In all parallel worlds, the relationship between the Digital World and the human world is deeply intertwined. Among them, the third generation Digital World presents this relationship most explicitly.
Many years ago, in the human world, there was a research group called the Wild Bunch that focused on virtual lifeforms and created the first Digimon.
Thus, the Wild Bunch were considered the original gods of Digimon.
However, due to funding issues, the group was dissolved, and their research data flowed into the Digital World, evolving independently.
Through harsh competition, Digimon established their own deities—the Four Holy Beasts.
Their domain, located at the deepest part of the Digital World, is known as "Heaven," with four gates: East, South, West, and North.
The Southern Gate belongs to Zhuqiaomon.
Now, the land before the Southern Gate is crumbling.
A red demonic dragon and a black demon king are engaged in battle—one hideously terrifying, the other fiercely arrogant. It's hard to tell who is righteous and who is evil.
This all began because the black demon king—Fallen Hellbeast—killed Leomon, piercing him through the abdomen.
This enraged the dragon and its tamer, resulting in the birth of Megidramon.
This is a dragon with the "Digital Hazard" symbol, indicating its power could destroy the Digital World.
The only other Digimon known with this mark is Lucemon.
That alone shows the terrifying danger of such power.
At first, the Fallen Hellbeast was completely overpowered by Megidramon, until he absorbed data from three Ultimate-level Digimon, dramatically boosting his strength and overpowering Megidramon.
He smashed Megidramon's chest plate with a single kick, ending the digital crisis—for now.
In a twisted way, evil did some good.
The Fallen Hellbeast laughed maniacally, drunk on his power and thrilled to have shed his past weakness.
But just as he was about to shoot and finish off Megidramon, a holy knight emerged from the dragon—Gallantmon.
Dozens of rounds later, the Fallen Hellbeast was brought to his knees by Gallantmon.
He was barely clinging to life.
He sensed that Gallantmon had held back the final blow.
Why?
Gallantmon's lance was pointed at his chest—just as he had killed Leomon.
"I'm still weak... always have been," the Fallen Hellbeast thought.
"Go to hell!" Gallantmon raised his lance.
"Stop!" a voice cried out.
Bang! The lance pierced under the arm instead of the chest.
If Gallantmon hadn't adjusted at the last second, the Fallen Hellbeast would have been dead.
The voice had come from a little girl.
—Juri Katou.
The Fallen Hellbeast knew her name and that she was Leomon's tamer—the one he had just killed.
And that's why he was even more confused.
Why would the one who should hate him most save him?
He asked, "Why? I killed Leomon and took his power."
Juri cried, "Even if I destroy you, Leomon won't come back... I don't want more pain. Please, no more revenge. Please..."
Gallantmon, seeing this, had no reason to continue fighting. He reverted to Takato Matsuda and Guilmon.
The Fallen Hellbeast stood stunned, looking at the powerless girl, recalling his past.
Driven by instinct to become stronger... yet now spared by a weakling's mercy.
Strong or weak—could it really change?
"...What's happening to me?"
He couldn't understand, confused to the point of wanting to disappear.
He turned to leave.
But a figure blocked his way.
Juri, Takato, Guilmon, Rika, Renamon, Henry, Terriermon, Janyu, Kenta, and Guardromon all looked at the new arrival.
It was a tall blonde woman in full armor—black on one side, white on the other—with twelve wings, six angelic and six demonic.
The Fallen Hellbeast asked, "Angel or devil?"
"I'm an angel," the newcomer—Moss—replied.
He glanced at Kari Kamiya beside her and thought: another Digimon-tamer pair, but what did that matter to him?
"Move," he said.
Moss replied, "You're troubled. Tell me. I might help. I'm an angel. Angel. Angel."
Three times for emphasis.
The Fallen Hellbeast, expecting some cryptic lecture, asked, "Following instincts to grow strong, or seeking humans' approval—what's right?"
"You're misunderstanding," Moss said.
"You have rational thought. Instinct is just part of you, not your whole being. You can follow or reject it. You're free to choose. You can even do both."
"Because you have reason, you have will. You're not a people-pleaser. If a relationship makes you uncomfortable, your will cuts it off, seeking one that brings peace."
"What?" he blinked, confused.
"...Uneducated," Moss sighed.
He felt a wave of judgment.
Previously, he'd have tried to rip her apart. Now? No strength, no interest.
Plus... she had a point.
Moss rephrased: "Wanting strength and wanting friendship—both are valid. You can have both."
That, he understood.
But it was too late.
Become stronger? He didn't care anymore.
Make friends? Could someone like him even qualify?
"Want redemption?" Moss asked, sensing his sorrow via her Heart's Eye ability from Venusmon.
"I... how?" he asked.
"Resurrect the Digimon you absorbed."
"What?!" he trembled.
Juri shook.
Even the others were stunned.
"You're just an angel, not a god. And even gods couldn't do that," he said.
"If it were possible, I'd wish for it too."
"But something like that... don't say it if it's false hope."
Moss said, "I'm not 100% certain—but it's possible. Want to try?"
He paused, then asked, "...What do I do?"
She opened a Dimensional Gate. "Follow me."
He stepped through without hesitation.
"Can I go too?" Juri asked, hope lighting her face for the first time since Leomon's death.
"Of course," Moss nodded.
Others followed as well, with their Digimon partners.
They arrived in a flower field with a castle in the distance.
"This is?" Henry asked.
Moss explained, "A parallel world. Another Digital World."
She opened another gate. A blonde figure with wings flew in—HolyAngemon. From the other gate came—
"Taichi Yagami!"
They gasped. In their world, "Digimon Adventure" was just a famous anime.
Taichi—wearing a cape and looking more mature—appeared.
"No Agumon?" Takato asked.
They saw only Veemon and Gabumon.
"That was a long time ago," Veemon said.
He had evolved from Agumon, not V-mon.
"I'm not the one you know," said this alternate Taichi.
Moss had already informed him of the situation via telepathy.
Taichi scanned the Fallen Hellbeast.
"Leomon, Monkeymon, Inugamimon... you devoured many."
The Fallen Hellbeast asked, "Can they be separated?"
Taichi thought. "I've fought data-devouring Digimon. Beating them freed those trapped inside."
"But I'm different," the Fallen Hellbeast said. "I turned them into my flesh and blood."
Defeating him wouldn't restore them.
Everyone fell silent in despair.
Then Moss said: "The Ten Legendary Warriors."
Everyone turned.
"They can become Susanoomon, who excels in separating and restructuring data."
"I'll call them," HolyAngemon said.
Soon, Takuya, Koji, and the rest were summoned via Trailmon.
Three hours later, they arrived.
"Taichi!"
"Takuya!"
They already knew each other from a special episode.
"Let's catch up later—time to act."
The six humans summoned their Spirits—Flamon and the others joined the four digital warriors.
Ten Warriors unite!
Hyper-Spatial Evolution—
Susanoomon!
People were awed to see humans directly become Digimon.
"Can you separate the Digimon inside me?" the Fallen Hellbeast asked.
Susanoomon didn't speak. He just stared deeply.
Time passed.
Finally, he said, "I can purify your sins and restore those you absorbed—but it comes at a price."
"Anything!" the Fallen Hellbeast vowed. "Even my life!"
"Then give your life."
"Do it!" he said, prepared for death.
"Goodbye, Ai, Makoto…"
Light pierced his body.
Within that beam, the Digimon he had absorbed began to reappear—Leomon, Monkeymon, Inugamimon...
"I thought I was dead?" Leomon looked at his hands.
"Leomon!" Juri ran to him.
"Juri…" he gently patted her head and smiled. "I'm back."
