Ellen POV
After dealing with a few ethereals, I still felt annoyed. I couldn't focus properly after seeing that guy.
I dodged a swipe from another one and soon swept its leg. The second it fell, I jumped up and stabbed it, twisting my scissors to end it.
As I watched it dissolve, I scowled as I recalled those eyes, it felt as if they could uncover secrets.
"Is there something wrong, Ellen?" I turned to look at my boss, Lycon. Who was looking at me with concern in his eye.
"It's nothing, just remembering something unpleasant." I muttered, behind me, an ethereal appeared out of nowhere.
But it was soon stopped by two flying bangboos. "That's no good, my dear, you should take an early leave."
Looking at the source of the voice, Alexandrina, or Rina as she likes to call herself, floated by my side.
"Should I make you something to drink to help you relax?" Before I could reply, Lycon coughed into his hand to catch our attention.
"I don't think that is necessary, Rina." Lycon then composed himself. "Do tell, what has caused you to be distracted?"
"Well, it was a few days ago when I was with my friends." I said while pulling out a lollipop.
"We were hanging out at a video store, but you know me."
"Yes, tired from dealing with school and work, you mustn't push yourself to do both." Rina placed her head on her open palm, looking concerned.
"It's fine, I just need some sweets." I muttered, and soon, the three of us turned to Corin, who gave out a small squeak.
"Corin, are you alright?" Rina asked, who then made her way to Corin's side.
"Y-yes, I-it's just that the s-saw blade seems to be loose." She said while spinning the blade, and it was indeed loose.
Corin then fixed just as quickly, and all the attention was back on me. "Y-you were saying?
"Right, while they were looking at tapes, a guy who was working there approached us, though, he was odd." I felt myself getting a bit sleepy, so I pulled out a lollipop and began to taste it.
"Odd, you say? My, it sounds as if you are showing interest." Rina giggled, but I only leaned away and looked at her oddly.
"No way, you know I don't have time for that." I replied. "And besides, he was dangerous."
"How so?" Lycon asked, his voice turning serious.
"The second I looked at him, it felt as if I was surrounded." I shuddered. "And there were many, many eyes on me."
"Query: Can you describe the appearance of the person you saw?" We all then turned to our temporary co-worker.
She wore the same attire as Rina, but the skirt reached her thighs, and the sleeves reached to her arms.
Besides that, the woman's hair was light blue, and she wore a pair of glasses. On her head were two metal ears.
Why were they there? I have no idea. Ah, I almost forgot, she's an android as well.
She had lines on her arms, while her leg joints were seen. If she had both of them hidden, she would have been seen as a human.
"Uh, the guy had dark blue hair, eyes grey, and bags under his eyes." Hearing this, the woman, her names Labyrinth by the way, walked in front of me.
"Query: Can you take me to where he was last seen?" I'll admit, I didn't expect her to just be blunt. Though I couldn't help but ask a question of my own.
"Is the guy I'm talking about the guy you're looking for?" Laybrinth said nothing at first, but soon, the sounds of footsteps were heard.
"Laybrinth, stand down." The android then stepped back, bowing to apologize.
"Apologies." Labyrinth said and raised her head. "But it is recommended that if we locate chief, he must be struggling…"
"No, we stay here, chief can handle himself. For now, we are to hold back the mania that is threatening to escape." Said the woman while looking up.
"She must be kept where she is, only until he comes, we wait." I'll admit, hearing her talk about the person they're keeping an eye on was crazy.
But… after seeing that happen, I guess it makes sense. "So, what's this chief like? I asked.
The woman who was accompanying Laybrinth smiles. "He is kind and a gentle man, wanting to help those in need, even if it means putting his life on the line."
Oh, great, a novel cliche, how original. "Though, I will admit, he can be… scary."
"H-how scary?" Corin asked, her grip on her weapon tightened.
"It's best if you do not make him mad." She said vaguely.
"Thank you for telling us. When can we expect to meet him?" Lycon asked, though I could tell he was showing caution.
"Soon, he'll be coming soon." Was all she said before holding what looked like a necklace.
[Oh ho, didn't expect to see the perspective of another person? Well, surprise, this'll happen more than once. For now, send them power stones to show support! Bye Bye!!]
