's split into smaller groups. Some will investigate for evidence, while the others will set up the charges," Wesker ordered quickly.
In truth, Wesker was very interested in the facility. It seemed like he was looking for something in particular, and he wanted to move around on his own.
Meanwhile, Allen, Rebecca, Jill, and Svetlana were grouped together to protect Alyssa and Ada. They headed upstairs, since Alyssa insisted—she felt there might be something up there that could serve as evidence.
As they climbed the stairs, they heard a noise.
"Is someone there?" Rebecca whispered.
Moments later, footsteps approached them. Rebecca tried to move forward to check, but Jill stopped her.
"Be careful. We don't know if that's a person or a monster," Jill warned.
Sure enough, the figure was the axe-wielding monster Barry had shot earlier. Somehow, he had risen again, and now he came charging at them.
Slash! He swung his axe at Rebecca, but Allen blocked him with a precise shot to the arm.
Bang! … Bang! … Bang!
The others fired as well, but his body was unnaturally tough.
"This place is too tight!" Allen shouted as they retreated to a more open area.
Bang! Bang! Allen fired again.
"What the hell? His body's like iron!" Allen gritted his teeth, dodging the heavy swings.
Svetlana stepped forward, drawing the monster's attention so Allen could shoot. Together, they pushed him back toward a window.
Seeing her chance, Jill rushed forward and delivered a powerful kick to his head. Her strike sent the monster flying through the window and crashing down to the floor below.
"Thanks, love," Allen said.
"You're welcome," Jill replied.
"How is he even alive? Didn't Barry already shoot him down?" Rebecca asked.
Allen, just hearing this, could only shake his head.
Soon after, Ada, Alyssa, and Rebecca approached once it was safe. They prepared to continue, but Alyssa suddenly froze, clutching her head.
"Wait… I remember this place. I've been here before—ahhh, my head…" She winced in pain as fragments of memory returned.
"Don't push yourself," Rebecca said softly.
"It's okay, I'm just a little dizzy… but I remember. Five years ago, my partner Kurt and I came here to investigate rumors of murders!" Alyssa's voice trembled as she recalled the past, tears forming in her eyes.
"Alyssa, listen to me. Don't rush it. Calm yourself first. You're safe here with the six of us. You don't need to worry, okay?" Allen reassured her gently.
After Alyssa stopped crying, she looked at Allen, then continued.
"There was a woman here back then, carrying an axe. She suddenly attacked people—her body already like that of the living dead. She tried to attack me, but Kurt stopped her. He told me to run after she bit him, and he held her back with everything he had. I managed to escape, but… somehow, my memory just vanished. Then, I was fired from the newspaper," Alyssa finished, her voice breaking.
"Alright, we should move now. We can't stay here too long. Alyssa, do you remember anything that might lead us to some evidence? Maybe if we go there, we'll finally find an answer to this case," Allen said.
"Yes… not far from here, I think there's a patient's room. It belonged to one of the initial survivors of the incident," Alyssa replied, pointing them toward the direction.
Jill took point. When they reached the door, she kicked it open with force, sending the zombies behind it stumbling back.
"What the hell happened in this place? Why are there so many monsters?" Rebecca muttered, her patience already wearing thin. The others felt the same, but they knew they needed proof. Without it, their mission would be meaningless.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunfire echoed through the halls as they pressed forward.
Suddenly, the ceiling gave way. Crack! Debris collapsed toward Ada, who didn't have time to move.
"Ada!" Allen shouted, pulling her into his arms just in time to keep her from being crushed.
A massive monster dropped into view—a giant scorpion-like creature, one of Umbrella's registered Bio-Organic Weapons known as Stinger.
The beast lunged toward them. Still held in Allen's arms, Ada quickly snatched his pistol from his holster, since she had no weapon of her own, and opened fire.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The others joined in, but the scorpion's armored shell was far too strong. Their bullets only forced it to stagger back slightly. The relentless barrage only seemed to enrage it further.
Allen lifted Ada fully and carried her, dodging as the monster lashed out. They were in the most danger, being closest to its attacks.
Meanwhile, Rebecca shielded Alyssa, pulling her back to safety, while Jill and Svetlana advanced to intercept.
"Shoot the tail!" Svetlana shouted, spotting its weakness.
Their concentrated fire finally worked—the Stinger's tail split off with a wet crunch, blood spraying across the ruined room. The stench was overwhelming, choking the air.
"Jill, Lana, fall back—I'll use the Grenade Launcher!" Allen commanded after setting Ada down.
They retreated to cover.
Pukk… Pukk! Two grenades launched straight into the monster.
BOOM!
The explosion ripped through the room, collapsing sections of the building along with the Stinger's shredded remains.
Elsewhere, the rest of the S.T.A.R.S. team heard the massive blast, but they were too occupied with their own nightmares: some fighting human-sized mutant mosquitoes, others battling giant frogs. There was no chance for backup.
Meanwhile, deep in the basement, Wesker stood before a massive plant. He was intent on collecting a sample, but his mission was interrupted—the axe-wielding man had returned, relentlessly pursuing him.
"Everyone, get to the basement quick! I've encountered some—" His transmission was cut short as he ducked a flying axe hurled at his head.
"Shit…" Wesker cursed, firing back, but his bullets did nothing. He had no way to stop this B.O.W. on his own.
Gritting his teeth in frustration, he was forced to retreat, swallowing his pride as he ran, buying time and waiting for backup to arrive.
...
Meanwhile, Allen, who overheard Wesker's voice over the radio sounding like he was calling for help, couldn't help but laugh.
"Allen, what are you laughing at?" Ada asked, since she was the only one not connected to the radio.
"It's nothing. I just heard something funny on the radio," Allen replied casually.
"Shouldn't we head downstairs? It sounded like the Captain really needs help," Rebecca asked, her tone a little anxious.
"Yeah, we should go. It'd be bad if our Captain was in danger," Jill added firmly.
Just as the group began to agree to move out, Alyssa suddenly stopped them.
"Wait. I think I know this place." She pointed toward a VIP room door.
Everyone turned to look in that direction, then nodded in agreement—they would check the room first.
Bang! Jill kicked the door open.
"Clear," she said after scanning the room. It was empty.
The others began searching through the space for anything useful. Soon, Ada picked up a diary. She flipped through several pages, her expression tightening as she read.
"It looks like I've found something… something you've all been searching for," Ada said as she walked toward Allen, handing him the diary.
