Chapter 2 - The beginning.....or the end?

The sun rose. Its rays touched the city.

The shutters opened, carpets were beaten. Vendors opened their shops, and merchants shouted their products at the top of their lungs.

The scent of spices, mixed with pastries, created an exquisite and unique fragrance.

Children played on the roads leading to school.

"Quennver is really a great city to live in, isn't it, Shafy?"

"Yes, we are safe and happy here."

My friend Rouma and I were heading to high school.

My name is Shafy, and I am a Quenn-v. In Quennver, the city is surrounded by a magical wall, said to have been built by the Luminus.

It is believed that these great mages created this wall as a gift, in exchange for the sacrifice of a King-v.

Inside this wonderful city, life thrives with the influence of the port, and we live in peace. Agriculture and livestock farming are other pillars of the social economy. Industry also contributes to nearly 50% of the city's daily profits.

At school, we are taught many different and important subjects: Scienco-magic, Techno-magic, Econo-magic, and other fields that are closely connected to magic.

Indeed, magic is omnipresent in the air. It is not inside us but exists all around us.

The high school teaches us how to control it and use it in our respective fields.

I study Techno-magic, while Rouma is in Scienco-magic. Our classes both start at 10 a.m.

"I'm going to be late, Shafy. Go ahead without me, I have a few things to take care of."

"Alright, see you later."

"Ciao."

I waved at him and entered the school.

I headed towards the Techno domain and walked into my classroom.

"Fresh apples, beautiful fresh apples!"

BOOM!

"Aah… my head… it… it hurts…"

I opened my eyes. The air was scorching. Sparks swirled through burning debris.

What happened?

Outside, everything was burned. Bodies lay motionless.

It looked like a scene from a horror movie.

Shafy ran towards her home.

She created a flying overboard and held onto it. Despite her injuries, in no time, she arrived.

"NOOOOOOOO!"

A heartbreaking scream from inside her house paralyzed her.

She positioned herself on the kitchen window ledge. With a heavy heart and wide, terrified eyes, she witnessed a scene straight out of a nightmare.

Three men dressed in black, wearing red capes marked with a horned symbol, were levitating her father in the air.

"Where is she? Tell us, filthy mortal. Where is the Tech-Devils? Where is she?"

Her father, blood dripping from two deep wounds, laughed and said, "Kill me, you cowards! You will NEVER find her! NEVER! And tell Lucrifuro… she will kill him. She will drive her sword through his heart, and the devil will perish!"

Her father laughed even louder.

"WRETCH! YOUR TIME HAS COME!"

"I AM ONLY GETTING STA—"

In an instant, one of the men tossed Shafy's father into the air, another sliced him in half, and the third severed his head and gouged out his eyes.

"PAAAPAAA! NOOOO!"

Shafy felt a burning sensation throughout her body. She blacked out.

Her eyes rolled back, and her beautiful hazel irises turned red-gray.

Her possessed body moved with inhuman speed and pierced the stomach of the man holding her father's head.

He was sent flying, but Shafy met him midair and shredded him into pieces with her bare hands.

The other two, now alert, charged at her and hurled her against a wall.

She crashed violently and lost consciousness.

"Bye-bye, Tech-Devils."

Shafy's mother, who had been shielding her two younger brothers, stood up. With a wave of her hand, she began an incantation:

"Dark forces, spirits thirsting for blood, TAKE THE—"

Her head was severed before she could finish. But her lips kept moving.

"—DAMNED SOULS THAT YOUR MISTRESS OFFERS YOU. DRAG THEM INTO THE ABYSS AND FEAST ON THEIR DARKNESS."

A black hole suddenly opened. Horrifying creatures emerged, seizing the two men with force.

They began devouring them before dragging their remains into the void, which sealed itself instantly.

The two young boys, in tears, ran to their mother, but it was too late. She was already gone.

"What should we do now? Is it time?"

"It's time, brother."

They approached their unconscious sister, joined hands, and chanted:

"Oh, heart of the twins, celestial siblings, take us—body and soul—and grant our protector her due power. Unlock her eyes!"

A golden whirlwind engulfed the two boys, their mother, and the remnants of their father.

Their bodies melted into a liquid form, flowing into the young girl's mouth and directly into her heart.

"SHAFY!!!"
