Chapter 4 - meeting nagin

By the time Kael turned nineteen, he had transformed into a man of many talents. His days were a whirlwind of learning—computer coding, hacking, mechanics, deciphering ancient glyphs, and even studying the history of rare plants native to his world. His family, amazed by his academic success and radiant health, noticed his growing silence and intense focus. His once cheerful nature had shifted to one of quiet determination, but they loved him all the same and took pride in his achievements.

Kael had also become deeply invested in his health. He experimented with nutrition, developing a regimen that not only enhanced his own physique but also improved his parents' vitality within months. They marveled at the changes, grateful for his insights even if they didn't fully understand his motivations.

"Kael, are you sure this will work?" his mother asked one evening, eyeing the vibrant assortment of alien vegetables and minerals he had arranged on the kitchen counter.

"Trust me, Mom. I've done my research. This will make us all feel stronger," Kael replied with a confident smile.

One day, while exploring a new social platform called Friznegram, Kael stumbled upon a mysterious group. Whether by luck or fate, he found it easily. The group shared ancient texts and arcane manuscripts—some authentic, others distorted or misleading. Kael devoured them all, searching for clues about forgotten practices and hidden knowledge. He began attempting to invoke entities like the Shadow Whisperers, Starbound Seers, and Veilwalkers, but each time, he failed. Whether it was incorrect phrasing or incomplete understanding of the rituals, the results were always silence.

"Why isn't it working?" Kael muttered in frustration after yet another failed attempt. "What am I missing?"

Undeterred, Kael turned his attention to learning lost languages and visiting old sanctums where he could listen to the resonant chants of the Arcane Order. For months, he frequented a particular sanctum, meditating on the way the Order's members intoned their chants. He meticulously analyzed each syllable, breaking down their patterns and rhythms. Over time, he developed a unique method of focusing on specific sounds, which opened a new dimension of understanding in his mental space.

Financially, Kael had reached a point of stability. With 10,000 Lira from his father and his own savings of 100,000 Sols, he began investing in what he remembered—cryptocurrencies, stocks, precious metals, and other commodities. He knew he couldn't warn the world about upcoming crises, but he could prepare himself to benefit from economic shifts and use his gains to help those in need. He also started a hidden channel sharing legendary tales and ancient knowledge, carefully ensuring his identity remained secret. He was determined to keep a low profile, both online and offline.

Kael's routine became a blend of sanctum visits, library research, running, meditation, and retreating to his mountain-side village to practice his Sigil Arts. Though he hadn't achieved any major breakthroughs, he wasn't discouraged. He knew the path he had chosen was filled with mysteries, and he was willing to take his time.

One day, while exploring the highlands of Veyra, Kael came across something extraordinary. Near a riverbank, he noticed a serpent with a luminous gem embedded in its forehead. Intrigued, he followed it, marveling at its speed and grace. His enhanced senses told him this was no ordinary creature. It moved with a precision and fluidity that defied logic, almost as if it were aware of him.

The serpent, however, seemed agitated. It turned and struck at Kael's hand, but to its surprise, its fangs couldn't pierce his skin. Kael's unusual durability left it stunned, and it slithered away, leaving behind a glowing sigil carved into the earth.

"What is this?" Kael wondered aloud, tracing the intricate patterns with his fingers. Intrigued, he decided to return to the spot for the next 21 days, offering water and specially prepared food as a gesture of goodwill.

On the final day, Kael addressed the serpent, unsure if it could understand him. "I'm leaving this village and heading to the city," he said. "I don't know if you'll follow, but you're welcome to come with me."

To his shock, the serpent appeared in his room that very night, causing him to freeze in surprise. The gem on its forehead gleamed with an otherworldly light, and Kael suddenly understood.

"You're a Seraphian," he whispered, awe filling his voice.

The serpent transformed into a humanoid figure—a beautiful, enigmatic woman with eyes that seemed to hold centuries of wisdom.

"I don't know my origins or my tribe," she said softly. "But I sense you are special."

They talked through the night, sharing stories and experiences. The Seraphian, abandoned by her kind, expressed her desire to accompany Kael. There was an undeniable connection between them, and they shared a brief, meaningful kiss. But Kael held back, deeply committed to his personal code of discipline.

"I can't go beyond this," Kael said gently. "But I'm honored to have you as a companion."

The Seraphian nodded, understanding his resolve. She transformed back into a serpent and coiled herself into his clothes, ready to journey with him.
