Chapter 5: The Mysterious Message
Lyrien couldn't shake off the feeling that Kael was hiding something. The way he moved, the way he spoke, it all seemed so... deliberate.
As Lyrien walked back to his dormitory, he noticed a piece of paper on the ground. He picked it up, expecting it to be a discarded note or a flyer. But instead, he saw a message scrawled in hasty handwriting:
"Meet me in the old windmill on the outskirts of town at midnight. Come alone."
Lyrien's heart skipped a beat as he read the message. Who could have written this? And what did they want with him?
He looked around, but there was no one in sight. The message seemed to have come out of nowhere.
Lyrien felt a shiver run down his spine. He didn't know what to do. Part of him wanted to ignore the message and go to bed. But another part of him was curious. Who was behind this mysterious message?
As he stood there, weighing his options, Lyrien heard a faint rustling in the bushes. He turned to see Arin emerging from the shadows.
"Hey, Lyrien! What's going on?" Arin asked, his eyes scanning the area.
Lyrien hesitated, unsure whether to share the message with Arin. But something about his friend's curious expression put him at ease.
"I found this message," Lyrien said, handing Arin the piece of paper.
Arin's eyes widened as he read the message. "Whoa, this is serious! Do you think it's a trap?"
Lyrien shrugged. "I don't know. But I feel like I have to check it out."
Arin nodded. "I'm coming with you."
Lyrien smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks, Arin. I don't know what I'd do without you."
As they walked back to their dormitory, Lyrien couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. He glanced around, but there was no one in sight.
Little did Lyrien know, they were indeed being watched. Kael was lurking in the shadows, his eyes fixed intently on Lyrien.
