Synopsis
You would think being thrown into a world where death is nothing but common it would majorly suck. well yes, it would indeed suck. but you know what would be even worse? being thrown into an even worser version of the world where it's almost impossible to survive. Yeah, that's what happened to me. Never thought I would be thrown into the kaizo version of Rain World. I don't even have any powers. I'm just a simple Slugcat with pink fur... why did it have to be Pink... How have I not gone insane yet? (Basically, some random loser gets isekai'd into Inv's Campaign) Hey, author here, first of all no, this is not some translated story. This is MY story based off the game Rain World. The Story Mainly surrounds a special character you unlock in one of the games dlc's. If you've never played Rain World before then you'll definitely be a bit confused reading this. I highly encourage checking out the game to get a better idea on things if you do end up reading my story. you won't regret it! Trust! or you could just look up the wiki or some gameplay if you can't. No guarantee on consistent chapters. we'll see how that goes. (Also, I see literally no Rain World Fan Fiction on here which is surprising. The other one search result you get when looking up the game on here doesn't count since it used ai) Fanfiction section on web novel is full of translated stuff, it's kinda sad to see.

Chapter 1 - Just Another Cycle (1)

'Alright fuck this, I'm taking a break'

Once again, I find myself waking up in the shelter after plummeting to my death. How many times have I even tried making it to Five Pebbles? I close my eyes and put a finger on my forehead. After doing this the familiar screen I've seen plenty of times by now appears in my vision. Right now, what I see is the basic inner map showing me the locations I've already been to in this region.

Thank God I was given the ability to use the basic game mechanics from Rain World here. If I wasn't able to this would've made things even harder for me.

Taking a quick glance, I see I have 6 pips in total that are now empty again.

'Thankfully there's the 6 slime mold not too far from here I can eat. so, I don't really have to worry about food... now if only I could get past the damn Uber Hang with 5 Karma!'

Taking a look at my karma it's back to the karma 1 symbol. With the slime mold being able to respawn every cycle it's honestly not hard to get back to my max karma it's just...

For a second I remember myself trying to swing my way through the pitch darkness with a grapple worm in my paw. with barely being able to see what's in front of me and not knowing what surface I can even stick onto of course I was going to die. This part of Inv's Campaign was annoying but at least you saw it from a 2d perspective! Trying to do this shit with your own 2 eyes is basically impossible! I can only rinse and repeat trying to find the right path without dying.

'Ok... let's just see how bad it is'

Letting out a small sigh I swipe my paw to the left and a different screen appears. This screen only has words and numbers, but it at least helps track some things I would've definitely never been able to remember.

Food: 8746

Successful cycles: 1478

Deaths: 14739

Karma Points: -18753

With the normal Rain world mechanics, I also got this other screen that shows me how much food I've eaten, how many times I survived a cycle and how many times I died. it's basically the end screen results you would get after completing a campaign in the game but it's a much more dumbed down version of it. it doesn't show any passages or any creatures I've killed.

I'm also pretty sure it would tell you how much time you put in that run and how many times you rage quit the game, but those aren't there for some reason only leaving me with these 3 stats. I still have no idea what these karma points are though... I'm pretty sure that's what the ranking score would be, but I don't know why the name of it changed.

'Am I in debt or something? can't really expect me to get a bunch of points in a world where I can barely survive...'

Ignoring the karma points I look at my total deaths and remember the number. After repeating the somewhat long number to myself I open my eyes and look at the shelter wall where the shelter exit is. right next to the shelter exit I see a number I marked down a good while ago.

'12456... so I've died around 2000 times so far since getting here...'

To say I'm not surprised would be an understatement. Trying to get through any region has left me dying an insane number of times. especially trying to get through the karma gate from Chimney Canopy to The Wall. Those Damn Yeeks... I swear the next time I see one I'm kicking it with all my strength.

Not wanting to waste any more time thinking about how Yeeks won't jump when you want them to, I exit out the shelter. Grabbing onto the pole right after exiting I slide down and land on the ground.

'I'll just go and eat the 6 slime mold and come back here and relax for a bit'

Navigating my way through this area with ease I stop myself after crawling out of a small space and look up in the distance.

"a Dropwig..." I mutter to myself. hearing my voice, it has grown extremely hoarse.

Probably doesn't help that I barely ever talk out loud anymore. When's the last time I've even communicated with another intelligent being? The fact I haven't gone insane yet is a miracle...

Or maybe I already am insane. I mean... dying at first was extremely terrifying but after dying so many times you sort of get used to it. Now it's nothing new to me. Pretty sure sane people wouldn't think like that.

'Oh, you died? well that sucks, I'll see ya next cycle'

Shaking my head I try to focus and not let these thoughts distract me. I look up and still see the dropwig hasn't moved yet.

'Oh, hey a blue fruit. don't mind if I do'

Seeing a blue fruit lying directly underneath where the dropwig is I start aiming upwards with a piece of sharp rebar I found lying on the ground while moving here.

You want to know the one cool thing not being limited by Rain World mechanics?

I throw the spear with practiced ease and see it soar right towards the Dropwig hanging on the ceiling.

THUNK*

That I can throw upwards without having to do a damn flip.

I watch as the spear hits the dropwig making it fall down from the ceiling it was hanging onto. Running up to it I quickly pull the spear out and stab it just in case the first hit didn't kill it.

SCREEE*

The dropwig lets out a piercing screech when I stab it. Of course, this is nothing new to me, so I just ignore the loud noise and stab it again to shut it up.

THUNK*

After stabbing it again it falls silent, and I can see its many legs start curling up. seeing this I pull the spear out and let out a sigh of relief. good thing it didn't dodge this time or that would've been annoying.

With the satisfaction of killing the dropwig i pick up the blue fruit it tried to lure me with and start moving forward to where the slime mold is. After eating the blue fruit, I carefully drop down another ledge and make my way through the rot infested corridor making sure not to die to the proto rot covering certain parts of the ground.

I arrive at the end of the corridor and make my way through the pipe leading into the entrance of the Uber Hang. Peaking my head out of the exit of the pipe and making sure there are no threats, I exit and land on the ground.

'So good so far. This cycle might not be so bad Afterall'
