Chapter 33 - The Second Floor

"Lydia, was it really alright to just leave them like that?" Evelynn asked as soon as they left the portal. She couldn't shake off the feeling that it was the wrong choice to just leave Matthew to handle their mess for them.

"Evelynn, it's totally fine! You heard him! He wanted to help,"' Lydia argued, clearly not worried.

Not feeling reassured, Evelynn gave her a skeptical look. "What if they get hurt while dealing with those men? Or what if they do something drastic and get in trouble afterwards?" Evelynn continued asking, still worried.

Though Matthew always gave her a reassuring feeling, she wasn't used to relying on others for help.

Matthew was one of the few people that had ever helped her, both in this life and in the past. And for the few people that had helped her on those rare occasions, it was always in situations where they, as bystanders, would feel they couldn't help but step in. Like Matthew at the banquet.
