Chapter 3 - Sorrow ....and Destruction

Shafy

Rouma, limping, reached the place where Shafy had fainted.

He was lost.

Everything had happened so fast.

From the moment they arrived until now, they had shown no mercy, no remorse.

"Shafy, come on… wake up."

From Rouma's hand, a strange mist was released.

It was ammonium salts in vapor form.

He placed his hand over the young girl's face.

She woke up about ten seconds later.

"Dad… Mom… where are you… wait for me."

"Shafy, calm down, it's me, Rouma. I haven't seen your parents. Get up, come on."

"No… they're dead. Killed by men in black."

Tears rolled down the girl's cheeks. She remembered the horrific scene, and she couldn't hold back her sobs. Her friend held her in his arms.

"They killed them… why? What did they do… Why…?"

Three minutes later, Shafy remembered:

"Where is she? Tell us, filthy mortal! Where is Tech-Devils? Where is she?"

"Bye-bye, Tech-Devils."

"It's me they're looking for!!!"

"What do you mean it's you they're looking for?"

Shafy pulled away from her friend's embrace to face him.

"Rouma, the men who were here were looking for a 'Tech-Devils.' My father said they would never find her. And when I fought them, before I fainted, they called me Tech-Devils."

Her friend tilted his head, looking thoughtful.

"What is a Tech-Devils?"

"I have no idea… And how did you even get here?"

Rouma smiled and reached into his pocket.

"I looked for you everywhere at school, but I couldn't find you. Luckily, you had your compass with you."

Rouma pulled out a compass, which started glowing toward Shafy.

"You're a genius!"

"I know."

"You arrogant fool."

Shafy laughed a little, then thought of something.

"Tell me, what's the situation outside?"

Rouma remained still for a moment, then finally sighed and lowered his head.

"Everyone is dead, Shafy. There's no one left in the city."

A bitter taste filled the young girl's throat.

What was happening today? Why so much suffering in a single day?

What had they done to deserve this?

"Where are the others… the criminals?"

"They're leaving the city. Right now, they must be at the city gates."

"I have an idea."

---

At the city gates, an entire army of men dressed in black, wearing red capes with horns on them, waited.

"Where is the girl we're looking for?"

One of the soldiers stepped forward.

"Captain, we couldn't find her. It's as if she doesn't exist."

"NONSENSE! SHE IS DEFINITELY HERE! THE MASTER SAID IT CLEARLY—SHE IS HERE!"

"HEY, IDIOT! ARE YOU LOOKING FOR ME?"

Shafy stood high above them on her flying hoverboard, glaring at all the men below.

"I AM TECH-DEVILS! I'M RIGHT HERE, YOU COWARDS! COME GET ME!"

"Interesting… Our target is handing herself over."

"Otherwise, an idiot like you would never have found me. Oh, by the way, tell your damn master that THE PROPHECY WILL COME TRUE!"

"INSOLENT GIRL! WATCH YOUR WORDS!"

"BLAH BLAH BLAH!"

Her plan was working perfectly. The captain grew furious and raised his arm.

"SOLDIERS, FIRE!!"

She dodged the gunfire coming from nowhere.

Right, left—nothing escaped her. To be safer, she activated her electrified magic shield.

As she moved, she pierced a soldier.

She defended herself as best as she could, blocking attacks until she reached the center of the enemy group.

"GO, ROUMA! GIVE IT EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT!"

The boy appeared behind the girl.

He had camouflaged himself in the sky with a light blue cloth identical to the color of the sky.

"I have an idea."

"What is it?"

"When I fought that soldier, after I cut him down, my hand burned… as if it was acid."

"Wait… Did you say acid? If that's the case, we can make a homemade bomb."

"How?"

"When calcium carbide is in contact with acid, it releases acetylene, a highly flammable gas."

"So…"

"DO IT, ROUMA!"

The boy snapped his fingers, and above the army, a burning rain fell.

"DIE, YOU PIECES OF TRASH!"

Shafy took the blood of the recently slain soldier and infused it directly into Rouma's chemical cloud.

Rouma then exhaled a jet of fire.

BOOM!
