Allen, after reading part of a diary written by someone named Albert Lester, frowned slightly.
"It seems this man used his wife as a test subject for a drug he received from a mysterious company. His wife was sick, and the disease sounded nearly incurable—most likely something like cancer," Allen said, then handed the diary over for the others to read.
Everyone who looked at its contents was shocked. After taking the drug, Lester's wife did appear cured—but soon after, her behavior began to change.
Alyssa, reading along, seemed to recall something buried in her memory.
"His wife started acting strange… she became hungrier, and even craved raw meat," Rebecca read aloud so everyone could hear.
Jill quietly moved closer to Allen and clasped his hand.
"In some cases, his wife even attacked workers assigned to guard her. Then, a few weeks later, the man received a letter for an interview… and the person scheduled to interview him was Alyssa," Allen continued.
Everyone turned to look at Alyssa.
"If that's true, then we can conclude this much: a few days after the incident involving Alyssa and Kurt, this hospital was shut down," Allen reasoned. He glanced at her again. "Alyssa, are you remembering things clearly now?"
Alyssa lowered her head, avoiding his gaze.
"Allen… do you think the cause of Albert Lester's wife's transformation was the drug given by that mysterious company?" she asked softly.
"Do you all remember the axe man? I believe he was Albert Lester himself. In the diary, he also wrote about hunting wild animals to feed his wife," Allen explained.
Jill then took the diary herself. After reading it, she shook her head in disbelief, unable to accept what she was seeing.
Allen looked back at Alyssa, his tone firm.
"Yeah… and most likely, the drug Albert Lester's wife received from the hospital owner is the root cause. That's where the whole chain began—the cases of people disappearing around the Arklay Mountains. Considering how many animals turned into monsters, this must have been spreading for quite some time. And once the animals were gone, the next targets were the people living near the mountain."
"Isn't Umbrella the biggest pharmaceutical company in this city? Do you think they're involved in all this?" Alyssa asked, her eyes fixed on Allen.
"Hey, don't look at me like that. I was only an intern there, and not for long. I've already been transferred to S.T.A.R.S. now," Allen quickly dodged the bullet Alyssa threw at him.
"But wait—I remember now. Don't you also have your own company, Allen? Why would someone like you even want to work at Umbrella?" Alyssa pressed, her curiosity piqued.
"To be honest, I only worked there because I was bored. I asked one of my contacts to get me in for a change of pace. But, well, they ended up transferring me here instead. Still, at least this way I get to be with my wives while working," Allen replied with a grin, pulling Jill and Rebecca close into his arms.
Alyssa and the others exchanged looks. His blatant display of affection in a setting like this was almost insulting—especially to the singles among them. It was enough to make them quietly frustrated.
"Besides, it's not like Umbrella's the only big pharma company out there. There's also Tricell, Shen Ya, and others. But… I guess it makes sense—Umbrella's the only major one based here in this city," Allen continued casually.
"Please don't drag my husband into this," Jill interjected firmly. "I'm certain he has nothing to do with any of it. Besides, we only returned to this city shortly after I joined S.T.A.R.S.—that was about two years ago. Your case happened roughly five years ago."
"Don't worry, Miss Jill. I don't doubt Allen," Alyssa said softly, guilt touching her tone. "I know your husband is a good man—my instincts tell me that much. I just… want to close this case for my partner, the one who sacrificed himself for me. I can't let his sacrifice be in vain." Her voice wavered as memories of Kurt weighed heavily on her.
"Alright then, let's wrap this up," Allen said, taking charge of the moment. "We've stayed here long enough, and I'm pretty sure Captain Wesker's been waiting on us."
Ever since he met Alyssa, of course Allen wouldn't let her go, especially since he was a little worried this woman might become Umbrella's target if she suddenly reported about this case and linked it to the mysterious company to Umbrella. Allen then walked closer to her.
"Alyssa, after this case is over I hope we can talk for a bit."
Alyssa, a little confused why Allen suddenly said that, just nodded in agreement.
"Okay, I actually also wanted to talk to you about this case."
"Good, then. But before that, we have to get out of this place alive first," Allen said while walking.
And when they were already in the lobby on the first floor of the building, Wesker and Enrico were seen fighting against Axe Man, while the others were shooting at a giant plant that had a huge spore inside its body. Inside that spore, it looked like there was a woman. The plant tried to attack some members who kept shooting at it.
"What the fuck is going on here?" Allen said, speechless at the chaos.
"Allen, you guys came too—be careful, this plant can absorb blood!" said a sniper unit member while shooting at the spore.
Bang!… Bang!… Bang!…
But of course, their bullets had no effect on the plant since its skin was quite thick, and it only made the plant even more aggressive.
"Why aren't you using incendiary grenades to burn the damn plant!" Allen shouted over the radio.
The ones shooting fell silent at Allen's words.
"Yeah, I guess Allen's right, let's throw all our incendiary grenades," said Barry, realizing Allen's idea was the right one. They hadn't thought of it until now.
Some who were still firing then started throwing grenades at the plant.
BOOM!
Explosion after explosion went off as the plant began to burn, writhing in pain.
"Yeah, it works, finally," said Joseph.
The plant, which once had impenetrable defenses, finally cracked as fire consumed its entire body.
After that, the sniper unit started shooting at Axe Man to help Wesker.
