Chapter 336 - Over the Grasslands

Eleanor slowly walked out of the underground chamber, or whatever was left of it, and looked at her surroundings. She stared at the devastation in silence. When she had first arrived in this town, there were still the skeletal remains of a few buildings, enough to suggest that people had once lived here. Plants and trees had wrapped themselves around the decayed and ruined structures. Now, only scorched and blackened soil remained. Smoke still rose from several places.

 

Most importantly, the temple was gone. No one would believe that only a few hours ago an intact temple had stood at this very spot. Before she could think any further, a pungent odour struck her nose. It was an incredibly foul stench, like rotten eggs or decaying corpses, with a faintly burnt tang. An overwhelming urge to vomit surged through her. She bent over, but nothing came up, only worsening her discomfort.
