Freya finished from the hospital that evening, exhaustion tugging at her limbs as she drove home. The day had been long and emotionally draining, but her mind hadn't been on work all day.
As soon as she stepped into her house and dropped her bag by the door, she reached for her phone and decided to try Tessy's number once more. Just like the other times she had tried it earlier, it rang and rang with no answer. Her fingers tightened around the phone as she let out a frustrated sigh, her worry mounting with each unanswered call.
Tessy had never gone this long without returning her calls, and the silence was beginning to gnaw at her. Aside from Tessy, the only other contact she had was Trevor. She had been adamant about not reaching out to him. But at that point, her options had dwindled. She needed to know that Tessy was okay, and if that meant swallowing her pride and dialing Trevor's number, then so be it.
