Chapter 2 - Chapter No.1: - Age Of Dreadbeasts

River Stone Base City

Government Hospital, Ward 369

"I've crossed over?"

Simon had an excited expression on his face. He was originally an ordinary office worker back on earth and had been slogging hard for three meal a day only to die from overworking.

However, as soon as he woke up.

He was bombarded with memories of this new world.

When the sudden flow of memories dies down, information about this new world that he crossed over and that he had reborn as teenager with same first name.

"Simon… Simon Reid" that was his new name and identity.

Since he had no attachment back on earth, as his parents back on earth passed away peace-fully, so it was beginning of a brand-new life.

But there was slight problem.

This world was extremely dangerous!

From the memories of this body, he understood that this parallel world was named earth too and geographical map was the same but names of the counties were different, every else was the same.

It was not until catastrophe knows as "Descend of Dreadbeasts", which swept the globe, setting the world on path of no return.

A large number of dimensional rifts opened on earth.

From it, magical energy gushed out enveloping the world, which lead to evolution of animals and plants on the planet.

Cute dogs became ferocious beasts that can bite one's head clean off, while little hamsters became bloodthirsty.

Flower that showed the beauty of world became man-eating vicious plants.

This was what happened with domestic animals.

Then what about animals that lived in the wild that followed the rules of the jungle.

They became Apocalyptic Dreadbeast that brought disaster everywhere it goes.

When everything fell, Disaster was inevitable.

These Dreadbeasts clawed into human habitats, and mankind tried to resist, but firearms could only kill low-level Dreadbeasts.

Even nuclear weapon that humans where so proud off, that show cased the military power of each country, now was unable to get desired effect.

The result when humanity greatest weapon didn't work on these Dreadbeast. Was total annihilation of countries left and right.

Mankind fell from the top of the food chain straight to the bottom where even struggling was futile.

Countless people perished!

Countless cities were destroyed!

Countless families were ripped apart!

Mankind's population plummeted to few hundred million.

"Why am I so unlucky to end up in such a dangerous world?" Simon felt suffocated.

Even though he was living in base city, it was still dangerous.

One need to know that Riverstone Base city that he lived in was just a medium-sized base city with population of three million.

If it was hit with slightly stronger Dreadbeasts the city's defenses would go down and all hell will break loose.

The body that he now possessed had been hospitalized due to serious injuries caused by a Dreadbeasts that broke into the base city.

"It looks like I am born into family that just declared bankruptcy last month, falling in debt of millions of dollars…"

Simon was in despair. It was not easy to get a chance to cross over, but for him to end in such a dangerous place on top of being broke, Simon had no word to describe the feeling in his heart and his situation.

"Forget it, past it past. Let's deal with it in the future"

Simon soon focused his attention on another thing: Astral Lords!

As the plants and animals evolved under effects of magical energy that human named Astral energy, humans who were part of the world, were no exception.

As very few lucky ones had also evolved under the effects of Astral energy and gained incredible abilities.

Earth manipulation, Metal control, Super speed, super human strength…

And these abilities are called Astral skill and those who had it were called…

Astral Lord!

The emerges of Astral Lords allowed the mankind to survive and fight against Dreadbeasts, with their help human quickly stood back on their legs and establish humanity heaven for survival.

In this new world of rampaging Dreadbeasts, the Astral lords stood guard for humanity and fought against Dreadbeast.

For their struggle and service, they were given special privileges as they slowly became the upper-echelons of the mankind.

"Astral Lord! Once I became one, forget about identity, status or even past crimes.

My life will turn in 180 degree that to for good"

A sharp light passed in Simon's eyes.

People with special power only existed in novels, comics, movies and TVs in his previous life.

But now that people existed in real and he also had the chance for becoming one like them.

"It's just so tempting! If I had an Astral skill, it would be awesome…"

The more he thought, the more he was excited.

But his excitement died seconds later because from his memories he understood that there was only to way to become an Astral Lord.

One is having natural talent for Astral skill.

As long as one reached the right age of 18, they could participate in Astral trial and awaken their Astral skills.

But there was small problem, very few people had natural talent for Astral skill, the chances of there being even one in a group of thousands was low.

So, the number of Astral lords were very low and in Riverstone city with its three-million population only had few thousand Astral Lords guarding it.

The other method was booked only for people who were born with silver-spoon in their month, that is Astral herb which is found in the nature guarded by dangerous Dreadbeasts.

Only the truly strong Astral lord could fight them and bring these herbs back.

Which made the herbs damn too expensive.

Simon sighted.

Even if his family was not bankrupt, he could not be able to afford it, because it was not just about money, one needed have strong connections to even have right to bet on it.

As the herb will disappear the moment it hits the market. As every one in the world is willing to give everything to become a god among men.

"My only hope is the Astral trial seven days later"

Even so the world was vastly different, majority of the people were still ordinary people who finished college, and continued live their normal life.

So, Bharat still retained the college entrance examination system, and the Astral trial was a months before the college entrance examination.

If found to have Astral skill their whole life will move in a trajectory that will be dramatically different from before.

One would not need to take entrance exam, no need to study hard only to work away their life but would be directly be hired by an Astral agency, and would lead a completely different life.

"Simon, are you awake?"

As Simon was deep in his thoughts, someone called for him pushing the door open.

Wearing a school uniform, a girl with a cute little face that he felt familiar too, walked in with bag of fruits.

Seeing whom Simon did not know how to react.

"Simon, what's matter with you? Are you feeling anything wrong should I call the doctor?"

The girl asked with concerned face.

"Nothing!"

Simon quickly shook his head, as his feeling were rather complicated.

As it was his first time seeing his sister… Olivia Reid.

New journey in the new world started.
