Chapter 4 - The Shadow in the Night

Chapter 4: The Shadow in the Night

Lyrien walked back to his dormitory, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. He had made great progress in his training, and Professor Everwood was impressed.

As he approached the dormitory, Lyrien noticed a figure lurking in the shadows. The figure was tall and imposing, with piercing eyes that seemed to bore into Lyrien's soul.

Lyrien's instincts told him to be cautious, but he didn't feel any immediate danger. He approached the figure, his hand on the hilt of his dagger.

"Who are you?" Lyrien demanded, trying to keep his voice steady.

The figure stepped forward, revealing a tall, muscular man with piercing blue eyes. He was dressed in black, with a silver pin on his lapel that glinted in the moonlight.

"My name is Kael," the man said, his voice low and gravelly. "I'm here to watch you, Lyrien."

Lyrien's eyes narrowed. "Watch me? Why?"

Kael smiled, revealing sharp teeth. "You have potential, Lyrien. Great potential. And I'm here to make sure you realize it."

Lyrien felt a shiver run down his spine. There was something unsettling about Kael, something that didn't quite add up.

"What do you mean?" Lyrien asked, trying to keep his voice neutral.

Kael leaned in, his eyes glinting with intensity. "I mean that you're not just any ordinary student, Lyrien. You're special. And I'm here to help you unlock your true potential."

Lyrien felt a surge of skepticism. What did Kael mean? And why was he being so secretive?

As Lyrien stood there, trying to make sense of Kael's words, he felt a strange sensation in the air. It was as if the shadows themselves were moving, twisting and writhing like living things.

Lyrien's eyes widened as he realized that Kael was not just any ordinary person. He was something more. Something darker.
