Chapter 148 - Chapter 148

The battlefield seethed with chaos, dust, and roaring flame.

T'Challa sprinted across the scorched terrain, the Nano Gauntlet clutched under one arm, kinetic energy pulsing around his suit as he deflected blaster fire and carved a path through the Outriders. Explosions rocked the ground beside him, throwing up debris and flames. He dodged effortlessly, each movement precise, guided by experience and desperation. The Mad Titan's forces surged toward him from all sides. Proxima Midnight, leading a battalion of elite warriors, leaped down in front of him with a snarl, her spear aimed for his chest.

Before she could strike, a thin web shot from the air, yanking the Gauntlet from T'Challa's grasp. Spider-Man swooped in, catching it mid-air with a surprised yelp.

"Hey! I got it!" Peter shouted. "Whoa—nope! Not for long!"

An Outrider lunged at him, jaws open, claws flashing. Peter screamed, activating Instant Kill Mode. His suit's mechanical legs stabbed outward in a blur, impaling the beast mid-leap. Dozens more swarmed toward him, and the metal appendages moved with terrifying speed, slicing through the horde.

He swung high, landing on the shoulder of Giant-Man and racing across the massive expanse like a bridge. The wind howled in his ears as he darted past broken Chitauri ships lodged in the wreckage of the battlefield.

Blasts rained around him. "Why is it always me with the important stuff!?" he yelled, narrowly dodging a missile.

Suddenly, Valkyrie swept in on her pegasus, slashing through enemies closing in on Peter with a graceful arc of her sword.

"Hold on tight, bug boy!" she called out with a smirk, guiding her mount to create a momentary path for escape.

Peter stumbled but managed to toss the Gauntlet onto Valkyrie's saddle. She caught it with one hand and turned to fly, but a barrage of plasma fire forced her to peel away sharply, narrowly avoiding a direct hit.

The Gauntlet fell, tumbling through the air like a comet. It landed hard and rolled to a stop amidst rubble—until Wasp shrank down, picked it up in her tiny form, and zipped between enemies with high-speed acrobatics.

She dodged a spear thrust, leaped off a Chitauri's shoulder, and grew mid-flight to hand the Gauntlet to Pepper.

"Keep it moving!" Wasp yelled as she launched a micro-blast at pursuing Outriders.

Pepper nodded, boosting into the air in her Rescue suit, spiraling up and away as she dodged sniper shots from above. She fired back, using a split-second hover to obliterate a small squad of Chitauri.

Meanwhile, at the center of the battlefield, Wanda Maximoff hovered above Thanos, red energy flaring around her.

"You took everything from me," she whispered, voice trembling with rage. The wind around her swirled violently, picking up debris and shaking the ground beneath.

Thanos raised his blade, sneering with disdain. "I don't even know who you are."

"You will."

Red energy exploded from her hands. Thanos was lifted off the ground, armor groaning and peeling away under her telekinetic grip. His face twisted in pain for the first time. Bolts of chaos magic seared across his skin as she compressed the space around him, bending the battlefield to her wrath.

He screamed.

His forces hesitated. Even the Black Order stared in stunned silence as their master flailed in mid-air.

"You were never meant to win," Wanda hissed. "Not in this world... not in any."

"Rain fire!" Thanos bellowed to the sky, desperation coloring his voice.

Corvus Glaive hesitated on Sanctuary II's bridge. "But our troops—"

"Do it!!" Thanos roared.

High above, the ship's cannons turned downward.

The sky lit with destruction.

Blasts fell like meteors, incinerating friend and foe alike. The battlefield became a furnace. Wakandan warriors screamed. Sorcerers struggled to maintain their portals and barriers. Giant-Man collapsed under fire, shielding others with his body.

Doctor Strange raised both hands, conjuring a spinning mandala of defense above the main line, shielding dozens from certain death. Wong and the other Masters of the Mystic Arts followed suit, creating temporary shelters of light. The sheer number of blasts strained their magic.

Steve Rogers rolled behind broken armor plating. Debris rained around him. "Thor! Tony!" he shouted through the smoke.

Thor grunted, pinned beneath rubble, while Tony's suit flickered in and out of power as he pulled himself from the wreckage.

In another corner of the battlefield, Alexander raised his hand. A massive dome of shadows erupted around a cluster of wounded fighters, absorbing the impact of incoming blasts. The barrier trembled under the pressure, dark tendrils cracking with each impact.

Nortis and Noctis were a blur, pulling people to safety within the barrier. They guided children, shielded warriors, and dragged unconscious soldiers behind the protection.

"More to the left," Alexander grunted, his voice tight. Magic cracks glowed faintly along his arms and jawline—his limits nearing. Each time he extended the barrier, the energy backlash sent ripples of pain through his core.

He gritted his teeth, forcing the shadows to stretch further. His cloak curled as if resisting the overload, but he refused to let the barrier fall.

Wanda collapsed beside him, breathing heavily. "Thank you."

He nodded once, sweat running down his temples. "We're not done yet."

She looked up, eyes blazing. "Let's finish this."

In orbit, the Sanctuary II adjusted its trajectory to deliver a final volley.

Then—

BOOM!

A glowing streak slammed through the warship, piercing its core.

Carol Danvers.

Like a comet of pure energy, she tore through the command bridge, engines, and underbelly of the ship, leaving fire in her wake. Explosions rippled across its surface. The ship lurched violently.

She emerged from the other side, floating amidst the smoke, her body glowing like a miniature star. Her hair floated with cosmic static, and her gaze burned with focused fury.

On the battlefield, the bombardment ceased.

Steve looked up in awe. "About damn time," he muttered.

Carol descended like judgment incarnate. The Gauntlet lay on the ground, still smoldering.

Thanos saw her. His expression shifted—not fear, but calculation. His hand tightened on his double-bladed sword.

Carol landed with a sonic boom, the ground cracking beneath her feet. She looked at the Gauntlet, then at Thanos.

He stepped forward, eyes burning.

Behind him, the remnants of his army regrouped. Proxima, Cull, and hundreds of soldiers rallied for one final push.

Carol lifted her chin slightly. "You're not getting this gauntlet."

Thanos took another step forward. "We'll see."

The air thickened with tension.

The final clash was near.

To be continued.
