This eagle-type monster was the true silent death from above. It made no sound until the instant it descended to attack Eleanor... no flap of wings, no call, no warning of any kind. She sensed only killing intent and extreme danger when it was already upon her.
She caught sight of the creature as it ascended back into the sky. Its body was clearly avian in shape, but its feathers looked as though they were made of sharp metal, each one ending in a lethal edge.
Its wings were vast and angular, and when fully extended could span more than twenty feet. The razor-like edges of its feathers looked capable of cutting through anything. Its claws had a black metallic sheen, glinting in the light of the sky.
When it turned its head, she saw a long beak like that of a heron, but far stronger, as though forged from metal. Apart from its general shape, it was difficult to associate the creature with an eagle at all.
