Kael woke up the next day to sunlight streaming through his window. The morning air was crisp and cool. He stretched, feeling more rested than he had in weeks.
Surprisingly, something was different today.
A familiar sensation bloomed in his mind. Like a door that had been locked suddenly swinging open. His consciousness touched something that had been absent for a while, dormant.