Bang!… Bang!…!
Each shot forced the man to step back under the sniper fire. Wesker, seeing the opening, punched Axe Man in the face with an angry expression, tearing off his mask. Alyssa, seeing the man's face, was shocked, as were the others, because the man was the same one they had seen in the old cabin.
"Holy shit, that guy is the old man from the cabin," said Enrico.
Alyssa, staring at the man's face, finally realized that it was Albert Lester.
"H-he's the owner of this hospital. So all this time he's the one behind these events. After turning his wife into a monster, he hunted people to feed her," Alyssa said in a trembling voice, her legs feeling weak.
But Allen caught Alyssa's body as she remembered her partner who had died because of this man. She could only cry and hug Allen.
"Hahaha, you will all become my wife's food! I'll kill you all!" he laughed while swinging his axe again at Wesker and the others.
"You son of a bitch, so you're the mastermind behind all this. Here, eat my bullet and go to hell!" Barry shouted while firing his magnum at Albert Lester.
No one seemed surprised at Barry's behavior in a situation like this, and the others also got angry and opened fire at Axe Man.
Allen then helped too, firing his last grenade round at Axe Man. He just wanted to go home quickly, so he had to end this.
The others, seeing Allen preparing to fire his grenade launcher—especially Wesker—ran for cover.
And soon after—
BOOM!
A loud explosion went off, and Albert Lester's body was blown to pieces.
Everyone was stunned seeing his body destroyed when Allen hit him with the grenade launcher.
"Hey Allen, nice work," Barry said as he approached. "I guess now the toughest problem's been taken care of thanks to you."
Everyone nodded in agreement. Then Wesker, checking his watch, said:
"Let's get out of here immediately. This place is about to blow."
Wesker spoke because they only had a few minutes left to escape before the explosives they planted went off.
And sure enough, not long after—
BOOM… BOOM… BOOM!
Explosion after explosion was heard from inside the building, and the foundation started collapsing, leveling the place to the ground.
When they got out, soon after, the sun began to rise on their side.
"It's a shame we couldn't capture that guy or get solid evidence for this case," said Enrico, a little disappointed they didn't secure any proof.
Then Allen walked toward his captain.
"Captain, don't worry. I think this diary is enough as evidence," he said, handing the diary over.
"Diary? Whose diary is this?" Enrico asked.
"This is Albert Lester's diary, the hospital owner—aka Axe Man. And in this diary, it started five years ago before the hospital was shut down. It all happened when he made contact with a mysterious company that provided him with drugs."
Hearing this, Enrico then read through the diary. He got a little emotional reading it but after that handed the evidence over to Albert Wesker.
It would be difficult for them to continue this case, since it had already become a state case, involving a mysterious and unidentified company.
On the other side, Wesker, overhearing their conversation, only raised an eyebrow.
A mysterious company… isn't it obvious this is Umbrella's doing? Well, I suppose this could serve as evidence I can sell later, once I escape from the company, Wesker thought to himself.
Nodding as he received the diary, Wesker then stored it safely.
"I'll speak to Chief Irons about this," Wesker said.
Then he glanced at Allen, who was surrounded by women.
That man can't be underestimated. It seems he has another plan by handing over this diary. But at least he won't interfere with my escape from Umbrella, and we'll still have time to talk after this, Wesker thought.
After that, Wesker contacted the RPD for helicopters to pick them up and reported that the mission was complete.
About thirty minutes later, not far from their position, two helicopters landed to retrieve them. Once everyone had boarded, they headed back to the RPD.
Everyone gathered for a health check by the medical team. Allen and Rebecca examined the injuries sustained by the S.T.A.R.S. team, while Allen discreetly administered an antivirus injection to all the team members, including Wesker.
Wesker noticed this but said nothing, pretending not to know about the injection or where Allen had obtained the antivirus. He figured it most likely came from Alex, Allen's sister.
Once everyone had been checked, the group gathered in the hall. Joseph then approached Allen.
"Hey Allen, are you free tomorrow? How about we celebrate with a few drinks for the success of our mission? I want to treat you."
"Oh… of course, I'd be happy to," Allen replied.
After chatting with the others, including Chris and Barry, Allen returned to his apartment with his women.
Ada decided to part ways after she was allowed to leave, having given her testimony about what happened and how she got lost in the Arklay Mountains.
"Thank you for everything, handsome. Make sure to keep your phone on—I might call you later," Ada said in a teasing tone before leaving in a taxi.
Allen then looked toward Alyssa.
"Do you want to come along?"
Alyssa simply nodded in agreement.
...
Meanwhile, Echo Six Team, after seeing the S.T.A.R.S. team leave the Arklay Mountains, went back to the collapsed building to collect any evidence and samples they could retrieve.
"I can't believe they managed to survive without a single casualty, considering how many monsters attacked them," said Crispin Jettingham, their team captain.
Sienna, seeing this, felt relieved that Allen had made it out of the place safely.
After gathering the evidence and samples they needed, they immediately returned.
Echo Six Team might not know about the government's project regarding the Super Soldier Serum, since only a few were aware of the truth. All this time, it was actually the government that wanted the T-Serum to be developed into a super soldier serum. However, up until now Umbrella had failed to produce what they wanted and instead had created bioweapons—problems that now had to be dealt with.
