Cyborgs were the fruits of science and machines, and because of that, one would think discussion of soul and anything mystical would be the farthest thing when it comes to them. Those who focus on the machine side of things seem to think so, at least. What they forget is that the cyborg is made from a human part as well.
A human soul failing to connect with a bionic implant was normal in a sense. Expected, even. Malleability differs from one person to another. Some souls are capable of changing their shape to accommodate the change in the vessel containing them. Others are more rigid, and because of that, they remain the same even when the vessel changes around them, the incompatibility inevitably breaking their connection and setting the soul free.
In most cases, the soul only reacts to the changes happening to its vessel. But what would happen if the soul is the one subjected to change, while the vessel remains the same.
