Chapter 138 - Chapter 137 Sister Finally Found You

Chapter 137 Sister Finally Found You

"Xiao Feng~"

The faint call from the blood-eyed mask echoed in his mind—like a ghost's lament from the endless underworld, or the ethereal whisper of a celestial maiden drifting through the mist.

The voice felt both distant and near, sending an involuntary shiver down Xia Feng's spine. Instinctively, he flung the mask away.

Thud—

The mask, which even the blood beast couldn't devour, fell silently to the floor. The crimson glow in its eyes flickered briefly before fading, deepening the gloom in the dimly lit room.

"What the hell was that?" Xia Feng muttered, suspicion gnawing at him. The voice from the mask had been eerily familiar—it sounded like Sister Yi's voice.

Wait… who was Sister Yi again? He pressed a hand to his forehead, struggling to recall. Then it came back to him—when He Jianzhu had touched his forehead earlier, a girl's gentle smile had surfaced in his memories.

From what he could piece together, she had been with him since before he awakened his past-life memories, back when he was still a simple-minded child. They had relied on each other since childhood.

That was about fourteen years ago.

But why was her voice coming from this mask? Xia Feng narrowed his dark eyes, staring thoughtfully at the eerie object on the ground.

Was she sealed inside it? He quickly dismissed the idea. Unlikely. This mask was standard-issue for Burning Heaven Temple members—everyone had one. This seemed more like…

Sister Yi had left her voice in the mask.

And possibly in all of them.

If that were true, then Sister Yi might be a high-ranking official within the Burning Heaven Temple.

And this voice… Xia Feng had a hunch that he was the only one who could hear it. If every member heard it upon receiving their mask, that would be far too bizarre.

The possibility nagged at him. Despite his reservations, curiosity won out. He wanted to know more about this mysterious girl. In his fragmented memories, Sister Yi had been a kind and gentle older sister.

Taking a deep breath, he bent down, picked up the mask, and pressed it against his face.

"Hehehe~ My dear brother, sister finally found you~~~"

The clear female voice returned, but this time, it carried an unsettling edge—like a vengeful spirit crawling up his back, her icy lips brushing against his ear as she whispered with a low, chilling laugh.

"Huh? Is the secret seal still blocking me?"

"I can sense you… but why can't I locate you?"

"Xiao Feng~ Where are you~~ Where are you~~~"

"Thud—"

Xia Feng hurled the mask away, his face stiff. "Yeah… no thanks."

He had originally considered seeking out this mysterious girl to recover more of his memories. Now? Absolutely not.

Just hearing her voice was enough to tell him how terrifying and unhinged she was.

Better to avoid contact entirely. Xia Feng shook his head. "Focus on the mission."

Guided by instinct, he walked to the window and pulled back the curtains. Beyond the glass stretched an endless sea of green flowers.

At its center stood a European-style castle made of semi-transparent glass, nestled within the floral expanse like something out of a fairy tale.

According to Miss Jianzhu's candlelight sensing, the holy solution was somewhere near that castle.

To pinpoint it, he'd need to get closer.

"Bzzt—"

Suddenly, an electronic screen flickered to life beside the bed. A man's impatient voice crackled through:

"Granny Ding, I heard you've captured Xia Feng? Listen—don't you dare feed him on your own. He's someone the big shot wants! Hurry up, change his clothes and send him in."

"You hear me?!"

"On my way," Xia Feng replied, mimicking Granny Ding's voice while scanning the room. Near the electronic screen was a handle—likely the door to the inner chamber.

In the corner closet hung several white uniforms.

He quickly changed into one, kicked the blood-eyed mask under the bed, straightened his clothes, and turned the handle.

The door opened to reveal a stark white corridor. Doors lined both sides, each sliding open as men and women in identical white uniforms filed out. Most were women, ranging from as young as eight to as old as forty-eight.

They all turned right.

Xia Feng blended into the crowd, moving with them until they reached a towering door. Beyond it lay utter darkness.

Then, lights flickered on one by one, illuminating a hundred-meter-long hallway.

Rows of hibernation pods lined both sides, each marked with bright red numbers.

Inside the pods, submerged in dark green preservation fluid, were naked human bodies—each mutilated in some way. Some had severed limbs, reduced to torsos; others bore horrific burns, their faces barely recognizable. None were whole.

Their eyes were closed, suspended in silent slumber as the dark green liquid worked to mend their injuries.

Xia Feng noticed something else—among the humans were a few evil beasts.

As he passed Pod No. 41, he glanced up.

The creature inside was humanoid but stood two meters tall. Naked and hunched, its body was a mass of bulging red muscle. Pale, tangled hair hung like straw over its shoulders, and its round red eyes stared vacantly ahead. It looked lifeless—until the scorpion-like white spikes protruding from the back of its head twitched violently, slamming against the pod's glass.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

No one in the crowd reacted. Xia Feng's gaze dropped to the silver plaque beneath the pod:

[White Scorpion]

Rank: Two-Eye

Abilities: Extreme strength, light-sensitive. Even post-mortem, its bio-tentacles will attack light sources. Highly venomous.

[Remarks: When mating with humans, the biological tentacles secrete love-inducing compounds that intensely stimulate desire.]

Reading the description, Xia Feng frowned. A disturbing thought crossed his mind—This place couldn't actually be that depraved, could it?

Just then, someone tapped his shoulder. He turned calmly to face a gaunt woman. Her voice was flat as she said:

"You're new here?"

"You can tell?" Xia Feng blinked.

"It's obvious." The woman glanced at the others shuffling past them. "After enduring this place long enough, you become like them. You stick out."

Xia Feng followed her gaze and realized what she meant—everyone around them moved with mechanical precision, their faces utterly blank. No matter what happened nearby, not a flicker of emotion crossed their features.

"You carry Wen Zaiye's aura," the woman said abruptly. "Do you know him?"

"Wen Zaiye?"

Xia Feng remembered the name instantly. The man had been wanted by the Black Moon Church before fleeing into the Mijia Disaster Zone near Far-River Town. It was because of his lingering around that Mu Qingtong had eventually discovered the First Harmony Orphanage.

After a pause, he nodded. "I know of him. Why?"

The woman's voice tightened. "Is he... still alive?"
