Eleanor immediately brought her spear into the path of the incoming hoof and blocked the attack. But she was already in motion and had no time to brace herself. The rhino was far too powerful to confront head-on. The impact sent her flying like a kicked ball. She landed nearly twenty feet away, rolled several times, and finally came to a stop.
Her entire body screamed in agony. She steadied her breathing for a second, then forced herself to her feet. Her spear had been knocked from her grasp by the blow.
Without wasting time, she sprinted towards it, snatched it up, and dodged the charging rhino. The creature thundered past her, then skidded to a halt several feet away as it struggled to turn with its momentum.
