V2/Chapter 79: Kosmo's most unforgettable day.
Although Ai Yue has always used derogatory terms such as "rabble" and "rotten fish" to describe the Herrschers of Domination, as someone who has witnessed nine major Honkai disasters, Mobius does not dare to underestimate these individuals easily.
She knew very well that Ai Yue possessed wisdom beyond that of humans, a global perspective, and some incredible mysterious abilities, which gave him the confidence to belittle the Herrschers of Domination. However, as humans, 10,000 Herrschers, even if each of them was only as strong as an average second-generation fusion warrior, would still be a terrifying force when gathered together.
In Mobius's opinion, even if Kevin and the others were wearing armor and wielding weapons enhanced by the Herrscher Cores, it would be difficult for them to confront the Herrschers of Domination head-on. After all, even if they could temporarily control the Herrscher Cores of six Herrschers, the Herrschers of Domination could utilize the powers of the first nine Herrschers.
Even if each of them could only exert a fraction of their strength, when combined, they might achieve unexpected results.
Even Ai Yue had said that they might be able to recreate the glory of the former Herrschers.
Therefore, in Mobius's vision, even if the fusion warriors weren't suppressed, they would at least be evenly matched at the start.
But the scene before Mobius made her doubt her assumptions.
Because this group of individuals, who were being utterly crushed by Kevin and his team, crying out in desperation, and unable to mount an effective counterattack, seemed, perhaps, as if, maybe... they really could be described as a mob.
Even if we set aside the other fusion warriors for a moment and just look at Kevin alone, he could kill three to five Herrschers of Domination with a single swing of his sword. The combined efficiency of the six fusion warriors was akin to a farmer harvesting wheat.
But this was unreasonable.
How could an organization capable of gathering members from all over the world within ten hours, with impeccable mobility and cohesion, fall apart so easily?
In just a few minutes, the number of Herrschers of Domination had decreased by more than 500. At this rate, the Herrschers of Domination would be wiped out by Kevin and the others in less than two hours. Not only would they fail to threaten Ai Yue, but they might not even reach Mobius and Vill-V.
Seeing things go so smoothly, Mobius felt uneasy, as if she had overlooked something.
Thinking this, she couldn't help but turn to the taciturn nun standing at the back: "Aponia, can you detect anything unusual about the Herrschers of Domination?"
"What do you mean, Ms. Mobius?"
Aponia tilted her head slightly and looked at her. "So far, apart from confirming that their spirits are indeed linked, I haven't found any other abnormalities."
Today, Aponia was also equipped with her own armor, part of the "Innate Five Tai" series, specifically the third in the sequence, "Tai Su."
Since Aponia had no need for close combat, it would be more accurate to say that Ai Yue had equipped her with a mobile fortress rather than a set of armor.
Like Dr. Mei, Dystopia, and others who were relatively fragile, Aponia's armor focused on defense. When its "Iron Curtain Mode" was fully activated, the armor's external defense plates would float around Aponia in a cross formation, protecting her from all attacks.
Moreover, due to Aponia's immense mental power, she could use the "mental power conversion device" installed on the armor to transform intangible mental energy into a tangible barrier, further enhancing the armor's already formidable defensive capabilities.
It could be said that unless Aponia suddenly became desperate and decided to sleep forever within the range of the Herrscher of Thunder and the Herrscher of Fire, no known attack on Earth could effectively harm her. Even the powers of electromagnetic force and molecular thermal motion couldn't break through this layer of protection in a short time. As for spiritual attacks... those didn't require armored defense.
Of course, Ai Yue didn't just create a turtle shell for Aponia. In addition to its defensive capabilities, the armor could amplify and strengthen Aponia's mental power. However, compared to her innate strength, this amplification was minimal.
After all, reality isn't an online game, and not all values at different levels can enjoy the same percentage enhancement.
Even so, Mobius didn't believe that the Herrschers of Domination, even with their spirits linked, could compete with Aponia. Although Aponia couldn't compare to Ai Yue, after becoming a fusion warrior, she had become a monster that surpassed the limits of human understanding.
Since Aponia hadn't detected any issues, there likely weren't any.
At the same time, Vill-V also sounded puzzled: "Wait, the situation seems to have changed..."
"What's wrong?"
Mobius turned her attention to the battlefield, and her frown soon relaxed. "I knew it. I was wondering why they were so weak."
After paying the price of nearly a thousand individuals, the Herrschers of Domination finally regrouped and began to counterattack in a large-scale, organized manner.
Individuals who had mastered some of the power of the Herrscher of Death were sent to hold back Kosma. Most of them had extremely strong regeneration abilities, which countered Kosma's toxins. Those who had mastered the power of the Herrscher of Void were tasked with guarding against Sakura's assassinations in the shadows. Although Sakura was incredibly fast, she was still greatly hindered by spatial confinement.
The storm caused by Ato was also quelled by Herrschers of Domination who possessed similar powers. They could even gather together to resist the projectiles controlled by Dystopia's telekinesis. While Elysia's arrows were elusive, they couldn't be directly sent into the Herrschers' bodies through portals. Therefore, the Herrschers relied on a protection system constructed by the power of the Herrscher of Reason and ice armor cast by the Herrscher of Ice to barely withstand the attacks.
Everyone else joined in the siege on Kevin—no surprise there, as Kevin was the kind of warrior who required this level of opposition.
Within just a few minutes, the situation reversed again. After finding targeted ways to counter the fusion warriors, the damage they inflicted began to decrease. However, Kevin and the others quickly adjusted their strategy. They stopped fighting individually and began to form an offensive formation with Kevin at its core.
