Chapter 1199: The Loneliness of Being Invincible
Ever since rescuing Larfuria, the orcs and mechanical soldiers seemed to have vanished without a trace, and we encountered none along the way.
"If I may ask, how did you find this place, Mr. Nan Gong?"
"With this."
Eiji walked ahead, waving his phone.
"Greetings, Your Highness the Princess. My name is Mogwai."
"Has Tsushima Island already developed such advanced technology?"
Larfuria marveled endlessly.
"Kekekeke."
Mogwai chuckled without elaborating.
On the entire Tsushima Island, there was only one AI of his caliber, while there were many lower-level AIs—this point didn't need further explanation.
"Did you start looking for us because you discovered the shikigami left by Kiriya?"
"No, I was woken up from bed by Sayaka."
"Ara, ma!"
The princess immediately covered her face, her cheeks slightly flushed, looking quite embarrassed.
"Did I interrupt something good? I'm truly sorry!"
"Good that you know. You'll have to make it up to me properly later!"
Eiji's deadpan expression made it impossible to tell whether he was joking or not.
"Hehe, certainly."
The princess chuckled lightly and agreed very frankly.
Did she not even ask how she was supposed to make it up to him?
Eiji glanced sideways at her, only to see her beaming smile, completely unfazed.
This princess wasn't very fun to tease.
Someone like Sayaka, who would suddenly scream or burst into a roar—now that was interesting.
Eiji sighed, feeling somewhat disheartened.
"Why didn't he ask how to make it up?"
Larfuria was also quite frustrated.
This man was clearly not the herbivorous type; she had been expecting him to say something shocking. How did it end so abruptly?
Since he didn't ask, Larfuria couldn't very well bring it up herself, or she'd seem too eager.
Both mischief-makers clearly saw the other as the target of their teasing.
When the other's reaction wasn't as entertaining as expected, the fun obviously couldn't continue.
"Stop right there!"
At that moment, a figure appeared, breaking the silence between the two.
Beatrice, dressed in mercenary gear, appeared before them with a gloomy expression.
"Where do you think you're going, Your Highness the Princess?"
"As you can see, I'm taking a stroll around the island."
Larfuria tilted her head and replied with a playful smile.
"Don't joke with me, you bitch!"
No longer caring about any semblance of decorum, Beatrice cursed angrily.
"You surrendered to me just to buy time, didn't you? Now that reinforcements have arrived, you plan to escape, right!"
"You've already figured it out, haven't you?"
Larfuria's expression remained unchanged, as if completely unprovoked.
"Get back now! XDA-3!"
Beatrice was thoroughly enraged by her reaction and pulled out the controller again.
Immediately, a mock angel shot out from behind her at extreme speed!
Its speed was like a meteor!
Even eyes enhanced with spiritual power couldn't capture its incredibly swift movement!
Larfuria's expression instantly tightened.
Her weapons had been confiscated, and now she had no way to deal with an enemy of the mock angel's caliber.
However.
"Isn't this guy enough?"
She cast a subtle glance at the young man before her.
Though he appeared ordinary on the surface, he radiated an intensely unfathomable aura!
The next moment.
Facing the diving Mock Angel, Eiji stepped forward.
Just as the angel's claws were about to touch him, he shifted his steps with split-second timing, evading the attack by a hair's breadth.
Immediately after, he raised his hand.
Like the Five-Finger Mountain descending from the heavens, the Mock Angel let out a panicked shriek before he grabbed its mask and slammed it onto the ground with a single palm!
"Gah!"
The ground instantly shattered into pieces.
The mask broke apart like shards of glass, and the modified girl lost consciousness with an expression of utter disbelief.
"...Huh?"
Beatrice froze.
It took her a long moment to squeeze out a stunned sound from her throat.
The Mock Angel was defeated?
By an unknown nobody?
Defeated in a single move?
What was going on?
Why did it feel so familiar?
Didn't the Mock Angel lose in the exact same way last time?
"Grr... Numbers 4, 5, and 6!"
Though shaken by the unexpected turn of events, Beatrice reacted swiftly.
Gritting her silver teeth, she summoned the remaining Mock Angels all at once!
Almost instantly, three streaks of light shot into the sky, diving toward Eiji in a triangular formation!
"Hmph."
Eiji let out a contemptuous snort.
He took another step forward, and in the blink of an eye, he seized the first Mock Angel's head and casually hurled it at the second.
Immediately after, the third one appeared before him, only to be slapped against the wall.
The exchange lasted mere moments.
Though it hadn't produced the slightest sound, Eiji's speed far surpassed the limits of human vision, making the Mock Angels' swift movements seem like slow motion in comparison!
And that wasn't all.
"...All the masks were shattered?"
It wasn't until the battle ended that Larfuria snapped back to reality, inhaling sharply in shock.
Upon closer inspection.
In that brief moment of contact, the masks of all three Mock Angels had been completely shattered, leaving every one of them unconscious!
The gap in strength was overwhelmingly vast, to the point where the Mock Angels couldn't even defend themselves—they were instantly defeated upon contact!
"Boring opponents."
Eiji sighed deeply as he looked up.
"There's a loneliness that comes with being invincible."
"H-How can this be?!"
Beatrice's eyes widened, her body trembling with rage.
Losing to the Fourth True Ancestor was one thing, but why couldn't she even defeat a random passerby?
Weren't these Mock Angels supposed to be incredibly powerful? Why had they become so weak?
It didn't make sense! It made no sense at all!
She was supposed to obtain the true power of an angel, sweep across the world, and stand as an equal to the True Ancestors—so why had things turned out like this?
"It seems your ambitions have been completely shattered."
Larfuria appeared before Beatrice.
Her face wore a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
"You—!"
Beatrice raised her venomous gaze.
If I can't deal with him, I can still deal with you!
"Pierce her, Snake Red!"
"Clang—!"
The crimson serpent spear struck with cunning precision.
But the seemingly defenseless princess suddenly found a transparent shield materializing before her.
"A simulated holy shield, why...?!"
"You can't possibly think a mere vampire like you can insult me so casually, can you?"
Laphria's body radiated a dazzling azure glow, blazing like flames.
"This level of spiritual power... Could it be you've turned yourself into a spirit furnace?!"
Watching the burning spiritual flames, Beatrice's eyes widened instantly, leaving only sheer terror on her face.
In this world of Strike the Blood, there exists a species known as "Spirits."
But the spirits here differ greatly from those in other worlds. These spirits, much like Familiar Beasts, are energy aggregates from another dimension. The distinction lies in that Familiar Beasts are formed from magical power, while spirits are composed of spiritual power.
Moreover, unlike Familiar Beasts, spirits possess almost no sense of self.
