Michael Linton's recent call ended Amelia Linton's aimless daze. She brushed her hair out of her face with her hand and took a deep breath, quickly calming her irritated mood.
Amelia picked up the phone, hesitated while staring at it, but eventually dialed Fabian's number.
"Sorry! The number you are trying to reach is currently outside the service area..."
Just as she placed the phone to her ear, she heard the message that the other person's phone was outside the service area.
Without giving it much thought, Amelia dialed again, but heard the same message—the number was still outside the service area. She called several more times with the same result.
After repeatedly failing to reach Fabian, Amelia belatedly realized that he might have blacklisted her number. The thought of being blacklisted ignited a surge of anger within her.
She picked up the phone again and directly called the police.