Ato no longer stirred up storms but relied on the high mobility granted by the Herrscher of Wind's core to disrupt the Herrscher's formation. Dystopia stopped focusing on kills and instead used her telekinesis to help Kevin deflect damage and prevent him from being overwhelmed.
Sakura and Elysia also began to cooperate, using their respective strengths to snipe high-threat targets. Even with Herrschers of Domination responsible for defense, it was difficult to resist the combined assault of a top archer and assassin, especially when they wielded the powers of space and electromagnetic force. Although their attacks were less frequent, each one was highly effective.
As for Kosma, he was the farthest from Kevin because his threat was equally significant. By keeping him at a distance, the Herrschers of Domination couldn't concentrate their power and energy in one place, effectively restraining him.
However, even though Kevin and the others adapted quickly, they couldn't completely reverse the situation. They could only maintain their initial front line and prevent retreat, resulting in a temporary stalemate.
Of course, while it was a stalemate, the Herrschers of Domination had only temporarily halted the fusion warriors' advance. At most, they reduced Kevin's kills from five to one per sword strike. Although this slowed the Fusion Warriors' progress, it couldn't change the ultimate outcome.
If the Herrschers of Domination could wait until the energy in the Herrscher Cores was exhausted and still retain enough strength, they might have a chance to counterattack.
Unfortunately, Vill-V had no intention of giving them that opportunity.
"It's finally our turn, right?"
Looking at the stalemate before her, Vill-V maintained a calm tone, but a hint of excitement was evident in her voice. "Mobius, are you still going to wait?"
"No more waiting."
Mobius set aside her doubts for the moment and stepped forward. "If Kevin gets too carried away, we won't be able to collect any experimental data."
Vill-V followed behind her but suddenly noticed something strange under Mobius's feet: "Wait, Mobius... why is your shadow so big?"
From her perspective, she could clearly see that the shadow beneath Mobius's feet was spreading in all directions. As the shadow expanded, green electric sparks began to leap within it.
After Mobius and Vill-V had distanced themselves from each other, Mobius turned around and gave a mysterious smile: "Of course, it's because this isn't actually a shadow."
As Mobius finished speaking, the shadow instantly expanded and surged, turning into a tangible black tide that completely engulfed her.
Vill-V seemed to realize something, and a trace of astonishment flashed in her eyes: "No way, has Ai Yue already achieved this?"
A moment later, a black and green snake-like body suddenly rushed out from the shadows and slithered toward the Herrscher Legion.
Of course, describing it as a snake isn't entirely accurate, because the front half of its body still maintains a humanoid appearance, and it even holds a massive scepter in its hand.
At the top of the scepter rests an ice-blue core.
"Hey, what is this?"
Dystopia was the first to notice the movement and was horrified. "Kosma, be careful! There's a very strange Honkai beast heading toward you!"
"Don't be nervous, that should be Mobius's new research results."
Elysia noticed the scene as well. "Don't worry too much, it seems Mobius should still be conscious... right?"
"I'm fully conscious, don't worry about me accidentally killing you all."
Mobius's voice suddenly joined the fusion warriors' communication channel. "Kevin, move to the left."
Kevin didn't say anything but followed Mobius's instructions and rushed to the left. The Herrscher of Domination on his right saw the opening in Kevin's back and tried to launch a sneak attack, but at that moment, he heard a warning from his companion.
The last thing he saw before his life ended was a black-green light shooting toward him from a distance.
The black half-human, half-snake giant stood upright, and the dark green light that had carved deep grooves into the ground moments earlier was fired from its mouth.
With just this one strike, more than a hundred Herrschers of Domination were reduced to ashes.
"What is this?!"
Even Kosma couldn't help but exclaim in amazement. After all, Mobius's current massive size was visible even to him at the other end of the formation. "Oh, that's so cool!"
"Hmph, bio-armor, kid."
Mobius made a proud sound. "A completely new form achieved through the re-editing and abnormal expression of the fusion warrior's genetic potential... Tsk!"
Before she could finish her sentence, a Herrscher attacked her. Feeling annoyed, Mobius immediately raised her scepter and fired countless ice spikes to bury the attacker.
However, she no longer had the interest to show off and instead slid toward the Herrscher Legion again: "Let's clean up these annoying guys first."
"I agree!"
Vill-V's voice came from above. "So everyone, get out of the way, there's a big bomb coming!"
Mobius looked up and saw Vill-V hovering in the sky with a lavender flying device on her back. Below her, a massive object made entirely of lavender was gradually taking shape.
That was a super missile Vill-V had created on the spot using the power of the Herrscher of Reason's core.
Although most of the Herrschers of Domination had never met each other and could only be considered netizens to some extent, it didn't matter, because they would soon become complete acquaintances—if the missile could be successfully detonated.
Unfortunately, such a conspicuous target was naturally noticed by the Herrschers, who tried their best and finally succeeded in stopping Vill-V's plan.
"What a shame,"
Vill-V said, looking at the overwhelming attacks. She had to abandon her plan to solve the problem in one go, but she soon smiled and said, "In that case, I'll just have to use Plan B!"
From her excited expression, it was clear that Plan B was what she really wanted to use all along.
After saying this, Vill-V took out a potion from her waist bag and injected it into her neck—it was the "Aponia Embrace" she had requested from Ai Yue, a substance that could greatly enhance human mental strength.
Only with strong enough mental strength could she complete the "masterpiece" that had only existed on blueprints until now.
On the ground, Kosma looked up at the skeleton Vill-V had woven in the air and stopped moving for a moment.
Even though he was knocked away the next second, he kept his head up, watching Vill-V's every move.
In the air, a massive humanoid metal skeleton was gradually taking shape.
"Isn't this... too awesome?"
